Comfortable lodging

The manager (owner?) was lovely and gracious when we arrived. The hotel room met our needs and was comfortable. We enjoyed the antiques and old photos reflecting the age of the building. Breakfast was good with excellent service.

A nice stay and good value

Ascot House is lovely and walkable to the heart of York. The breakfast is abundant and convenient, and the beds are comfortable. However, the room was cramped for a family of four, as there was little space for luggage or to put things.

Warts and all...

It is a nice old family owned/run place. The extreme heat doesn't help in an old brick building. But i was never told about construction and put on the top floor/attic is tough. Breakfast was very good, flexible in a lovely period piece location. The street is noisy with buses and no AC. The top floor is very difficult (steep and narrow) so take note.

Really nice, traditional guest house, loved everything about it, except for the fact that dogs are allowed in the dining room. I cannot understand why people can’t be without their “little darling” for 15 minutes and why they think it’s ok to subject other guests to their dog in an area where food is consumed.
