Great location, as long as you follow the directions about needing an AWD vehicle. Great house, very comfortable and well appointed. Great communication and interaction with the hosts. Fully recommend this house if looking for someplace in Hocking Hills!

We had such a wonderful stay at The Chestnut for our family Thanksgiving! The house was perfectly clean, and there was plenty of room for myself, my husband, our two young adult kids and their significant others. We cooked a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and made all our meals in the well-equipped kitchen. Our dog loved walking along the lake, and we relaxed in the hot tub after our hikes in the Hocking Hills. We also used every parking situation: we had no problem getting up and down the driveway in our truck, our son preferred to park on the top on the driveway, and my daughter's so parked at the entrance and walked in along the lake or was shuttled back. It was a lovely holiday and just what we needed this season!

We had a wonderful friend’s weekend. The Chestnut was beautiful. We had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The check in was easy. The house was clean. All of the appliances worked and there were plenty of dishes. We all just loved our time together.

Family Getaway by Lake

The owners are the best. Their communication and responsiveness was top notch. The cabin is nicer than the pictures and very clean. They supplied lots of extras to make the stay smooth (even for our pets). My husband has PTSD and there is a cabin about 100 yards uphill behind the cabin (wasn't an issue or thought for anyone else). Hot tub was very clean and temperatures were good. Drive way: well maintained but 100% 4- wheel drive needed.or all wheel drive. We shuttled people with cars from general parking to cabin. Beds were comfortable. We needed something fixed and they came to take care of it right away. We spent a day playing cards in the comfortable kitchen, spent lots of time in the living room chatting and multiple teips to the dock on the lake. Wonderful place that is owned by awesome peiple.

Hocking Hills Bday Trip

We loved the location. The house was great. The path to the lake was serene & beautiful w my morning coffee. The king & queen bad were extremely soft to the point that it hurt to sleep in them. Only one set of jets worked in the hot tub. Overall it was a great stay & convenient. I’d stay again if they got a couple new mattresses.

Great little GetAway!

We had an amazing stay! We had 6 adults and our dog Cormac and we all had a blast. The owners were very friendly and helpful when an issue arose. The house was clean and beautiful. We went fishing several times off the private dock and down by the banks and caught plenty of fish and a turtle and a frog! The hot tub was clean and worked well. We would definitely recommend The Chestnut for your next family vacation!

Weekend getaway

It was very clean and well stocked with everything! The electric did go out for awhile! ( 8 hrs all together) Which made the water, our cell phones and the landline not work! There’s not much you can do about it though! More flashlights would have been nice! I had to take the batteries out of the tv remote to put in one! We did have a couple in our cars! We made it work! All in all it was a great and enjoyable stay!

The DRIVEWAY is no joke!!!

We had a great stay and enjoyed the peacefulness. We brought lots of food and games and enjoyed our own OU Moms Weekend out of all the crowds and bustle of the city. The DRIVEWAY is no joke when they say 4x4 or AWD is REQUIRED in ALL SEASONS!!! We actually had one car get stuck at the bottom of the driveway and we had to ask a neighbor with a truck and tow straps to help us get the last car up the driveway. The incline and gravel made it impossible for the car to get up on their own.

Great Stay

My son and I wanted a weekend getaway for spring break. The Chestnut is a great location for the attractions Hocking Hills has to offer. Communication prior to our arrival was awesome! The owners provided detailed information on popular recreational activities and places to dine. The house has all the needed amenities and a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely return!
