Stayed in this so called hotel for two nights at the beginning of June. On arrival met by a very sweet receptionist. First room we got was awful smelly and dirty. Second room offered key would not open room. Third room was OK so we decided to stay as we would only be using the room to sleep. The room furniture was full of dust must not have been wiped clean in years. The balcony was full of bird droppings and I mean full of. The hotel obviously had a problem with nesting birds. They removed the nests and just left the nest debris and the piles of droppings on the floor of the balcony. Balcony unusable and smelly. The breakfast area was beside reception in an atrium that could only be described as dirty. All self service and once you left if you did not wipe down table yourself no one else did including staff. Apart from the very pleasant receptionist this hotel should be avoided.
This was my first stop of my trip - they were having tile installed and had to walk all the way around the hotel to get to room. Vesta ,the front desk person, was wonderful and helped me find the room. The room had 2 queen beds but one of them was broken and the window opened up to a wood fence. The shower was decent and clean. I thought it was really weird that they didn't have dedicated parking. It is a few blocks from the beach - though they told me I could walk it in 7 to 10 minutes, bad back and knees so wouldn't try that. There is also a fairgrounds right near the ocean, they have car races there, the sound was interesting, it was kind of fun trying to figure out where it was coming from at the hotel. They didn't run too late.
Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Spa present but not available Room card key function not working well however staff was helpful to remedy Staff was friendly Breakfast options were fairly limited
I should never write a review when I'm cranky. A room was booked there because my host knew we liked "Off the Wall" places. But The Clocktower Inn never came up expectations. I had an inkling that there was a problem when we couldn't find parking. I really like the look of the place, and the interior view was OK. I asked to be shown a room and it went down hill from there. This place made me feel old. It's not that it was dirty, just unkempt. The room was spacious for the price (Yes, it's cheap for being just off the main street) but It just didn't feel right. The atrium dining area looked good but I just didn't feel that the food would be that good. Sorry, can't recommend it.
location is great but the hotel needs updating. Our room smelled moldy so we had to keep the patio doors open to air out the smell. free breakfast was good. If you want to bar hop or go to the local clubs its the perfect spot.
Love the location next to the mission and Main Street, which has dozens of nice restaurants and bars. The upstairs room was beautiful and all amenities were pretty nice. But last time we were here (May 2016) they had a great breakfast, now they just have crappy pastries and stuff probably from Smart & Final.
The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to restaurants and shops. I stayed here with a group of business colleagues for a conference. My roomie and I were shown to a ground floor room which was TINY and smelled so badly of MOLD. We tried to open the windows, which were welded shut. We were moved to a second story room, which wasn't as small or moldy smelling. These windows we could open, so we got some fresh air in. The bathroom was totally operational, but sorely needed some work. The beds, we both agreed, were very comfortable. The next morning, we all went down for the continental breakfast, which consisted of luke-warm coffee, breads and rolls, orange juice and some cut up melon. Nowhere was there a bit of protein or a napkin. We were hungry when we went to our meetings. We did enjoy the fact that we could walk to restaurants and shops, but all agreed that we would not return.
This hotel has seen better days. On arrival, front door was grimy, key-card device was not working, so all coming & going required front-desk person to be escort. Ice machine was broken, so staff had to go to adjacent restaurant for ice ( they were not happy with the intrusion)-not a part of the hotel, just a shared building. Room was OK, but no refrigerator & i had meds needing a chill-chest(more ice trips). Location was perfect for my goals & staff was very friendly & helpful. The bar in the restaurant next door had GREAT staff!
We were passing through driving on the 101 Hwy and it was getting late. Most of the hotels were book. The reception personnel was friendly. The parking is lacking for guests because there were people that also used the parking that were going to the steakhouse restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Our room was on the second floor passed a courtyard which was quaint. It's also where you sit during the included breakfast. The room was ok for what you pay for but the tub faucet was leaking and the light button had a crack. It needs a little attention from the housekeeping staff.
Quaint and charming. Front desk folks were great! Room was perfect size and the fireplace was a plus! It is right on the edge of Main Street so there are a variety of shops; thrift, touristy, clothing and furniture to browse thru in addition to the eating establishments I will definitely return.
