Amazing property. We stayed in the two bedroom, 2 bathroom unit with full kitchen and family room and were very comfortable. The accommodations were modern and clean. We really appreciated the washer and dryer in the unit. The view of Karioitahi beach was incredible. We really enjoyed our two night stay and would definitely return if back in Auckland area.

We stayed one night at Castaways and loved the beautiful, peaceful location away from town. The view from our studio was wonderful! The room was excellent with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast is a must – the buffet was really good. The only downside is no direct beach access; you have to walk a couple of hundred metres down the road without a footpath, so watch out for cars. Overall, it was a lovely stay and we’d happily recommend it.

Beautiful view of the black sand beach from the room. The bed was so comfortable, I had the best nights sleep. Highly recommend taking the walking track up top to the lookout at sunset, it was breathtaking. Breakfast buffet was delicious, load of options to choose from.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Castaway Resort! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome — they were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout our visit. Our villa had breathtaking views and was perfectly located near the beach and even a paragliding spot, which made the experience even more special. When we arrived, our room had been damaged by a rock hitting the window and therefore were moved to a safer room immediately. When we were settled, the view was amazing, and all we wanted to do was spend time watching the ocean. If you are to stay here and watch the sunset, grab some cheese and a bottle of wine- nothing was more perfect. Everything about this place was perfect. Clean, friendly staff, delicious food, and great location.

This resort needs to be more upfront about the fact that many rooms require a wait for a goldfish cart pick up or a long walk on a very steep hill to get to and from. Also the restaurant onsite is often not available for supper on weekends due to wedding bookings.
