The bed was comfortable is all I can say was good. Maggots in the light fixtures, wall cracked and heavy paint peeling in the bathroom, poor water pressure, very outdated building, extremely rude lady at the front desk seemed annoyed we were even there to check in. Didn’t bother eating there as it was way too expensive. Too far from the CBD as well however they did have free parking.
dated, lots of stuff broken in the room, bathroom unacceptable wall coming off, heater did not work, to noisy, need a total over hall.food was very bad, service unprofessional.do not stay here it is not worth it
This hotel hasn't had an upgrade since the 80's. I used the wifi till my time ran out and I was told I had to pay $7 for more time. The shuttle was convenient. The rooms were clean. The only reason to stay here is if you want to drop off your rental car and take their shuttle in the morning.
Stranded in Wellington, first visit to New Zealand and our flight was cancelled due to bad weather - airline booked us in for the night!! The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a twin room - beds were comfortable. The decor was aged but clean. For a night stop I would definitely recommend.
I stayed at the Brentwood for 3 nights on a business trip arranged by another party. It's one redeeming feature is that it is relatively close to the airport. Its decor is dated, the room I stayed in had paint peeling off the walls. I could hear the person snoring in the room next to me & the wooden floor above me creaked with every step of the person who got up at 4 a.m. The restaurant charged $31 for a very small & chewy fat streaked piece of steak with chips & the smallest serving of brocollini. The waiter looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. The van driver who took me to the airport was cheerful & friendly.
We stayed at The Brentwood to allow us to catch early international Qantas flights, and have a comfortable place to sleep when flying in again at midnight. The complimentary shuttle from the airport was great and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and clean and all you will need when flying in and out of Wellington. Yes there are people coming and going during the night as this hotel is close to the airport, but we did not find it overly noisy. We found the stay comfortable and pleasant and would recommend as a stopover option.
This hotel does it's job sufficiently. It's generally pretty tidy, though not elaborate. The staff are friendly, and the meals are ok (though the eggs taste like gross powdered eggs I've gotten overseas before). I had an issue with parking on site, which was limited due to inconsiderate guests and an inconvenient layout of the parking lot, so ended up parking on the street. The biggest problem I had was the noise at night. The place is NOT quiet. I got woken up from people knocking on other doors - it was loud enough I thought it was on mine. I got woken up by people coming down the hall - the floor squeaks and squawks. I got woken up all all hours by the people in the room upstairs. I got woken up by the noise of the parking lot. Just as well I use a sleep "rain" app on my phone to drown out the rest!!
I attended the NZDF Convention held over three days at the Brentwood. We made use of three rooms which suited our requirements very well. Even though there were other meetings on at the same time there was no feeling of crowding. The bedrooms rooms were spacious (even with four sharing) and had everything we needed.
Stayed for a couple of nights in September and really happy overall. Located in Kilbirnie so a fair hike from central Wellington but super super close to airport. Downside to that of course is you have the jets flying over at low altitude which is very noisy. Room itself was fine. Not flash but had the basics you need. No newspaper in the morning despite requesting one but this seems to happen at most places so not peculiar to this hotel. Kilbirnie is a surprise with supermarkets very close by (10 minute walk) as well as a couple of good restaurants. Recommend Tandoori Heritage for great Indian cuisine or stay at the hotel for some great meals. Sure the rooms are dated and you can hear people walking around on creaky floorboards upstairs at all hours but for the money it can't be beat. I'll be back for sure.
Great venue to leave your car, stay the night before flying out and coming back. Food was nice and waitress friendly. The shuttle bus was bang on time when we got back at midnight. Room was spacious and the shower was good to freshen up before and after our flights.
