Incredibly helpful staff, especially Vicky who personally helped us get an Indian SIM card (trust me it's quite a hassle in India) and dropped us off at the airport. His tuk-tuk tour to the Wagah border is incredible, and honestly he was more entertaining than the ceremony itself. As long as you don't mind being a slightly squished on his ride depending on the group size, for 300 Rs. you really can't go wrong. He alone is the reason for a 5/5 rating.
The private room was really good for the very affordable price, although without window. Fairly basic, but also clean and very comfortable. There's also a small communal area on the top floor, plus a kitchen space. The area surrounding the hostel is a slightly rundown, but it's a 5-10 minute walk to the Jallianwala Bagh park, the Golden Temple and all the markets and attractions around Heritage Street. Car traffic can be quite bad in Amritsar from early morning till late night, so being able to get on foot is very valuable.
