Hotel review.

This Hotel is going through some restoration's at this time, check-in staff are doing a fantastic job with very limited room to operate in. All staff were excellent, even the lady that cleans the room asked if there was anything more she could do. overhaul a really great Hotel in the Heart of Wellington city. Very clean, and very well run.

We had a premium king room with a water view. The restaurant on site was closed. We were really looking forward to eating there and wouldn’t have booked if we knew that ahead of time. The staff was amazing - check in, concierge, laundry pickup, towel drop off, etc. The bed was comfortable. The other furniture was…odd. It was like someone had dropped off furniture without checking to see if it fit in the room. There was one desk/counter after the kitchenette that we placed one suitcase on. At the end of the tv cabinet was another desk, and we placed the other suitcase there. This desk was in 2 feet in front of the corner window. There is nowhere else to put suitcases. Right next to that is an odd round table where they thoughtfully placed 2 bottles of water. To get at the curtain behind the desk, you have to move the table! Next to that is a loveseat placed three feet in front of the bayside window. It was all so strange. I shoved the loveseat against the window. My husband thinks it was so you could get at the long curtains. I think all they have to do is put shorter curtains. The bathroom shower has a rain head and a handheld. If you stand under the handheld, your butt is up against the metal hose & the rain head drips cold water on you. If you use the rain head instead, the pressure is too weak to penetrate your hair. Unless you’re bald, like my husband. The tile floor is slippery. The toilet is a wall push button which caved in our last day.

They had some renovations happening so 3am they turn generator just outside our room it was very noisy we could not sleep at all. Service was great but due to generator nioce going for few hours ruined our stay.

We have been visiting this hotel for some years now and up until this visit we would score 10 out of 10. This time there were a few things not up to the 5 star service. The breakfast staff were great however… - The King bed was sagging in the middle, very uncomfortable. - The carpet in room 613 was dirty and could do with a proper clean. - A black hair in our dessert at the hotel restaurant…..ewww, no apology. - No tea bag selection and no fresh water after the room was serviced. - Leaking overhead shower head with cold water when using the wall mounted shower head. Noisy staff in and out of a small service cupboard near our room at various times in the night. An unfriendly staff member at checkout in the morning. Small things we know but not up to the usual standard expected for a 5 star, top end hotel with top end pricing.
