4/10 Malo

Overall, I’d give this place a 5/10. The location was nice and the walk to the beach was convenient, which was definitely the best part of the stay.We did run into an issue checking in because we never received the entry code and had to call to get it. Thankfully, the customer service representative on the phone was very friendly and helpful. When we first entered the home, there was a noticeable old/musty smell. We had to open all the windows for a while just to air the place out. The home looked organized at first glance, but the cleanliness could definitely be improved. There were visible spiderwebs and noticeable dust buildup above the kitchen and the decor above the entryway area, which made the place feel less maintained than expected. The backyard was also disappointing, overgrown with weeds and vines, with barely any usable space to enjoy outside.Another thing that felt a little uncomfortable was the amount of family photos displayed throughout the house. It made the space feel less like a neutral vacation rental and more like we were staying in someone’s personal home. There were also no basic amenities like shampoo, body wash, or even coffee provided, which made the stay feel less comfortable than expected for the price. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep while spending most of your time out exploring Cannon Beach, it’s manageable. But for the cost, I honestly think staying at a hotel nearby may provide a better overall experience and value.
