Had to call for someone to check us in. Front door was locked. No one was available on site otherwise. Check in was not until 3pm. Which was fine. We arrived 4:30pm. However, the office hours said they closed at 4pm. Not sure why a hotel business would close at 4pm when no one can check in until 3pm.
Other tenants were smoking marijuana outside when we arrived and continued to do so until hotel staff arrived and then they went inside. The exterior was a bit intimidating to approach. Looked like an abandoned building until we turned into the parking lot. The lot was clean and plenty of garbage cans to use if needed.
Desk staff was friendly when she arrived. She left promptly after giving us the key cards. Unfortunately the key cards didn’t work, so we had to call her to come back to the hotel to let us in the room.
Bathroom was dirty. Looked like someone had spilled their cup of tobacco chew spit, down the outside of the tub and on the floor. The bathroom smelled of cat urine and the bathroom door did not close. We didn’t use the bathroom after that. We just needed some sleep and was to be out the door early anyway so we let it be and went to bed.
Mattress looked new. It was comfortable. No mattress cover/protector was on it however. AC and TV worked fine. Carpets were quite worn down with several quarter size holes and several “bald” spots.
Lack of other options made this place feasible for a single night stay in a pinch.
