This is truly a treasure. Our room was great. The breakfast was fit for a king. The tour guide, Donovan, did a great job telling us the history of this beautiful mansion as we were blessed to see some of it treasures!

I enjoyed my stay. I think they should have better cable.

We stayed in the north wing of the plantation house in one of he historic rooms. The room was nicely decorated and had a large modern bathroom. The restaurant in the mansion was excellent for dinner and breakfast

Urine soaked mattress from the previous guest. The bed was made up with new sheets and under it was a urine soaked mattress. They brought a replacement mattress with dry urine stains on it. They don't use mattress protectors. Everything else was phenomenal! The food the staff the house and grounds...wonderful. I just don't recommend staying the night and if u do check the mattress!

Room was clean & beds comfy. I was sad to see a modern room as I thought my room would be decorated like what you would see in a plantation. At checkin we weren't told that we had to make reservations at the Plantation Restaurant. We arrived to dinner & said we didn't have reservations they didn't even take our name in case something came available. We had dinner at the bar. Gaylan was our server and she was amazing! The tour guide was nice and informative. My trip went south when I had something valuable stolen from my room. With no way to prove who took it I knew there was not much management would be able to do. I just asked the manager Jenn to please look at the videos and question employees who went into the room and cooperate with the police investigation. She was sweet and professional watching the tapes and telling me only two staff entered the room after the time I last saw my valuable, both of which she questioned and both said they never saw it. Although I really wanted to recover the item, I knew what could be done, had been done. Had that been the last of it I would have rated my experience with 3.5-4 stars. The following day I received a phone call from the General Manager Neil who threatened me "the victim" with attorneys and bogus charges if I wrote a negative review. I was shocked and appalled by this behavior & the handling of the situation, & the bullying. Then he banned me from the property! He never called to apologize for the threats.

ALL of the staff were so incredibly friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The room was immaculate, the house was stunning, the grounds were beautiful, and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. We cannot say enough wonderful things - our favorite staff person was Bob who works at nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with him each night as he made the rounds and he made every guest feel important. The tour of the property gave us so much information and the "museum" was wonderful. If you love history, make sure to get a room in the mansion! #13 is probably the best room!!

We stayed in the 3rd floor room overlooking the river. Great view. The room was awesome but the bed was very uncomfortable. A lot of noise kept waking me until about 4am but the grandeur of this old plantation made up for any inconveniences. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Just watch out for Bob. He can tell some tall ghost tales. I would definitely stay again

Atmosphere / Location - What's not to say about Nottoway.  An incredible historic Louisiana plantation less than 30 minutes from Baton Rouge.  The grounds are superb and very well kept.  Inside, your walked through incredible stories about the very well kept home and those who built it.  We even got to see a baby alligator in the pond... Rooms - We stayed in out of the cottages off of the pond.  Perfect room that made us feel right at home in the 1800's.   But with 20th century amenities of course. Amenities / Service - I recommend visiting the on premise restaurant.  Excellent menu prepared by excellent chef's.  The wait staff was outstanding, very courteous and accommodating.  I suggest trying the 'cane sugar flavored butter' with the warm 'table side bread'.  There isn't anything on the menu that didn't look and sound spectacular. Summary - We did the 'self guided' tour.  By the looks of things, the 'guided tour' was also very well done.  We decided to do the 'self guided' tour as we didn't want to rush through it and enjoy every moment.  After the tour and in the evening, we were able to chat with one of the very friendly ground keeper's Bob who had some additional excellent stories about Nottoway.  In all, a 'must visit' when looking for an awesome historic plantation in the area.

After a long 06FEB2017 touring other plantations and realizing Time would not allow us to see this one, we ironically stumbled upon Nottoway in the dark, just as we were becoming road weary (only 8:00!). I did some comparison online and found a good price for the room, 2 Queen beds NS in the Carriage House. Very patient gentleman at the front desk was most helpful. Our spacious room was very comfortable and quiet (after we unplugged the cleverly-disguised refrigerator, and after the last train passed by around 10? p.m.)...SO nice for sleeping. Awoke to thunder rumbling at daybreak. These warm, rumbling, quickly-passing heavy rainstorms later resulted in 2 separate Tornado Alerts. ("Alert" is beyond "Warning"!) We'd been watching the very good TV weather coverage from Baton Rouge when the first Alert buzzed on our cellphones. This was soon followed by an Alert announcement via room phone intercom, from the Nottoway Plantation office. An hour or so after that first Alert passed, we'd just checked out but decided to stay, hearing the next T-storm approaching. When the 2nd Tornado Alert sounded, we took cover in the Registration/Gift Shop area with the Very Helpful Staff (and the Russian-speaking couple from Cypress). Finally, that storm cell passed, and the day turned sunny albeit very breezy. We finally felt safe to leave at 11:30 a.m. "Next time" we would like to actually make sure and TOUR the grounds and facilities of this lovely resort built on the Plantation!

