The rooms at the Kimpton Claret are very spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the amenities are good which makes it even more disappointing that so many aspects of the stay fell short of expectations. The internet is brutal: slow, unreliable, and completely inadequate for a hotel at this price point. Breakfast is very expensive, and although the staff are polite, they are clearly understaffed. The breakfast hours are extremely limited and open quite late, which is frustrating for guests with early business meetings or activities. In the evenings, the hotel closes the restaurant, lobby, and common areas very early, leaving no space at all for guests to sit, relax, or socialize outside of their rooms. This felt very unwelcoming. We also booked two rooms and requested upgrades as VIP Expedia members, but our request was completely ignored. What made this more frustrating is that we know other guests who did receive upgrades. On top of that, the additional fees are very high, which makes the lack of recognition and flexibility even harder to justify. Overall, the rooms are excellent and the hotel has a lot of potential, but poor internet, limited hours, high fees, and ignored VIP requests made this stay far more disappointing than it should have been.
