Everything was great in this quirky second floor shore apartment. The key pickup was easy. The location was perfect, the amenities were wonderful, and the whole place warmed up in minutes once the heater was switched on, which is important in December. There was a lot of light, plenty of TVs, and a full-size washer and dryer right inside. But man, what is going on downstairs? The place was a sort of blight in an otherwise pristine neighborhood. Rotting wood porch, peeling paint, screens partially ripped out. There was a rotting slab of plywood leaning against the front door for God’s sake. (I actually hid it before everyone showed up.) It put me in an odd position to meet my family here and show them the place I picked for us to stay. Of course we made light of it, particularly once we got upstairs. The picture shown on VRBO seems a little out of date. Still…the apartment itself gets 5 stars (thank heavens). We had fun there and it was set up great. I just wish the owner would put some love into the outside. For what amounted to 500 a night, I expect better.
