Holiday Inn Winnipeg South3.0 out of 5.0

I am a business traveller and i typically spend a 3 to 6 weeks a year at this hotel located in south side of winnipeg. Normally the experience is fine this is typically a modest hotel with good value and clean accommodations. However due to the unfortunate fires in northern manitoba 2 weeks ago, many hotels have stepped up to house some of those displaced. While i applaud Holiday Inn for being one of these hotels, they get a service fee from third party organizations to house people in these situations. They also still try and accomodate the paying public. My complaint here is that no where on the website do they advise visitors or business travellers of the influx of people. The hallways are chaotic and loud at all hours of the night. Often several people per room and very loud 24/7. The experience is horrible inside the hotel and yet they choose to charge the same and provide no notice to the public. iHG and Holiday Inn should be more up front or at the very least reduce the price of rooms while they are in this transition to reflect the reduced value of their offerings. This has been going on since early september and they expect it to last another week or so... Be warned, stay away from this hotel until at least the third week in September. Here 3 days now and no sleep, i would have moved already but because i had no warning, its too late to rebook. . ING....disclose disclose disclose always the best policy.
We had a good stay at this hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The parking is a challenge, especially for us, because we had a pickup truck. There were dozens other pickups that had the same challenge. The parking stalls are very small and narrow. There are more stalls on the second floor, but one has to be careful manoeuvring around the pillars and walls. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. In fact, as a reference to people, this Holiday inn does not offer a free breakfast -- But does have a breakfast buffet that one can pay for. I did not pay for it in advance (at checkin), but the front desk person allowed me to pay for it after the fact. They are very accommodating. The breakfast was good, with a lot of variety. The wifi work everywhere. We would stay here again.
Very nice place, great views from the upper floors. Wifi is very reliable, clean rooms, great food in the restaurant and fantastic service. I would suggest the pickerel. Kids enjoyed the pool very much.
Rooms are comfortable, restaurant reasonable, parking is a challenge due to very small stalls, good location (10 minutes from downtown), many restaurants close by. The staff are friendly and quick to help with any requests.
I've stayed at this hotel for decades during my annual visit to Winnipeg. It is a low key, comfortable place to stay. The prices are reasonable, the rooms are clean and quiet, the staff is friendly, the location is convenient to downtown, as well as numerous restaurants on Pembina highway, the food is good, and on the few occasions I have had a complaint no matter how minor, Mr. Gore, the manager, has been extremely responsive. One caveat: on cold winter days when there is a north wind the rooms on the north side, especially the corner ones can be slightly chilly.
This is a Holiday Inn. That says it all. There is nothing fundamentally good or bad about this hotel. You could be anywhere and it would probably look and feel like this hotel. The room was fine, and comfortable, quiet as well. Service at the front desk was generally helpful. I did not have breakfast included (buffet), but I ordered off the menu and the food was fresh. Limited selection at the bar. Good amenities. Again, nothing memorable... but, broadly... all good and not much to complain about, either. The location is out of the way. There is not a lot in the way of restaurants, or much else for that matter, nearby. No doubt, you'll need a car. Finding a taxi was not always easy; there is a stand, but taxis appear to be hard to come by in Winnipeg. The downtown core is not that far off, if using a car. Frankly, I'd prefer to have been downtown. That being said, the price was right and the room was right. So, all is good.
Popular, it seems, with families. Friendly staff and good service. Good buffet breakfast, but it may end sooner than you wish, on weekdays. Free papers ran out on most days before we could get one. Beware the ground level parking with large, imposing pillars. Look for the other sections of the lot. Turning left into the property requires crossing the median in one of two openings. This is typical for Winnipeg. Clean, comfortable rooms. Probably the best hotel in the immediate area.
The hotel was very far away from both rinks my son and his team were playing on, the room cost was expensive and no breakfast vouchers were offered to the team. The parking space on the ground level was very small and tight; the parkade offered more spots but it was hard to maneuver with my van due to the huge poles at the end of each space! :( With respect to the actual hotel, the room was very clean and spacious, the beds were very comfortable, there were a lot of plug-ins and one set close to a mirror outside the bathroom (important to women!) and the hotel staff were all very friendly and gracious! Two thumbs up for that part! :)
We were on the 11th floor! and we could see so very far. Being from B.C. it was a great experience. We were there for a Masonic Conference. wonderful airy meeting rooms Lovely roomy room well appointed, Fridge, Microwave. There was a younger childrens hockey tournament on but they were on a lower floor so didn't bother us
We didn't stay at this hotel - my company uses it for large business meetings. We had a session with almost 100 staff for a breakfast meeting and presentation. A full buffet hot breakfast was provided - it was definitely hot and fresh. Juices and coffee/tea were refreshed by staff as they were getting low. The facility met our needs. We have already scheduled further meetings here.
