Actually really liked the hotel, but definitely needs some work & training on how to clean. Lots of noise from the street as well as noise & other rowdy guests. Smell of weed several times. I do have to give them props for taking care of unrespectful guests. Once reported they took care of the issue very promptly.

Great location! Rooms were clean and updated. Room had a portable dehumidifier that we had to empty several times during our stay. It was unexpected but we were thankful it was there. The rest of the facility could use updating and repairs. The pictures do not show how the facility actually looks. Door closures need attention. We were woken every night by slamming doors.

This property had an amazing landscape. The building is rough, it needs a facelift, the facilities would be amazing if they updated/took care of it. The rooms were updated however corner were cut. The pool area needs some tlc. They have a bar area that is clearly never used. They have random piles of stuff. Pipes in holes, missing sidewalk blocks, no umbrellas at the pool a random smaller pool but no steps to get in and it’s too deep for a baby pool. I would love to be in charge of a reno on this property.

Patrons Beware: Roaches and Refunds

Upon my arrival, the hotel looked like it needed some attention from the outside but once we entered I was surprised. It was updated, clean and smelled nice. I gave a compliment to the manager based off previous experiences shortly after check in while at the pool .The next morning I woke up at 4a and saw roaches in which i immediately informed the front desk of. Later on that day they sent someone to spray raid and i hadn't seen anymore. The next morning, the same thing. I asked for the manager and I was told by Kim that Shamila wouldn't be in till later and I said well I need assistance as this is unacceptable, there are roaches everywhere and I am wanting to checkout early because of this and do not want to take any home. I'm on vacation from Michigan and we drove and I don't want to cut our family trip short. She said you have to speak to the manager and gave me her name on a piece of paper. I said well then I will just checkout. She gave me the paperwork without the refund. I said excuse me I paid with cash to check in and I would like a refund for the remaining days. Kim stated she couldn't help me and to call the manager. Later that day I called Shamila and advised of the situation and she basically stated that they do not give refunds. She can accommodate me for future stays but there's nothing she could do. I said i do not want that. I did not sign anything that stated no refunds and its not posted anywhere in your lobby or in the paperwork you had me sign.

I had BEACH VIEW. room 124 is straight pool and bar view. NO BEACH VIEW FOR $230!!!. There were ants all over the bathroom. I'm sure the cleaners seen it on my dirty towels which i kept wiping them with! No fan in the bathroom for hot showers or going to the bathroom #2. The fridge was a hot wine cooler, couldnt even keep my water cold! I paid for a kitchenette.... with nothing to cook with. They had a humidifier.... assuming for the hot shower which read full and on red. MY FLIP FLOPS WERE STOLEN FROM THE POOL. AC kept shutting off. So much fun😩🙄 if you didnt wait over 20 min for drink service at the bar, you walked away!! such a joke!

Disappointed Second Time Around

It may not be fair but I kept on comparing our 4 night stay to our first stay 5 years ago, pre-Covid. I think the property was sold. It was an entirely different experience, not for the better. Upon check in we were told the elevators were not working. Someone did bring our bags to the 3rd floor, but it took 3 days for elevators tobe fixed. Traders Restaurant on site is definitely under new owner management. No more breakfast buffet and a very limited menu. Food was just ok. The place was empty most of the time. Walk to the Marriott down the street. Excellent there. We rented a kitchenette. Used to be a little stove, full sized frig, a little table with 2 chairs and fully equipped. Opened the cabinets this time and they were all empty. Only a two burner cooktop; no counter space at all and the little table and chairs are across the room by the sliding doors. I asked the front desk who said they only supply equipment when requested because people were taking the pots and pans and dinnerware home during Covid!! I had to ask again the following day before housekeeping finally brought us 2 plates, 2 cups, 2 bowls, and a fork and knife each. A small pot, a medium pot and a little frying pan. That’s what they considered a fully equipped kitchenette! The pool was not heated; who is going to play in 60 degree water? First trip was in Feb. and we went in the pool alot. Needless to say we were very disappointed this second time around and will not book Aku Tiki again.

I loved the quiet beach. The hotel was ok, but the staff and service were terrible! It took us over an hour to check in! We finally got checked in at 4, but we were told we had to come back at 5 for our room keys. We were being dropped of, so this was VERY inconvenient. We ate dinner at the restaurant. The food was delicious, but it took over an hour. They are definitely short staffed.

Drove five hours to get there and find out our reservation had been canceled. Although it was terribly inconvenient, we actually were relieved as the place was a dump. Nothing like the pictures on Expedia. Lobby smelled foul. Things were dirty and falling apart. We found a hotel in Ormond Beach with freshly painted rooms with new carpet and the staff was lovely.
