We booked a Lakeview suite and when we arrived we discovered scaffolding on the front of hotel which blocked our view. The windows were filthy and debris was scattered outside the windows. Workers were constantly outside our windows necessitating the drapes be shut all day. So much for our lake view. As well we could constantly hear them which made taking an afternoon nap impossible. The hotel seemed to think a discount of 20% would make up for this. How wrong they are! The manager would not speak to my husband personally although we asked to speak to them. The staff here are wonderful, the manager notwithstanding.
The breakfasts are below average. Everything was lukewarm, including tea. There are no teapots, no milk jugs. I wonder what the Department of Health and Safety would say to the food served at lukewarm temperatures? There is no hand sanitizer available in the buffet area. How soon we forget the lessons of COVID. We watched many people cough or sneeze into their hands and then use the common serving utensils.
In the rooms there are no face cloths, no Kleenex, no coffee maker. The blow drier in our room was very dirty, it needed to be cleaned, I hated using it.
There is much room for improvement at this hotel if it bills itself as a luxury hotel.
The employees here are its best asset. They’re really wonderful.
