Situated on over 5 wooded acres and only minutes away from all of the major state parks and attractions, the secluded yet central, Chestnut offers the perfect mix of privacy and proximity to all of the beauty and fun Hocking Hills has to offer!

Stunning lake views complement a wooded surrounding immersing you completely in nature while still offering every modern amenity to make you feel at home!

A 4-wheel or AWD vehicle is REQUIRED to access the property in all seasons and weather conditions.

The space:
Nestled among the trees, you’ll find yourself immersed in the full beauty and tranquility of Hocking Hills at The Chestnut from Chestnut Retreats. Located just minutes from the major state parks and attractions, the secluded yet central Chestnut is the perfect place to get away your way!

Upon entering you’ll be greeted with a large kitchen that is fully equipped and furnished with every cooking accessory to help you make those tasty memories during your stay. Sliding glass doors lead to a large and fully furnished back deck and propane grill. Stunning nature and lake views accompany a cozy surrounding perfect for spending time with those close to you!

In the living room you’ll be greeted with an open space equipped with large cathedral style windows perfect for nature watching from the comfort of the couch! A gas fireplace is equipped to add ambiance as well as take the chill off of those late evenings and early mornings. You’ll also notice a TV equipped with multiple streaming services including Netflix, HBOMax, Disney Plus, Hulu, and Amazon Music premium to use during your stay! We also offer retro video game emulators(SNES/SEGA) and a wide array of DVDs and board games!

Upstairs you’ll find the master suite with a small walk out deck perfect for a quite thought and a cup of coffee as you look out over the trees and lake!

At Chestnut Retreats we couldn't imagine life without our furry family. Thats why The Chestnut welcomes quiet, non-aggressive canine companions when arrangements are made at the time of reservation. The Chestnut limits the number of dogs to no more than two and size of your dog to no more than 75 lbs. All dog guests must be completely free of fleas and ticks, be well groomed and up to date on shots and vaccinations. Advance dog reservations are required since The Chestnut must plan in advance for a pet visit. Please see our pet policy and house rules for complete details and requirements.

Whether you spend your time relaxing by the fire, soaking in the hot tub, or enjoying the water from your own private dock (HOA Owned) on the ten acre lake just a short wooded stroll from the home, The Chestnut has endless entertainment options both indoor and out! With the perfect mix of privacy, proximity, and amenities The Chestnut allows you to get away your way and feel at home in the heart of Hocking Hills!

They’re not joking about needing 4WD! If you get carsick the roads leading up to the area are quite bumpy so I would prepare for that however you would need. Only thing to improve that I can think of is that it was very rainy while we were there and I couldn’t find something to cover the firepit just in case things dried up. That could also be my lack of ability to find things.

Does not sleep 8 adults comfortably. The king and queen are ok but the double bed isn’t big enough for 2 adults. There is an ottoman that fold out to a single bed. Plus a couch. No luggage racks for your luggage. No firewood like it says on the website. Deck and furniture are not well kept up. Would have been nice to have it swept up blew off before arrival. Four wheel drive is definitely required, the drive to the cabin is very uneven and rutted. Sorry to be so negative about this place but I don’t think I will be back.

My son and I wanted a weekend getaway for spring break. The Chestnut is a great location for the attractions Hocking Hills has to offer. Communication prior to our arrival was awesome! The owners provided detailed information on popular recreational activities and places to dine. The house has all the needed amenities and a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely return!

Great little GetAway!

We had an amazing stay! We had 6 adults and our dog Cormac and we all had a blast. The owners were very friendly and helpful when an issue arose. The house was clean and beautiful. We went fishing several times off the private dock and down by the banks and caught plenty of fish and a turtle and a frog! The hot tub was clean and worked well. We would definitely recommend The Chestnut for your next family vacation!

Hocking Hills Bday Trip

We loved the location. The house was great. The path to the lake was serene & beautiful w my morning coffee. The king & queen bad were extremely soft to the point that it hurt to sleep in them. Only one set of jets worked in the hot tub. Overall it was a great stay & convenient. I’d stay again if they got a couple new mattresses.
