Unfortunately we had a small (but comfortable) room that was only average value for money. This hotel has beautiful views of the harbour but even though we paid significantly more than the rate advertised on the day we were in a back room with a view of a wall. Bathroom was a good size but despite our best efforts to prevent it when showering water escaped from somewhere all over the floor. Excellent car park for Wellington and if no parks available valets take care of your car so no complaints there. Great location. Overall I would stay again without hesitation if I could get a room at a competitive rate.

Great room with view of Harbour and Museum. Helpful staff. Make sure to spend a few extra $$ for the view cause it is worth it.

My husband and I stayed at the Museum Hotel a few months ago, and we weren't impressed with our dark room, even though we loved the hotel and its central location. The decor is funky, featuring the work of local artists in the foyer. The atmosphere is intimate and the hotel is near the waterfront as well as tthe national museum, a few great restaurants, shops, movies, theaters, a great supermarket and our favorite bakery, Pandoro. But this time, we were in a studio apartment and it was amazing. Though the decor could use a bit of sparkle, the suite had a beautiful bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen including a washer/dryer. We loved every minute.

Wellington is the BEST city in NZ. Great vibe, loads of restaurants and bars, gorgeous waterfront, interesting architecture, and Te Papa, the nation's museum which is a standout...and free. We stayed in an apartment at the hotel...fully equipped with dishwasher and even a washer/dryer. Well appointed room and quite comfortable. Great location across from the Te Papa and waterfront. Sunday market is just across the street. Lots of restaurants and bars in surrounding streets. Be sure to take the cable car to the top of the hill (a modest $3) for a spectacular view of the city. Then walk back down through the fabulous botanical gardens. You could spend a day in there!
