If you need the perfect stay in a beautiful relaxing surroundings this is the spot you should look for. Started with a very nice owner couple Chris and Eric who explained everything of House and scenic points perfectly, we enjoyed a room furnished and decorated perfect with i believe the best bed ever; and with rainforest view in the garden. There are only 2 rooms to book so I expect it will be sometimes difficult to get a room reserved. Again the best spot to relax only take care of your Alimentation by yourself, Chris and Eric offering a selection in the fridge; but next restaurants are limited.
This place is amazing. Chris and Eric are so warm and welcoming. The room we had, Haiku, was stunning, beautiful decor, amazing huge bed, fabulous bathroom with heated floors, no detail was overlooked. But the main WOW factor was the floor to ceiling windows looking into the actual rain forest. Breathtaking. Having coffee on the Lanai, with the sound of the frogs and birds, well you just have to see this place to believe it. And yes, the hot tub with the sprinkling rain was amazing. If you are looking for privacy, beauty, great homemade banana bread in the mornings, and being centrally located in Volcano -- look no further. Thank you guys for making our three days up in this magic place so memorable. We hope to make it back there before too long.
My husband and I arrived here after diving for a few days in Kona. Eric and Chris are super personable and fun to chat with. Eric has beautifully manicured the grounds- we felt as though we were tucked away deep in the middle of the rainforest from the view we had from our room. The sheer curtains were no problem as we had complete privacy. The upscale bungalow is furnished with warm wood and stone touches, exposed wood beams, comfy bed, and an armoire complete with a decently stocked mini kitchenette! So clever for late night and morning munchies (we ate the noodle cup 😋). Also- Eric leaves mini homemade banana nut breads that are A+++ (I’m a bakery snob, these are legit). Relaxing in the hot tub with wine, listening to frogs singing amongst the pitter patter of the rain, was magical. If you want to stay in a place close to the entrance of Volcano park, while supporting people who work hard to make this island incredibly welcoming, then this is the guest house for you.
One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed! I came for the Volcano half-marathon and had a quiet and relaxing stay in an incredible room and setting with wonderful hosts. I would recommend a visit to this part of the Big Island just so people could stay here! I hope to come back yearly for a good run and a perfect retreat!
This place is gorgeous and Chris and Eric are fantastic hosts! The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, and very comfortable. Eric baked us some delicious banana bread and all the fresh fruit was amazing too. Even better, Chris and Eric are so friendly and helpful. They gave us great advice on where to adventure (and eat!) all across the island. Crater’s Edge is truly a gem, we loved our time there!!
We stayed here for three days during our visit to Hawaii and this paradise was by far the best accommodation we had on all the islands. Incredible. Lovely room, really the best bathroom I have seen in a long time and every detail perfectly done and thought through. Be it an incredible modern large shower (sorry Waldorf Astoria and Koa Kea, you don't even come close) or drinking water from an artesian fountain (presented in an artisan water spender), or having a lovely thoughtful collection of organic snacks at our disposal...it was really great. Spending our eves at the Jacuzzi in the rain forest with a glass of wine did make our day. I could go on and on, because everything was so perfect. Chris and Eric were wonderful hosts, Chris the organizer and Eric the artist. You guys really are a great team. Without you we wouldn't have seen the amazing Lava glow in the sky from a place nobody would expect (Pahoa) - and which by chance also has a lovely Italian restaurant. Thank you so much, both of you, and when we come back to Hawaii we're definitely going to stay with you longer than three nights. It was the highlight of our holidays.
Fell in love with this retreat immediately. Lush rainforest stay with with hosts who definitely have attention detail. Nothing was missed!! We loved everything from the perfectly kept mini rainforest around us, the carefully chosen furniture on the property (yes, I noticed!) to the prosecco, home made banana bread, fresh fruit and the best stocked fridge we had during our entire stay in Hawaii. Eric is full of enthusiasm and did not miss a beat getting us up to date with what to do, where to eat etc. Very much appreciate the care and consideration put to our stay and will recommend this to everyone who visits Big Island. P.S. there is no indoor pool but there is a hot tub!! and a fire place :)
This hotel is truly a recommendation to stay. The place is amazing, the staff very polite ad helpful. The hospitality is wonderful. The breakfast is very tasteful! If you want a good place to spend a few days, this hotel will serve you well! My compliments to the owners Chris Becker and Eric Dickerson for giving my daughter so much love and attention and definitely a good memory. Hope to be able to visit again!
What a lovely, tranquil spot to stay while visiting the Volcano area! A cozy nest with everything to feel comfortable and cared for. Chris and Eric provide such wonderful, warm hospitality with an eye for detail. There are lots of special touches like flowers, quality snacks, luxurious linens, special bath products, etc. They even checked before we arrived to see what we needed and when we requested half and half-they had organic available! The sound of the birds and rain and view of the tropical jungle outside your window adds to the magic. We highly recommend this beautiful spot!
We stayed here two nights and would do so again. The owners are absolutely delightful, friendly and kind. The Haiku Garden room was beautiful and very well appointed. As others have noted, there was fresh-baked banana bread in the room along with a basket of fresh fruit. The refrigerator was stocked with cheese, crackers, yogurt, juices, milk and sparkling water. A variety of snacks were also provided, as were earplugs for the occasionally barking dogs across the street. What I wish we had understood was the housekeeping policy. We have never stayed in a B&B, or any lodging, where the room wasn't serviced every day. When we returned from our visit to the park in the afternoon, we were shocked to see that the room had not been touched. The dirty breakfast dishes and coffee cups were still there. We did not understand that we were to ask for clean plates, cups and utensils, as well as more yogurt (or any other food items). As soon as we did, everything was delivered quickly! The philosophy (policy) is that the guests' privacy is to be respected. Totally. My advice is to STAY HERE but know what you are getting (or not getting). It's a beautiful, comfortable retreat and we will definitely return next year.
