They cancel booked rooms before arrival! I was there by myself to book the room a couple of weeks in advance, and the comment on the phone two days before my trip was: "Sorry, but the room you booked is not available anymore." - and that was it - no explanantion, no alternative! Never again!!!
I recently had the "chance" to stay here during a work trip, but just for one night before moving to another hotel. I guess I would summarize this by saying I've seen worse, but generally this would not be a place that I would choose to stay at. The location, is actually in a great spot! Lots of good restaurants around it and it's on a nice little street. However, the inside really reminds of an outdated "motor inn" (just checkout the toilet lid) that you would find somewhere in the middle of nowhere. While everything seemed to be clean, I was left with that feeling that maybe I should sleep with my clothes on... The room keys are attached to small boat anchors and must be used to unlock & lock your room. :) The bed was OK, the room was hot (no AC which is normal), the bathroom was "clean looking", and the shower was a typical small euro shower (but I did have one in my room, unlike other reviews). Overall, If you are looking for a place to get a little sleep and nothing else in your price range is available, or if you are looking for something that feels more like an "Advanced" or "Fancy" hostel with private rooms then this is the place for you!
Well worth the price! Clean, Perfect location, nice staff It is a perfect stop in The old town, close to many nice restaurants and bars The price gives GOOD value, be aware of not double paying if you booked over a “ machine”
Booked via Booking.com. Booking.com told me they would charge me in CHF, fair game. The hotel decided to charge me USD using a hugely unfair rate. When I raised the question at the hotel, they told me that they would make sure that we would process the charge in CHF, even though the charge had been posted. I just didn't check my account, because I didn't expect them to charge me in advance. Booking.com insisted that "their hotel" charged me in the local currency despite the screenshot of my credit card account indicates otherwise.
I stayed for 9 nights in Hotel Villette. I came in the evening at 9pm and had to call the front desk lady who came almost immediately despite the late check in. The staff were always very friendly and if I had any questions would help immediately. I stayed in the single room with the shared shower. Both were always clean and were cleaned daily. The location of the hotel is absoutely great: 2 steps from bellevue, and walking distance to central and downtown for shopping. The hotel has a good Mediterranean restaurant downstairs, 2 steps from starbucks and Odeon café, 2 min from coop for groceries and a pharmacy. It is surrounded by many good restaurants as well. Since is close to downtown, it is very close if you fancy some shopping as well. For what you get, it's really worth the price. Would highly recommend.
I was for the short business trip to Zurich and find this hotel over booking for 75.- Chf , The location is great , the room is clean and very good Wifi that I could work . Helpfull Personal . Very silence in the night .
I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this scam. I booked hotel for Sept 5 through 7th of this year and I did call my Credit card company to authorize the transaction. The day when i was on the plane to Europe i received an email from the hotel manager (a very rude lady) that since my credit card was declined they cancel my reservation. I saw her email in London and on my way to Zurich and wrote a response asking to keep my reservation. I made an attempt to contact the hotel by call, the guy on the phone who answered said that they received my email and will hold on my room. However it wasn't the case. Instead we were given a different room with a common shower and restroom for the same rate we paid for the "all included room". The manager is very unprofessional - she said she cares about her business, not her clients almost literally. We didn't have much choice, so we stayed. It was a big undermine otherwise a very pleasant Zurich experience.
I stayed here for one night and it was horrific. The receptionist was rude and the room was a dive. single creeky bed, lights not working, toilet didn't flush. Reception was unmanned which left me screwed when i lost my key. When they finally arrived, i was charged 500CHF (£400) as the key opened the front door as well. Later that day i found the key and returned to the hotel. I was told that the money would be refunded. This did not happen. i then emailed and ask for proof. Money was apparently then sent (8days late), however no money has arrived. Having emailed repeatedly with no reply now, i have been forced to go to the Bank to retrieve my money. disgraceful place. would rather die that stay here... AVOID
Stayed here for two nights in May this year. There is no love or care in this hotel and the staff/owners act as if they are doing you a favour by allowing you to stay. Reception is unmanned majority of the time. Reception checked us in and we enquire about breakfast and was told there wasn't any (although Internet said that there was). Room was basic but cleanish. Problems were noticed as we used the room and these are as follows: no bedside lights (which meant getting out of bed in order to turn off light), one table lamp (this could not be used during our stay as socket was used for charging phones/devices as there was no other usable socket (Swiss converters are large)), double bed had a single quilt on it (the length of the quilt going across the bed so cold and draughty) - the quilt was stained and unclean, room safe was locked but also not attached to anything so basically useless, broken toilet pan and wobbly seat. On both nights we were kept awake until the early ours by the owner/managers 'entertaining' guests on the outside seating area directly under our room. The room was not serviced during our stay but someone had evidently been in to our room during our absence as 2 empty drinks bottles were removed from it. There was something disquieting about this as there was no waste bin in the room so whoever had been in just assumed they were rubbish (and the weren't!). Overall a very unpleasant stay and I am amazed that this hotel is still allowed to run. Expensive for what it is - avoid if possible.
I book one room directly from the website of the hotel for one night. Arriving at the hotel the receptionnist explained me that the reservation has been canceled. I was never informed and she had no document to prove it! At the end I had to pay more than 1.5 time the price! Because all my friends booked a room through a reservation center in that hotel and I wanted to stay with them, I had the feeling she took advantage of that situation. THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD IN A HOTEL, check the other comments for the quality of the hotel...
