Hampton Inn Wausau

GOOD STUFF: very clean. Close to interstate. In Wausau, nearly everything is within a 10 mi radius. Staff was kind, cheerful, & understanding. Intelligent design of the shower. At breakfast, there was actually a place to escape the t.v. Yay! NEGATIVE STUFF: There 4 little wire baskets instead of real drawers. 2 foot stools on wheels (where the drawers were). The bedside stands were just a small shelf. Again, nowhere to put our folded clothes besides my suitcase. The shades/curtains had no sheers, so on the first floor, people could look right into the room. Also, whoever designed the shades/curtains made them too short from side to side. Therefore, no "blackout" curtains here. Most hotels have a binder that has useful information in it. Not here. There was a collection of slips of paper approximately 3 inches by 3 inches with minimal information on them. (Didn't even have the time breakfast was being served on them). Breakfast was lame. The fresh fruit was not fresh at all! And there are still no recycling bins anywhere! Not in the rooms, not at breakfast, not in the lobby. This problem is on the corporate level. Come on, Hampton Inn, get with the program !

Excellent service and professional, friendly staff

Hampton Inn never disappoints! The rooms are always clean. Friendly staff and the breakfast hits the spot.

Staff was very friendly, breakfast was tasty, room was clean.

Staff friendly and helpful. When we asked the location of a restaurant, the gal at the front desk opened a file box and gave us a copy of detailed directions. Travelling with an elderly person can be a challenge. Staff moved us from a third floor room to the first floor closest to the lobby so we had easy access to everything. The room was quiet and comfortable. Pillows and bed were great. Plan to stay at Hampton on all our trips and will definitely return to this one!

Stayed 2 nights for class reunion. Room wasn't huge, but was clean. Hotel was full both nights, but room was quiet. Breakfast was mediocre, but OK.

No problems, everything excellent as always :-) (See my earlier review for more details)

its just like they advertise comfortable homey and quiet

Last time we were in town, we stayed at a pricey hotel downtown. But the Hampton did a much better job all around for a lower price. The staff was amazing, and without exception went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Great buffet for breakfast and evening snack - way more variety and greater care in preparation than most other complimentary meals out there. Room was spotless and well-furnished, easy WiFi access, comfy whirlpool... would definitely stay here for any future visits to Wausau.

Top notch Hampton Inn! From the lobby to the room it was very clean, nicely decorated and a VERY helpful and friendly staff. We were so impressed with everyone we spoke with. Delicious breakfast and coffee! Will stay here whenever we visit Wausau.

I found this hotel to be very nice, but also overpriced. The room was clean and nice, well furnished. The community hot tub left myself and several other guests with red, burning, irritated eyes. To me, this suggested an over-concentration of chlorine in the water. Otherwise, the room was nice, the breakfast great, but the price too high.

Overall good time. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. We were given extension cords for our Cpap machines,. Loved the 24 hour coffee. Group made use of PC,hot tub,and excercise room. Both days breakfasts were very good. Room was a little tight, and prefer closet in front not back of room, but that's picking knits.

Staff was excellent, room was spotless, kids loved the pool which was warm and nice snack bags to take to ski hills. Close to The Great Dane restaurant; which serves great meals. Rooms were smaller than average but will definitely return again.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Wausau and we were very impressed how this hotel is run. Everybody was extraordinary friendly and helpful. The only downside is the breakfast. It was very busy and the area seemed to small for the number of people that were there. Also, I do not understand what big of a deal it would be to have real china and silverware available instead of styrofoam and plastic. It would be better for the environment and it is also nicer. We skipped breakfast the second day and went to a real restaurant.

above average - clean with great service

I was impressed with the styling of the hotel. Looked newly remodeled with lots of woodwork, flat panel tv's and artwork. Looked like it had a designers touch that other hotels don't. Excellent breakfast bar, staff was very friendly. Did not use pool and fitness center, but htey looked nice.

I was on a business trip and was a foot in the evenings and wanted to walk to resturant but the hotel was surrounded by snow. No sidewalk or way to cross over to the other properties so I could get food. Just need a crossover or some way person on foot can get around. Not to far to walk just no where to walk without getting hit by vehicles on the road, or cross stream with ice and water. Hotel employees were extremely friendly and helpful.

I would have chosen another hotel had I known they were under construction. There was exposed wall insulation that of course, my children were very intrigued with - terrible safety hazard, much noise, drilling and hammering, workers coming and going with drywall. The eating area/lobby and check in area was WAY too small for the number of guests - no tables to sit to eat, food and beverages ran out, despite the breakfast staff working very hard to accommodate. Just not set up well to serve the number of guests booked for the ski season I guess. Hard wood floors were pretty but not very safe when skiers and guest coming and going in boots from the snow left water, ice and puddles on the floor...often slippery, unsafe and unclean - We were very disappointed and will not stay here again, despite the location and price - it wasn't worth it for us with small children.

We stayed for here for a ski weekend and loved it. The room was spotless, big bathroom for getting your gear on, Nice Flat Screen TV, super comfortable beds and pillows. You could see Granite Peak from the window it was only about 1 mile away. The night staff was excellent and the breakfast was Great. The only Downfalls were the elevator was not working that night and into to the next morning and the hot tub jets were busted as well. If you are looking for places to eat there is tons of options within a 5 mile radius of the hotel and the freeway is about .5 mile away
