This was our first trip to Hawaii. We stayed at 3 different VRBO locations (Kona, Hilo and ended our trip here). We were only here a day and a half (mix up on our flight due to my fault and we needed a place for one night). Since our flight didn't leave til 10 pm and the minimum night stay was 2 nights, it worked well to book 2 nights). It was an expensive mistake on my part as the day and a half cost $$$$ (not allowed post amount).
This place was great for our last couple days on the island because we had been going hard during our trip (to see and do so many things) and we were able to relax before flying back home. We spent a lot of our time at the Mauna Lani Beach. The snorkeling is good and the house is equipped with a standup paddle board and many other useful "toys" for beach or pool enjoyment. The restaurant at the Beach Club was good and super convenient while we were enjoying the beach.
You can find everything you will need at the condo. The kitchen is well equipped and things like beach towels, soaps, etc are furnished. The Kona coffee and chocolates were a nice touch and so good.
There are a couple of things I would point out that kept me from giving a perfect score. It appeared as though the living area on the first floor was not well vacuumed as I found cheerios and a couple other things and alerted the manager. Everything else appeared to be cleaned adequately.
The listing boasts 14 restaurants, 3 beaches, etc...finding those things was not super easy. Thankfully, the Beach Club was easy. As for restaurants on the property, not sure where those all are. We found ourselves looking for somewhere to go our first night. Most places were booked but there was a restaurant within walking distance with openings so we reserved a table and walked there (inside one of the hotels). Getting there was a 15 min walk) and had to go through gates but the gates were open, so non issue. Little did we know, getting back through those gates on the way home after dark would be an issue. The pedestrian and car gates were closed and the passcodes given for our condo property did not work. Trying to scale a lava stone wall is way more challenging than you might imagine.
So, I would say, a map to the places (that are accessible)would be helpful.
Overall, this place is great if you plan to use the beach on property a lot (or golf). For us, this was the perfect place to be at the end of our trip where we could relax and unwind before going home.
