Just coming to the end of a two night stay here and my wife and I both love the place and will definitely return again some day soon. Good location to the city centre, nice and quiet establishment, excellent service and fantastic breakfast. We stayed in a good sized room with a very comfortable canopied bed which also housed a very modern bathroom with a walk in shower. We usually stay in hotels on our journeys but would recommend a stay here should you wish to visit York. Another advantage is a convenience store just across the road should the need arise.
Spent 3 nights in the hotel and from start to finish the service and welcome was amazing. The room was very large with a really comfortable canopied bed, excellent bathroom with a walk in shower and toiletries supplied. The breakfast was plentiful and well cooked and the girls serving were a pleasure to talk to, always smiling helpful and polite. The location was excellent, a pleasant walk into York along a very safe road. The added bonus off a car park made it perfect. Don’t hesitate you really won’t be disappointed.
Lovely hotel helpfull staff lovely rooms I stayed in 21 and I am planning too come back next year for races again but the best is the breakfast best I've ever had pipping hot plenty choices too choose from woukd highly recommend this family run hotel for value for money you can't beat it
My wife and I booked a two night stay for her first visit to York. What a wonderful introduction to that splendid city. We were welcomed by a very nice lady and told we were in room 2, on the ground floor. The room is large and bright and very in keeping with the age and style of the hotel, and whilst the furniture was heavy dark wood, it was completely in keeping with the hotel. The room was spotless and there was a very modern en-suite which had clearly been recently upgraded to an exceptionally high standard. In addition the french windows opened onto an enclosed growing area with magnificent begonias growing and flowering in abundance. At night there was no road noise or any disturbance whatsoever, a good night sleep was a given. In the morning a leisurely breakfast was taken and it was exceptional. Grapefruit in syrup (my favourite) followed by a full English which was exceptional. Did I have any issues, not really I felt that the pillows were a bit hard but my wife was perfectly happy and the sausages that are apparently made to order for the hotel were rubbish, save your money. I swapped to extra bacon, an excellent choice as the bacon was outstanding. So not really a complaint, more a personal preference. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting York. It is around a 15 minute level walk into the heat of York and is on a main bus route. Taxis can be organised at reception and I understand the typical fare to be about £6.00.
On a rainy evening, we reached this destination and couldn't get the smile off our faces. Before we even stepped through the door, we knew this charming, Victorian mansion would exceed our expectations - and it did! Our rooms were ample in size and decorated exquisitely. The beds were very comfortable, the linens high quality and the bathrooms large and well equipped. The staircase to our rooms, landing outside our rooms and every common area we visited was like stepping back in well appointed time! The breakfast room was equally charming. Service, selection and quality of the breakfast was first rate. Our whole experience at Ascot House was 10 out of 10!!!
Just returned home from a lovely 2 night break at Ascot House. We all enjoyed ourselves, we had a lovely family room on the first floor which was lovely with lots of room. The bathroon was spotlessly clean with a fantastic shower so powerful. Breakfast was really nice. It was about a 15 minute walk into York. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
Very well located, just 15-20 mins to the heart of the city. The property is full of character and the room we had was beautiful. The room was also kept with the theme of the property but had a very modern bathroom. The bed was so comfortable and the whole atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. Lovely breakfast. Totally recommend it.
Excellent accommodation and the breakfast is amazing during our two night stay, nice and peaceful aswell. Great Place to stay if visiting York, short walk into the centre. Hosts very helpful on arranging taxi the day before we went to the races.
