Classic Poconos Cabin

Classic Poconos cabin will be familiar to anyone who vacationed there during the 80’s or 90’s. This one was well decorated and furnished, and had plenty of that charm of a beloved family vacation home. Lots of seating in the living room and a well stocked kitchen. Plenty of hot water and strong WiFi were great additional perks. Easy drive to access the grocery store and very close to the lifts. Neighborhood was nice and quiet!

Family vacation

Check in was easy but the directions on the website took us to the wrong house. Is was an ok house very tiny kitchen and living space for a ten person house. Which it is not. Barely sleeps eight people conformable. The bank window behind the couch is broken qnr had to go outside to push it in.

Listed location was an absolute lie

We were looking to rent a lakefront property in the Lake Harmony/Big Boulder Lake area so used that as our criteria. This location was listed as "On a Lake", said it was a "1 minute walk to Big Boulder Lake" and it's location was pinned right at the edge of Big Boulder Lake (I'd be happy to share screenshots of all of this but can't within the review here). We were sent the actual address a few days ahead of our stay and didn't think much of it. We punched it into our GPS and drove 4 hours only to realize as we were approaching that the actual location wasn't anywhere near the advertised location. It was an 18 minute drive by car to the location pinned on the map and the lake. It was late when we arrived so we had no choice but to stay at the property for the night. I looked to see if any of the other (actually lakefront) properties that I had been considering were still available but they were not. Obviously upset because we were lied to and tricked into renting this property, I called VRBO who had me email them the actual location and screenshots of the property listing but, in the end, they did nothing. Reps from Avantstay (property management company) claimed nothing was wrong with the listing & offered a tiny discount to a future stay with them which was a slap in the face. They have since changed the location & removed "Lakefront" wording from the property description but still claim they did nothing wrong. This is a clear case of "bait and switch" and business fraud.

Cozy and beautiful home

Cozy and beautiful home. The only issue I had was that it was not clean especially the downstairs bedroom. The ceiling and fan were full of dirt and cobweb, I wiped the fan cause i couldn't stand looking at all the dust. They really need to brush the cobweb from the ceiling and wipe the fans. Other than that, it was good.

Location is great but I don’t know if I would come back

The overall experience at the property is so so. Let’s start with the pro: awesome location, very close to Jack Frost and neighborhood is quiet. Property management is very quick to respond and very nice too. I understand that management is only helping property owners to manage the property, so I am not going to be too harsh on the management. But here are the cons: 1. The sink, bathroom really need some update. It takes forever for the water to drain. 2. the pans and pots are so beat up, it’s so sad to use them. 3. The sofa has cotton coming out of it, I would probably donate it to goodwill. 4. The check out instruction really makes the guest having doubt paying for the cleaning fee. Overall, the location is great. But if the owner decides to at least update the property, I would probably look for another one even if it’s further but at least it’s not beat up.

Perfect for teens

I (mom of 1 teen) took 8 high school boys to snow board and the house held everyone. The house had plenty of blankets and beds for everyone and lots of stuff to entertain everyone like games, foosball, table top pool table, and an Xbox. The lace was clean and tidy and is in a great location. We had a big snow and owners left a shovel and rock salt to help out. Plows came and cleared the parking while we were on the slopes so that was nice. Overall the house was as described.
