We typically rent a house or stay at the Omni when we visit Hilton Head, but decided to stay at the Sonesta to try something new for an extended family vacay (19 of us). Disappointed with the customer service as I had booked 2 queen beds and they gave us a King bed for 6 days. We had booked a room a couple of months ago and the receptionist didn’t tell us this at check and we found out when we arrived at the room. I returned back to the front desk and the reason I received was that we oversold the rooms, which isn’t my problem. I asked the hotel manager to contact me in 30 mins and the staff said it would happen…. It never happen and no one contacted me for the remaining days. Definitely won’t stay again.

The location is good. It’s family friendly. The room could have been better. There was a smell in the bathroom, the water pressure made it hard to wash off in the shower, and there was a mold smell coming from the ac vent. We stayed at the pool one day due to too much wind on the beach and we had a difficult time getting food at the pool in the afternoon. Overall I would probably find somewhere else to stay if we were to return.

Only 1 elevator location in the entire facility....some difficulty getting to our far-away rooms. Only entry allowed through the front main entrance which meant go up the one elevator location and walk to the extremities of the building if that is where your room is located. Get a room near the elevator! Staff and housekeeping were very accommodating. Parking for the most part is far away from the entrance. Again, with only one entrance, close parking spots were generally not available. The air conditioning broke down for 2 nights of our stay...rooms got pretty hot. They did discount our bill and gave us a free night because of the inconvenience. All in all...7 out of 10.

We booked this property at the last minute after another trip had to be abandoned due to flight cancellations. We weren't sure what to expect at the Sonesta as it was our first time. It surpassed all expectations. The property is conveniently located with easy beach and Shipyard community access. It offered a number of other amenities and never felt overly busy or mobbed, even in the pool and bar areas. The property is freshly renovated and the rooms are clean and spacious. Finally, the service was excellent. The staff took pride in ensuring our stay was a great experience. I would book again without hesitation.

We travelled to HHI for the first time with 2 very young kids. We loved the hospitality of Sonesta- location, serene surroundings, access to beach, views, kids amenities and buffet breakfast, really good. We got a room upgrade and we just loved the view. We will return next time!

We did not like staying on the 1st floor as the balcony is very important to hang drying wet swimsuits. We also missed the great view of the pool. Otherwise, we noticed several improvements to the property since staying here two years ago! We absolutely love the poolside bar and cafe. Fantastic place for a family with active kids. Not to mention beach access too!

The different options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner onsite was very convenient and enjoyable. Staff were great in accommodating us for our needs during our stay!

The hotel was supposedly renovated. However there was paint peeling/chipping from the ceiling and throughout the hotel, the bathroom shower curtain was disgusting it had pink mold at the bottom, the hotel was not very clean for the price you pay. they also told us at check in that pets were only allowed on the 1st floor however we saw Someone going to Their room on the 5th floor with a huge dog. The hotel also smells “old”.
