We booked this hotel specifically to use the pool but it was closed, think we should’ve been informed of that as it’s a big selling point. The corridor outside of our room had a bad smell on both days. Staff were nice though, helpful and friendly and the room was clean.

Disappointing Stay We stayed at this Holiday Inn Group (IHG) hotel over the weekend and were unfortunately very disappointed with our experience. Upon arrival, we were informed that the swimming pool was out of order. The main reason we chose this hotel was specifically because it had a pool, so this was extremely frustrating. We were told the pool had been closed for several days, and had we been made aware of this in advance, we would have cancelled our booking. We swim daily due to arthritis, so we had no choice but to travel to the local swimming baths instead, which was very inconvenient. In addition, there was an extremely unpleasant smell in the hallway, particularly from around room 300 onwards and extending past the 400s. We were staying in room 409, and the smell was very off-putting throughout our stay. Overall, this was not the experience we expected from an IHG hotel, and we feel the lack of communication regarding the pool and the unpleasant conditions in the hallway significantly affected our stay.

Booked 2 rooms in july for December xmas treat. Hotel fully booked so couldn't change rooms...one room was booked as a double and they gave us a twin. The family room smelt awful of damp and mould and there was mould on the walls and celling and every thing felt damp the bedding, Towels and in the air we stayed in 336. We had my 4 year old with us and my partner felt ill having a cold on his chest.

Reason for choosing hotel, swimming pool, was closed with general comment of 'maintenance' from receptionist. Would have been nice if discount or bar voucher had been offered as compensation. Windows in room were both open, presume due to smoking of previous guests. Air con heating not working so room never warmed up after closing the window. Only one socket at side of bed to charge our phones. No ceiling light so bedroom felt gloomy despite every light being on. Long wait to check out 'need to check your room doesn't have extra charges to pay'. They have my credit card if there had been but there weren't any. Not staff fault but hotel was disappointing.

When we first arrived the hotel had the impression that we had only booked one room, instead of the actual two. It was a faff. Breakfast was dreadful. Tepid over cooked, dried out and of poor quality. The toaster was pretty ineffective giving slightly warm bread that couldn’t be described as toast. One machine dispensing hot drinks very very slowly. I saw on another review that guests were offered omelettes, pancakes and various other cooked eggs. That wasn’t my experience, I was offered nothing.

Stay here quite often, overall its good. Rooms vary enormously in quality, maybe they are undertaking improvements? The last stay was in an Executive room (needed a desk) in previous visits this has had a few welcome touches, fridge etc. This time there wasn’t so much as a USB socket. Breakfast made up for a flat phone though!
