Hotel Katla seems like an odd amalgamation of different buildings, which I imagine have different room types with varying degrees of comfort and amenities. We stayed in the newest building and had a huge room that was comfortable and spotless. The hot tub area seemed very cute and included a steam room or sauna. We didn't use those facilities as it was cold and rainy the night we were there, but if the weather was nice or the Northern Lights were shining, it would be a great place to sit and soak. The dinner buffet is good, not great. The breakfast buffet was better. If we were in the area again, I think we'd probably stay at Hotel Katla a second time...
Great location just 4 min from Vik. Great staff service, great breakfast. Only thing is the property has a lot (over 1,000) of mosquitoes in the parking area.
Simple, clean room. Easy to find. Breakfast buffet done well, good variety. I’d stay there again.
Hotel Katla was above our expectations. The reception and restaurant were darling, and the location had beautiful views and surroundings.
Very clean hotel. 4 mins from vik. Awesome hospitality and staff
Nice unique hotel. Good breakfast. That’s all xxxxxxxx. Cxcxxxxx. Cxxxxx. Xxxxxxxxx
Katla looks a bit institutional. It's location a few Km outside of Vik is not ideal. I liked the rustic feel and high ceilings in the guest rooms but the room was a bit run down and the beds were very uncomfortable. One particular negative is that we booked a room for 3 people about 5 months ago and our room had 2 twin beds and a roll away cot despite the reservation being for 3 beds. The breakfast buffet was the high point with waffle makers, fresh bread, herring and a lot of variety.
They did some upgrades since I had booked the hotel. It was a pleasant surprise. We had a very nice stay. And the hot tub really hit the spot after a long day of hiking.
Small room but provided what we needed. Full breakfast buffet was included.
Room is big and clean. staff is helpful, willing to help for solving your request. Breakfast is good, you have a choice.
