Lovely clean upmarket rooms, room service and restaurant very nice. Great location and valet service very good. Only thing I wasn't happy with was how a staff member spoke to my adult daughter when she wanted to wait in the bar area for me. He was rude and had I been alone I would have confronted him about it. Did spoil an otherwise pleasant stay.
Spent two night at the hotel and was very impressed. At check in the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are of a good size, very clean with modern bathroom. It’s in a great quiet location not far from anywhere. We did have buffet breakfast both morning and found it to be good quality. The service however was pretty slow and the staff were busy clearing the breakfast tables getting ready for lunch rather than looking after the guests in the restaurant. Service could be improved for the restaurant.
We really enjoyed our stay at the InterContinentsl Wellington. It was a short walk to the harbour, museum, cafes, bars, sky rail and supermarket. Beautiful room and friendly staff, we would definitely stay again if in Wellington.
Hotel was nice, very friendly staff, the concierne helps us doing phone calls and assisted us with our trip. Rooms were comfortable. I notice the hotel corridors were not vacuum. Restaurant food expensive, portions very small, taste good, but you left wanted more.
Four nights over Christmas in a Club room, with Christmas Day lunch in Chameleon Restaurant made for a very relaxing break. The staff were as good as ever, although the Lounge service was a little slow on occasion - but, to be fair, that's mostly because the staff were chatting to other guests (including us!) and making them feel welcome and at home. In addition, on a couple of nights the Lounge was full. Special thanks to Eugenie, Jessica, Nick, both Jamies, Maria, Alexandra and the others (missed your names - sorry!) for top-notch service. The Christmas lunch was excellent, and I could not fault any of the courses, but the crayfish to start and duck that followed were especially memorable. Stylish Christmas table settings (with crackers, which were also in the Lounge at breakfast) added to the atmosphere and the fact that the restaurant was full was hardly noticed. The only negatives this stay were minor, and both to do with the room. The electric drape was not working (not a biggie), and the room was above Featherston Street so we got some street noise (although, being on Level 8) it meant some lovely afternoon sun that you don't get on the harbour side. More 4.5 stars this stay than 4.
Spacious room; attentive service; impeccably clean. Really appreciated the usb hub on the nighttable. Just one block in from the waterfront, and far enough away from the cruise ship port that nearby sidewalks aren't clogged with clueless tourists.
We traveled to NZ to celebrate New Years Eve and chose to book a Club Room at the Intercontinental as I thought access to the club lounge would give us a great view of the harbour late on NYE. Would you believe that the lounge closed at 10pm. Had I known this I would have booked a harbour view room and saving myself some money. That said the staff and facilities were great.
We were here over New Years. Our room was exceptional. The service on the other hand has much to be desired. We were supposed to receive wine and fruit when we arrived. It came the next day minus the fruit and with the wrong recipient names on it. Plus there was only one glass. I guess they didn’t realize there were two People Even though there were two names on the registration. We Ordered room service and they called back 20 minutes later and said they didn’t have one of the items we ordered because their menu had changed. We placed a different order and then when we got the bill the price was incorrect because we were supposed to have a different menu in our room and the prices had gone up $7 per Item. The pool and restaurant were great. We had dinner one night there and breakfast two days and it was good. They have too many “interns” working there and the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. Would not stay there again.
After a few initial hiccups when trying to book over the phone (their phone system wasn’t working properly and no one answered the front desk - we ended up having a very pleasant two day stay. The pool is great and the staff friendly and helpful - Keith in concierge especially. Perfectly located central to everything.
The Intercontinental was a wonderful hotel and we wish we had been able to stay more than a night. The room was clean, spacious and had a modern and clean bathroom, tv and other amenities. It is easy to walk around the city from the hotel. When the hotel discovered it was our honeymoon, they delivered a bottle of champagne to us. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, carrying our bags, storing our luggage and more. Concierge was great as well. The only downside was that we had to pay for parking but $35 for the night was not bad at all. Would highly recommend as a place to splurge in Wellington.
