Concierge welcome nice. Once in reception hotel owner made no attempt to welcome us preferring to shout at his disobedient dog that had run off earlier in the day. Don’t stay in Fontenoy room - it’s nothing like the grand rooms featured on the hotel website. It’s small and near the kitchens and it stank of food all night. Very tired furniture and fittings throughout the bedroom and dated pink bathroom. Faux wood effect linoleum floor in the bedroom. This was a dog friendly room - nothing friendly about it. Dogs not welcome in the restaurant. Not cheap for the experience either, €330 for room only plus €20 for a dog. On the plus side we thoroughly enjoyed our gastronomic dinner in the hotel restaurant which made the overall experience more palatable. When we complained about the smells on checkout, we were advised that “the bedroom was near the kitchens”.

I have a problem with stairs. I need a handrail. The junior suite was on the secod floor and an elevator was missing. The stairs had no handrail and so i had to move to a room outside the castle. Let them mention it on the website, so you can prevent disappointments. The room was ok but no airconditioning and less cosey. Dinner was also not so exclusiv as expected and breakfast was ok.

This is simply the best. We had been here once 20 years ago, and wished we had stayed longer. We finally returned for our 30th anniversary, and had the same reaction: We didn’t want to leave. It is the most casually elegant place we have ever been. From the greeting as we arrived, to the beautiful suite, to every detail, we felt so taken care of. We had two breakfasts and two fantastic dinners there, all were exquisite. I have seen reviews that complained about the price of breakfast, so don’t let that surprise you. Yes it’s high, but look where you are! We really enjoyed walking the grounds, seeing the centuries old Château buildings, the ancient castle ruins, and the active agricultural efforts that support the Michelin starred restaurant. We chose to look at all the prices as well worth the experience. We plan on returning as soon as we can. But this time we will stay longer.

Original Chateau, very friendly staff, i think it's a family running hotel? Very good restaurant * Michelin. The location is summertime, you must take a seat in the garden en enjoy de vieuw at the Chateau while drinking a good glass of bougondie wine

The Chateau is beautiful. The moment we pulled up to the gate, we were treated like royalty. The staff absolutely made this outstanding experience! The decor in our room was a tad tired, but it was lovely. The grounds make for an exceptional summer stroll. The pool is far prettier in person than in the photos on their website. An absolute win!

A friend and I stayed after a week visiting Beaune, Dijon, and everything in between. We opted for the least expensive room (traditional is what I believe they called it) - it was very small but with a very modern bathroom, as other reviewers have noted. The housekeeping staff let us take a look at a few other rooms, and they were amazing! Next time, I would splurge a bit. The grounds are very tranquil (except the one time we got too close to the geese, and they were NOT having it!), and the service is friendly and professional. We stayed two nights (but arrived late the first night so didn’t get to take advantage of anything but the room); other than a visit to Vézelay, we stayed on the grounds, reading on the lawn with a glass of rosé, enjoying the wonderful restaurant, and just relaxing. We visited the pool but didn’t get in. One caveat to note: I booked the room 2-3 weeks before the trip - I had hoped to take their cooking class, but it was already full. If you want to do this, I’d suggest booking early and/or checking that the class is available before booking.

a very luxurious surrounding without being posh this château offers a quiet and beautiful atmosphere. The room was spacious and cosy, breakfast is served and not buffet style, offering all you could wish for. Definitely a place to go back to.

Look no further than Chateau du Lugny for the perfect holiday. Whether you are looking for tranquility, gourmet experiences or an active vacation, you can find all here. The beautiful grounds offer lounging quietly with a book beneath the 400 year Sycamore tree, or taking a dip in the pool under the vaulted stone ceiling. Demi-pension rate includes continental breakfast and gourmet tasting menu dinner overlooking the grounds at the 1 Star Michelin restaurant. Our duck was prepared feu de bois on the outdoor patio - the inside bar is quite cozy. Wonderful flavors and combinations - foie gras creme brûlée. We selected this hotel as our base because the hotel has their own electric bikes - concierge Elizabeth planned a wonderful itinerary for us to Vézelay as well as other sights. At the end of a day bathed in sunshine, relax before dinner in a room overlooking beautiful grounds complete with a vegetable garden, geese, and chickens (fresh eggs). A beautiful part of France. The entire staff was really friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. Mother and daughter trip.

We spent 2 nights here. The meals are amazing, the setting is stunning and very tranquil. The staff were really helpful. We had a beautiful room in the chateau which was decorated in a very traditional way with a modern bathroom. The property sits in beautiful rural countryside Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Spent two nights in exquisite comfort, including a memorable meal in the Michelin starred restaurant. Rooms are spacious and clasically French but with modern bathrooms. Service is impeccable. A wine tasting in the vaulted cellar was another nice touch
