The women at the front desk are the best - kind and ready to do whatever you need to make your stay comfortable. Parking is a little tricky so leave the car at home if possible - everything is within walking distance because the location is perfect. Rooms are comfortable and the front desk provides a lot of treats you will enjoy!

Stayed here for my birthday for the second year in a row and had the best experience! Staff was super helpful and checked in frequently to ensure we were having the best experience possible. Absolutely love the cookies at night and the fresh scones in the morning. You cannot beat the location and you truly feel like you are staying somewhere historical. Looking forward to our next stay!

Fairly nice rooms but noise level and level cooling was lacking based upon price point. Hotel is unstaffed after 5 pm. Room rate included a breakfast but we never saw breakfast arrive as expected the option promised other than self service options for breakfast.

I absolutely loved my stay! My dream place in Salem! The kindness of the staff, the cleanliness, the location, the price—everything is perfect! I have never slept so well in a bed as the one I had there. Plus, they offer cookies and scones starting at 4 p.m., and delightful morning treats at 9 a.m.! There’s limited on-site parking available, as well as another lot not far away. I’ve found my place to stay in Salem—50/5 stars! I can’t wait to come back, thank you for everything!

Property was beautiful. Better than expected. Right in the heart of Salem, so centrally located you’re surrounded by shops, restaurants, and historic buildings and museums. The hotel itself is amazing. Clean, well decorated, comfortable/cozy. We were in room 7 which is way up stairs but the stairs were fine- no elevator on site. There were fresh yogurts, and other snacks in the fridge which was in the little kitchenette area outside our room. View was of the street and front yard which was awesome. Theres not an actual breakfast but there were breakfast sandwiches and egg bites in that little fridge. And there was an expresso machine. In the main lobby, there was another kitchen-like area and in the morning there was a spinach pie and scones. All was well. Check in at 4 checkout at 11. Wish it was earlier check in and atleast a 12pm check out but that’s the norm now a days. All in all we’d deff stay again! Also no haunted stuff experienced by us.. unfortunately

We had a lovely stay at The Merchant this past weekend. The house was beautiful and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Bonus- every afternoon they set out warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven that were so delicious, how do we get the recipe?!!!

I had a great stay at the Merchant. While walking through the beautiful hotel and the George Washington room where I slept, I couldn’t help but wonder if the place is haunted. It’s old and modern. Staff were friendly. Parking lot is right around the corner. I had the best shower there in my life. The water felt so good. Thinking of returning sometime in the future.
