If you’re looking for a small, authentic, and truly welcoming place to stay in Civitavecchia, La Casa Sul Mare is it. This tiny five-room boutique hotel is a peaceful retreat just steps from the sea and within easy walking distance of the port and train station. Truly ideal for a pre- or post-cruise stop, or a relaxing weekend by the water. From the moment we arrived, the owner made us feel completely at home. He’s one of those rare hosts who genuinely loves what he does. He and his staff were warm, accommodating, and always ready with local recommendations or a helping hand. He even helped us with our bags and arranged transport details without hesitation. You can tell that every guest matters here. The rooms are spotless, bright, and thoughtfully designed, with little touches that make a big difference. Ours had a lovely balcony with a view of the water, and we enjoyed sitting there with morning coffee, listening to the sounds of the harbor waking up. Breakfast was simple but fresh and delicious — pastries, fruit, good espresso, and a view that makes you want to linger. Everything about this place feels personal and cared for. It’s not a luxury chain hotel, and that’s exactly why it’s perfect. La Casa Sul Mare has charm, character, and heart. This was the kind of stay that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret spot only locals know about. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Staff are just wonderful - one night and feel like family The place is way to find from the train station and Loris happy to help as well. Very central and easy for the cruise ships. La Casa Sul Mare was the best bed-and-breakfast we have ever stayed in. Loris and Ambra made us feel like family when we checked in the hotel. They were so accommodating and caring and provided information on everything you could possibly need. This was the best hotel stay I have ever had. I can’t begin to express how amazing our stay was at La Casa sul Mare! Don’t let the immediate outside area deceive you! Loris was waiting for my husband and I when we arrived from our cruise to escort us upstairs and insisted that he handle all of our luggage. Ambra was waiting at the top of the elevator to welcome us. We arrived really early and took advantage of the early check in option. Ambra prepared us cappuccino and a lovely breakfast that we enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the sea. The location is perfect - it’s walkable from the cruise port and an even shorter walk to the train station. There are many bars/restaurants near. We spent the day enjoying the beautiful beach and then Loris secured us a dinner reservation at a delicious seafood restaurant. We watched the sun set and then ended the day enjoying drinks back in the room. It’s the little things that really make a difference and they have thought of everything. The shower was incredible after several days on a cramped ship, and they even had a hair dryer WITH a diffuser attachment, slippers, and water for the room. It was such a cozy, enjoyable experience we wished we could have stayed for longer. We will definitely be back and can’t recommend this property enough!!!

Two night, pre- cruise stay

A beautiful small B & B, clean comfortable & a feel of nothing would be too much trouble. Not that we needed anything as everything that you could wish for during your stay was thoughtfully there. The breakfast was lovely & having access to free coffee, fruit & snacks at anytime was an unexpected bonus. Loris & Ambra were excellent hosts, very friendly & efficient. Would recommend ear plugs for light sleepers as music from nearby bars could just be heard until late. Definitely would recommend to other travellers though as this was perfect for our 2 nights pre-cruise.

We booked this place several weeks before our Rrival. Loris, the owner met the car when our driver pulled up to the front door and took our luggage. We met Ambra who showed us around. Both Loris and Ambra were so kind and informative. The place is in the perfect location. Our room and balcony over looked the bay and street. We wandered around town, had pizza and beer, enjoyed the area. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast and Loris arranged our car to the port. It waa our first time in Italy. Loris and Ambra made us feel right at home. We recommend La Casa Sul Mare to anyone who is looking for hosts that go to the extra time in making their guests feel cared for and important! What a find! We will recommend this B&B to everyone! Thank you Ambra and Loris!

He gave us a fantastic restaurant to go for lunch and the food was delicious! We loved sitting out on the balcony to watch the waves and the sunset. 🌅 would definitely recommend staying here.

We had a great stay, at this bed and breakfast. It’s a really nice apartment/condo. And they book out the rooms. The staff Ambra and the owner Lauren were very friendly and so welcoming. The place was very clean, the room and bathroom were spotless, and fresh mats were provided in the shower. Breakfast was provided every morning from 8am to 10am. The view from our room was gorgeous. We had a balcony with an ocean view and a ferris wheel that lit up at night. It was pretty cool to see. There are lots of Resturant’s around the area and a few stores. The location is walking distance from the cruise port. I would definitely book here again!
