Casa Lara, Lugano, Switzerland

Tucked away in a charming wooded valley, this traditional alpine house makes a wonderful retreat from late March to the end of October. The house is in a small village, surrounded by nature, but just 25 minutes from the centre of Lugano.

On the edge of the village, the house, which sleeps 5 people, is reached on foot. The front door opens into the airy living room with cool tiled floors and a wooden staircase leading up to the bedrooms. The room is divided into two halves. On one side the sitting area is furnished with 2 sofas, an open fireplace and a Smart TV. The kitchen/dining area is on the other side of the staircase. The kitchen is well-equipped with a cooker hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, toaster, raclette and a Nespresso machine. There is a dining table for cosy meals.

There is a private garden with lovely views over the valley. Garden chairs are available so guests can relax and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

Sleeping
Bedroom 1: Upstairs, under the wooden eaves, is the delightful master bedroom with a double bed and a wardrobe.
Bedroom 2: The second room has a French-sized double bed and a bunk bed, with a wardrobe and dressing table/laptop-friendly workspace.

Location
This peaceful village cottage is reached on foot as the streets are too narrow for cars. It is the perfect combination of a quiet location that is within easy reach of the excitement of the city. The area is well-known for its artisanal foods. A hike through the beautiful alpine meadows and forests is often rewarded with spectacular views across the mountains or a farm selling homemade salami or cheese. Local restaurants take pleasure in serving regional dishes such as polenta and seasonal game.

For more urban thrills, the house is just 25 minutes from central Lugano and all its attractions. There is so much to see including MASI, The Museum of Art of Italian Switzerland. There are many delicious restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy the best of Italian and Swiss cuisines.

The closest international airport is in Italy - Milan Malpensa 1 hour 20 minutes by car.
