I spent a weekend in the Whitehorse, to see the departure of the Yukon Quest and the Best Western was an ideal place for me, since I needed a lot of protection in low temperatures. Service were good and a proper environment help me to feel the North :-)
Had a very comfortable stay but the plumbing in the bathroom wasn't what I was used to at home. Not sure if it was because of the style of the toilet , but it always seemed on the verge of plugging - it did plug once and they unplugged it right away but the toilet really didn't seem to clear the bowl very well. The shower was also a bit of a weak point as the pressure was low and the pipes in the walls gave off an intense whining sound if the shower was turned on. It was pretty unpleasant first thing in the morning so opted for a bath. Other than that, the hotel was very comfortable. Really enjoyed the fitness facilities and having such a spacious room.
Great hotel in downtown Whitehorse. The building is beautifully decorated in the gold rush theme. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Whitehorse and surrounding areas are eye candy for landscape photographers. I am looking forward to going there again!
Average for Whitehorse but preferable to competition. Nice it takes dogs. Rooms clean, everything mediocre, staff not very interested, just a job. Friendly and polite but not much in the way of customer service and attitude.
It has a good restaurant. The room is spacious, bathroom is clean and nice. Corresponds to the pictures people added in previous reviews. Location is very nice, just a short walk takes you to the river.
Nice hotel, although a bit pricey. We appreciated the approach this hotel took to our small dog. They require a $100 deposit for damage which is not charged if there is no damage. Other BWs we have stayed at only have 1 pet room and once that is booked, they are not so pet friendly.
The management and staff make my Whitehorse stay at the BW Gold Rush the highlight of my visit. The Main Street location puts me in immediate proximity with my clients, and I have never been disappointed when dining in the Gold Pan.
Had a lunch here in early October with my wife. Service was great. We had the special, Philly steak sandwich. Was very good👍. Price was as expected. Me being disabled, I had no problem negotiating from the lobby into the bar/restaurant. Was very busy with the lunch crowd. Handicap parking is very limited. Street parking is available but you will have to wheelchair/walk quite a distance to get onto a ramp up on the sidewalk. Overall a great lunch was enjoyed. May stay at this hotel one day?? Recommended.
A fabulous stay at the Best Western Gold Rush in. Lovely, friendly and helpful service from the front desk. Just one note you can hear the people walking around above you due to the construction of the buildings. But the beds are really comfortable and a good bathroom. Looking forward to returning.
4/5 for beds 0/5 for plumbing / hot water 3/5 for service / hospitality 2/5 for ambiance / decor 4/5 for location / town centrality Title says it all. The beds are very comfortable but the bathrooms must have been engineered by NASA and but the plumbing must have been approved by primary school drop outs. The room is adequate for one thing, sleeping. Trying to work at the desk or do anything other than watch TV in the room with two queen beds is damn near impossible. Again, it's not a bad place to sleep when people aren't stomping around above you. I would highly recommend getting the top floor if you wish to be undisturbed. Now the bathrooms...like a small dungeon. The clearance on the door and the toilet and razor thin. There aren't any windows, and the exhaust fans are there for show and noise only however you have the option to run it for a full hour. Again, not the worst I have ever seen, but one can certainly make it work. However, the water system SUCKS. I stayed in the hotel for a total of 4 nights and took showers at off-prime times. The water wouldn't stay at one temperature, no matter how many tiny incremental adjustments I made. Again, I made it work but I would be worried with small children or the elderly. My grandfather choose to take a cold show rather than fiddle around with the shower and risk getting burnt.
