Tired rooms with poor upkeep and maintenance. Contact lens on the bathroom door The towel hook wasn't attached so fell on the floor. The cord to the iron was damaged with wires sticking out. The TV was small with poor reception and the carpet was past it's best. Find somewhere else - this is nasty.
I have regularly stayed at the Everglades Hotel on a business stopover, although not for some time now. i find it to be a totally acceptable hotel, certainly has more personality and charm than the usual stopover hotels which are soulless, in my opinion. I have always found the staff to be helpful, polite, professional and most welcoming. I particularly am impressed with the way you are given your room number totally discreetly - a must for any female lone traveller. One negative on my last stay though, which was over a year ago... I secretly admired the lovely shiny bathroom, envious of the dazzlingly bright tiles, bath and mirror. The cleaners here must be very fit with all that scrubbing and buffing, I thought. However, I filled the bath...Great, Luxuriously deep bath, just about to lay back and soak, when I realised I had forgotten to bring in my face cloth and soap...Shoot, had to get out and get it. Went to climb back in bath when suddenly WHOOSH, I slipped right down the full length of the bath, totally submerged and shocked. I managed to get upright in bath, had a little giggle to myself, thanking goodness I had not been hurt. I then lay back, still sniggering and my daftness when i noted that water dripped from the ceiling. The splash was so great it hit off the ceiling and was now dripping on to me. I also had a look at the floor - it was swimming, I wondered why I had to put more water in bath! I threw down all the towels (sorry) to mop up and finished my bath. Got out and guess what? I Slipped again on wet floor. By this time I was rather annoyed. I opened the bathroom door and horrors of horrors, not only had the water gone on bathroom floor, it had seeped through and under the door. I spent my evening mopping up the carpet with what towels were left (sorry again) Anyway, my conclusion as to why the bath was so shiny? It must have been some kind of cleaning stuff that makes things sparkly, perhaps this could be looked into? So, an adventurous trip for me that time. Hopefully the nice reception staff don't notice my blushes if ever I check in again
We stayed here for three nights visiting friends in the area. When we checked in the Receptionist told us that she'd given us a room a good distance from Reception as there was to be a wedding in the hotel next day. Nice thought as the guests could have been a bit noisy!! We had a lovely big room with a nice view and breakfast was very good too. So no complaints. Good value
We spend last weekend at this hotel and to be frank, I really enjoyed the stay. A very good view from our room, the room was very spacious and the hotel service was fab! There's breakfast buffet for £10, which I think is worth a try! 10mins away from this hotel is St.Helens and there's lots of restaurants and supermarkets if you need anything. The only concern I had was the room was really hot, there was no fan or AC in the room. But besides that I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely recommend this hotel to my families/friends.
Visited the Best Everglades Park Hotel on 2nd to 3rd July '17. Really nice hotel and once settled in had a nice evening and stay. The meal came with a bottle of wine and the food was delicious with very generous servings. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Our room was fairly clean but nice and comfy. On arrival there was 2 partys going on so was unable to access the bar as they were private only and felt a little uncomfatable being placed on a bar table in what seemed to be the passage to the restaraunt so we could have a drink and sandwich. We retired to our room which was on the ground floor but window opened up onto the gardens with the private party which was noisy and not private. People looking in at you and childrens heads popping in the window. General maintence and housekeeping in room 106 could do with a looking at. Stained matress.s and protectors and dirty sheets left under matress.s. On the whole after 6pm it was a really nice evening away.
This hotel has no idea about customer service. They don't seem to go out of their way for you. Very disappointed. I find that a local bed and breakfast seems to be more attentive to my needs. Please don't bother folks.
Only stayed here one night, friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. A bit confusing exiting the car park, you need a code for the barrier when leaving but you've got to make sure you exit the right way so as to input the code into the machine. So if unsure just ask at reception etc..Would stay here again if visiting the area.
We stayed here recently as was convenient to the stadium. Hotel is very tired and needs modernising..... it's all beige!. Room was odd, as it opened out into a second room which had another tv, sofa's and a second bathroom..... why ? Free fruit consisted of 2 oranges and free soft drinks were 2 bottles of water !. At the bar they offered raspberry mohito... shame the receptionist that wanted to serve us did not know what she was doing. Had to wait too long to be seated at breakfast as only 2 people serving. To their credit...the cooked breakfast was hot. No sign of the continental breakfast (normally it is all laid out) only basics ie cereal. Had to ask for organge juice as jug was empty, Would I stay again.... yes if there was no where else available !
Stay here regularly , I think that tthey have so many regulars says a lot , The Staff always do their best to make the stay a good one. The quality of food is great, and a nice cold Guinness helps it to go down.
Staff very young, not trained and not supervised. Staff seemed to be expected to cover everything, Falty Towers here we come. Staff very helpful, they did their best but there was nowhere near enough of them, they covered reception, the bar, the dining room. You name it the same faces were behind the desk or the notepad. No sign of any senior staff or anyone above the age of 30. Ate in the restaurant the first night, very expensive and very, very poor food. Would not recommend eating here at all. Sunday lunch was going strong the day we left, this looked good but after our experience on our first night we were reluctant to risk it. Our first night there was 10 of us, the only people in the bar but there was nobody to serve us a drink. Only one poor young chap behind reception who had to deal with some unruly late arrivals on his own. There was a lot of noise in the corridor late in to the night, doors opening and slammed shut again and again. As the poor chap on reception was on his own did not want to ring down as he would not be equipped to cope if there was any trouble from the guests involved. Our second night we arrived back, there was a wedding on. Because the function room does not have a bar and the hotel bar was the wedding bar we as residents were not allowed in the bar. Two nights in a row we were unable to get a drink in our hotel. The young staff again did their best, they let us in to the restaurant and ran in and out to us with some drinks. Again, only young people around, no sign of anybody in a senior position. The rooms were okay, pretty clean. The hotel stairs and hallways were not, very grubby, worn carpet which was dirty when we arrived and still dirty when we left. It did not appear to have been hoovered over the length of our stay. Breakfast was included, it was ok. Standard fair, adequate but only just. Would not recommend.
