We stayed here last year and absolutely loved it, we were so looking forward to stay here again this year, unfortunately this time around we were left very disappointed. To start, I booked the exact same room as I did last year, prices this year were close to double! I requested the same room as last year or at the very least a 2nd floor unit, I also called ahead of time and was told this should not be a problem. Upon checking in I was informed that 2nd floor units are apparently 'premium' & I did not book that, so they could only give us a 1st floor unit. We stayed in room 1913 for a week, although we loved our overall stay in Waikoloa, Kohala Suites was disappointing. Room 1913 has a bug problem: tiny ants all over the kitchen, they seem to come out of everywhere! Mosquito infestation in the twin bedroom room, you'd get bit just by walking by, the worst part was finding a cockroach on our last night! (See photos) I was going to bring this up when checking out, but the representative didn't even ask how our stay was!? Overall we were very disappointed with our stay, and feel like we overpaid. They do have so much staff onsite, but they all seem to be driving around in golf carts all day and not doing any cleaning.
Wonderful
We really enjoyed our time at this property. It was well kept and very spacious with lots of amenities
We had a great time
Beautiful spacious & clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, & beautiful property! Definitely planning on returning! Absolutely love Waikoloa!!
Do not stay here. It is run down and pathetic. Most of the restaurants are not open. To get from the lobby to the Ocean Tower is 20 minutes. It’s entirely frustrating. Oh, and pathetic.

Beautiful property the front desk staff as a little difficult but besides that beautiful
Best experience ever!!!! Beautiful space, clean rooms, great service
As a seasoned Pacific Rim traveler I can say that Hawaii's Big Island is by far the most impressive Pacific destination that I have seen. It is an outdoor type's paradise and is breathtakingly beautiful. The Hilton Grand Vacation's Club at Waikoloa Village is a great place for families. The rooms are HUGE and the prices are very reasonable. There is a fitness center, 24 hour front desk, and concierge service available only steps away from the villas. As a guest at the Vacations Club you get full room charge privileges at the beautiful Hilton Resort (about 1 mile down the road). The only down side is that there is no maid service...that means no fresh towels, but you get a washer and dryer so who cares - wash them yourself! I live and work overseas and I met some members of my family there at the Big Island as a halfway meeting point and it just doesn't get any better for family vacations. A rental car is a MUST the Big Island is HUGE and many of the unbelievably beautiful sights are up to a 2 hr drive away. Parking is free at the vacations club so is wireless internet.
My 5 year old son and I spent a week at the Hilton Grand Vacation resort. For us it was a great decision. With a car, we were two minutes to the Hilton Wailkoloa resort, and had full use of their facilities with free parking. If you plan to park yourself at the Hilton Waikoloa all day, then I can see where that may be a better option for some than the Grand Vacation. We were only a few afternoons at the Waikoloa lagoon, and spent everyday exploring the island. The pool at the Grand Vacation resort is much smaller than the Waikoloa Hilton, but we never spent any time there anyway. The Grand Vacation is a perfect location to end up at the end of a long day, with two bedrooms, full kitchen and living room. I found the Hilton Waikoloa too much like a Disneyland resort with it's monorail train and fake lava waterfalls. The Big Island has so much to offer, that it seems a waste to spend it sitting by a pool. My son did the Atlanitis Quest dolphin experience at the Hilton Waikoloa. Expensive, but at 5 years old he loved it. I was content to watch from the sidelines and take photos. One day was spent driving through Hilo, which is a cool town, to stay at the Volcano Inn (good location for a day at the Volcano National Park). We hiked the Kilahuea Iki trail, which is not to be missed. I was concerned that it would be tough on a 5 year old, but it is an easy hike through incredible landscape of jungle and the volcano caldera. We took the Blue Hawaiin helicopter tour of the volcano. Good operation, but not a lot too see, with little volcanic activity at this time. I would pass if I had to do it again. One day we went on the Adventure X Rafting whale watching tour. Great operation, and the my son loved it. We saw a few whales, but none too close. It all comes down to being in the right place at the right time with whale watching. A few weeks before our trip, I finally got my son using a mask and snorkel, so we booked the Fairwind snorkel dive to Kealakekua Bay. I don't know about the other dive boats, but the Fairwind is great for kids. A 60' Catermaran with water slides was one of the highlights of our trip. The diving is great, and the boat a lot of fun. We also tried to explore as many kid friendly (calm, protected water) dive locations as possible. The better spots we found were Spencer Beach Park, about 45 minutes north of the hotel, Kahalu'u Beach Park in Kona, Richardson Beach Park in Hilo and our favorite, but off the beaten path, was Kapoho tidepools about an hour out of Hilo. Loved the Hilton Grand Vacation for lodging, and the highlights of our vacation were the less expensive, or free expeiences of hiking the Kilahuea Iki trail, diving on the Fairwind catamaran, and diving at the Kapoho tidepools.
Beach, snorkeling, visit to HI volcano national park, manta rays dive (day & night)

Dear Erin: I am so sorry to hear of your poor experience. I am curious as to which property you stayed? as you mentioned the OT property distance. The Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel is a very large property and getting around does take some extra time. We strive to keep our property clean and in good condition. The next renovation here will happen in 2023. Please feel free to reach out to the resort directly if you'd like to discuss further. We do thank you for staying with HGV in Waikoloa. Much mahalo. -David