I took my 9 year old grandson. We had a good time..

The beauty can not be beat! I felt so relaxed here! My room was one of the overseer's cottage rooms, so it had the quaintness of historic turned modern. The furnishings were very attractive, including antiques, but some, like the bathroom vanity, had obviously taken a beating and could stand to be replaced. My giant king sized bed was both beautiful and comfortable, my room was clean & everything was in working order. Wifi, on the other hand was VERY difficult to catch even in the restaurant. It was non-existent in my cottage. (I had a co-worker stay in one of the new cottages & he experienced the same with the Wi-fi; however, his furnishings were quite new & very attractive.) Speaking of the dining room, the staff are top notch! I ate at Ramsey's Mansion Restaurant almost every night of my stay. Be sure to enjoy a mint julep - the best $10 you'll spend there! The food was delicious! The selection was far more than adequate. I can't rave enough about the dining experience. Visit the little museum. Caution about the mosquitoes: they are literally EVERYWHERE & in great abundance. I had to spray myself to walk from my room to the restaurant or the lounge (workout room, TV & computer, pool table: NOT a bar.) I'm not sure if abatement is in order or other measures would even work given this is in the heart of sugarcane country & right on the river, but you need to know that the mosquitoes will eat you alive! BE PREPARED! I didn't have time to tour the big house. Maybe next tim

The staff is the best I can recall interacting with in recent memory. We enjoyed the restaurant, and thought it was a better venue than any of the top restaurants we tried in Baton Rouge. We had our dessert on the mansion balcony overlooking the Mississippi at night, which was the most enjoyable experience we had on our entire trip. The staff were exceedingly friendly, helpful, and relaxed.

Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant. I had stayed here previously several years ago, and it lived up to my idyllic memories and then some. I would definitely recommend taking time to tour the Mansion as well as the grounds. Great place to stay and experience some of the authentic southern history!

Stayed in the Overseers Cottage right next to the mansion. Loved the grounds, the room and the dinner at the restaurant. All the staff were great. It was a unique experience to stay on the plantation.

Very nice, very interesting hotel with a great restaurant. Tremendous value. I recommend it strongly.

Excellent food and service in the restaurant. Tour of historic house engaging and professional. Room in the old "boys; quarters" quite nice. Grounds both during the day and at night were beautiful. There on a Mon. night/Tues. so no weddings going on but that might have impinged a bit as think they schedule a number of them.

FINDING the plantation is a real barrier for many non-area residents, so allow plenty of time for the trip. We were in a carriage house room -- lovely, clean, spacious and well-appointed. Be forewarned that if you are upstairs, there are NO ELEVATORS. Do not miss the guided tour of the property. It provides a better appreciation. Go to the Museum for even more background. The food is plentiful for the breakfast buffet, and the dinner was nicely presented. Southern fare overall with regional Creole/Cajun influence. There are many areas needing new paint, window washing, and rehab; however the lasting impression is favorable.

"Robbed and Threatened by Staff" My name is Neil Castaldi, Owner and Manager of Nottoway Plantation. Everything this guest has said, is absolutely true. However by omitting couple important and relevant facts the story becomes totally distorted, ending up with his headline "Robbed and Threatened by Staff" The item the guest "claims was stolen” was a loaded and cocked 9MM gun, claiming he had it first placed in the guest safe (provided in each room), but he did NOT locked it, then he claimed he might have it left on the bed when he was packing his suitcase for his departure. After repeated attempts by our Assistant GM, Jen Donald to research every possible leads leading to the guest claimed incident, security cameras were reviewed for over 2 hours, and the only movement was observed from a couple with a child (friends of the guest) At this point according to the guest the loaded gun could have been on the bed waiting to be packed, with the child inside his room. After his repeated attempts to clearly intimidating my staff into accusing them of theft, I decided to call him up and again assure him that we do not have ANY employees working here capable of doing such a thing, but I also asked him to take some responsibility for coming to our hotel with a loaded and cocked gun into our facility and expose a minor to such behavior. I advised him that we would call the local police and make an official report on the incident. I also advised him that according to the Sheriff of Iberville Parish a close friend of mine and of Nottoway, he might have committed a violation on his permit to carry a concealed weapon on a liquor licensed property, without ever notifying Management in advance. It was obvious the guest was just looking for a discount on his room charges at which point I ended the conversation. Neil Castaldi Owner/ Manager Nottoway Plantation & R

We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us, and that you found our history interesting. We wish we could convert to gas as well to really get a feel of what it would be like back in the 1800's, however it is more conducive and safe to keep our lamps electric. We hope to see you back for a visit in the near future.
