The annual Carnaval de Quebec is the ultimate in winter celebrations—so much in fact it  remains the largest winter carnival in the world and every year, it draws swaths of visitors from every corner on Earth. For 2019, Bonhomme Carnaval (the carnival’s ambassador) welcomes carnival guests to experience all of the wonders of this 10-day event (from February 8-17) and all the high energy activities that makes this carnival so popular including cross country skiing, ice carving workshops, snow baths, snow wrestling (…you read that correctly…) and more!

Climb a frozen waterfall

When Climbing a mountain is just too boring, try climbing a frozen waterfall. Adrenaline junkies will certainly find ice climbing one of the most thrilling adventures during a Quebec winter at the Montmorency Falls Ice Climb. Keep in mind that this is a frozen waterfall—with active water flowing within its frozen ice shell—and it is roughly 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls!

Witness a wintry night parade

There are numerous nighttime entertainment offerings in Quebec City, but there’s one that’s definitely something that the entire family will love: The Carnaval de Quebec Night Parade! Be sure to bundle up for an evening filled with multi-sensory experiences that include costumed performers, musicians, circus arts, pyrotechnics and more—it’s unlike anything you have ever seen before.
