We booked a queen room for the Easter long weekend as we were there to see my very ill grandmother in White Rock. We checked in Friday and were moved to a king suite which is nice but she didn't say a word about it. I assume due to our dog?? It was on the main floor on the same side as the pub attached to the hotel. We didn't get to sleep Friday, Saturday and Sunday night until the pub closed. We had to listen to yelling and sirens and music until the pub closed every night as we were only a few doors down from it and our room faced the parking lot. When I mentioned it Sat morning to the front desk attendant he said "really? I've never heard that before, I don't think its loud" I said well if YOU don't think its loud we must have been mistaken and crazy. Terrible customer service and I walked away. Not to mention that we had booked the room that was supposed to come with breakfast, a free grand slam according to the Website and the cards I had to ask for 3 times when I checked in. BED & BREAKFAST PACKAGE Enjoy one free Breakfast at Denny's per night & Save up to 15% off the Standard Rate Receive one (1) breakfast gift card per adult (18 years and older) per night to be used at Denny's Restaurant. Breakfast gift card can be used for one Grand Slam or as a $10 Denny's gift card. Additional charges may apply for additional guests. Complimentary breakfast gift cards valid at participating Denny's locations. Subject to availability, taxes, and applicable fees. Cannot be combined with other offers. Some restrictions may apply. According to Denny's it was only $10 gift cards. Funny enough though we paid $11-$14 additional costs each day. We ordered the exact same breakfast (grand slam as it was supposed to be free) and yet paid a different amount each day but they wouldn't give us a detailed receipt??? they gave me my debit receipt. As my grandmother passed away the friday night we decided to extend our stay one more night to stay with my family and when i asked the front desk guy Sat morning he didn't say more then "done" to me when I came to the counter and asked. I then decided to mention the loud pub and got a rude reply. he also didn't give me the gift cards for breakfast so i had to stop for them later that day. Sat night when I came in to get the gift cards he forget to give me there was a couple in the lobby with a young crying son, the mother was on the phone and kept saying I don't know if we are at the right location, I think there is only 1 in the area and yes I think we are on 201 street. I asked the lady behind the counter who was just standing there and didn't reach out to help the lady with the crying child if this was on 201 or 202 and she said 202 so I told the lady on the phone that there was another Sandman across the road. she was very grateful. That would have taken 30 seconds to help that lady. I found both the Denny's and the hotel staff needed a little lesson in friendliness and customer service.
I stayed on a Saturday night and did not have a good night's sleep - aside from the 24 hour Denny's the hotel is next to a popular pub and a liquor store so all night long there were people yelling etc in the parking area outside my room. In addition I had a room near the lobby with all the associated noise of people coming and going. Room itself is fine, recently renovated and just like a million others. So if you do decide to stay ask for a room on the north (quiet) side and not on the first floor.
The Sandman Hotel in Langley is in the process of updating its interior but unfortunately for the hotel, the quality of workmanship isn't that great. Newer appliances in the kitchenettes are nice, with a full stove and a fridge with a good sized freezer. Internet speed is poor and can be unreliable from my experience with it. The rooms are very small. Very convenient location though.
We stayed here one night and found the location to be excellent. Several places to eat within easy walking distance and just a few minutes walk to the movie theatres. Our room seemed like it was newly renovated. It was vety nice and had a great bathroom too. We had a very comfortable king size bed with a thick and cosy comforter. The young lady at the checkin counter was very pleasant and accomodating. Would stay here again. Price was very reasonable as well.
I enjoy the location of this hotel and stayed throughout the summer for work. Depending on which floor you stay in (renovations are underway), the room is clean and the bed is comfortable. You may or may not get a mini fridge in the room, but there's plenty of options within walking distance. WiFi is mediocre, but consistent that way at least. The real reason for a lower rating is for the front desk staff, with the exception of one outstanding staff member named Cassandra (I would give her 5 stars!). While they come across as 'friendly', they are neither professional or accommodating. I stay because that's where my company books me in so I didn't have much of a choice. My company has heard the grumblings of our team and is considering alternatives. The absolute worst part of every trip is checking in, and I've stayed there 40+ nights since May. Customer service, in my opinion is vital and it's a bonus if you have even the slightest conflict resolution skill. Unfortunately, most staff have neither. If you don't mind the interaction with staff at check in, then this is a decent place to stay.
My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night so just one night. The room was very nice and updated including the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were amazing. The front desk staff were very nice and welcoming. We needed to check in 2 hours early and they were able to accommodate us which was great. I'd recommend staying here. It is also a convenient location since it is right by the highway but I didn't notice any sound from the cars. They do have parking and a Denny's is attached.
My sister and I recently stayed here. The room was nicely appointed and sunny and bright. But at night, the drapery does not meet in the middle and overlap letting in all the street light. We were on the second floor. At least provide clothespins to keep the drapes shut!
We have stayed at this location before and rooms were clean and comfortable. This time the room was dated and awful. The bathroom is just plain disgusting! In between tiles on bathroom floor are black with dirt. Corners are filthy. The bathtub is probably the grossest I have ever seen. We will never stay here again!
We were in Langley for the AAC National Agility competition, so there were lots of dogs everywhere. No problems, friendly staff, quick service to any requests, with easy access to the Thunderbird Equestrian Centre, only a few minutes down the road. A 24hr Dennys is attached to one end of the building, so very early breakfasts are not a problem. The other end of the building has a liquor outlet, for those who needed a quiet drink after a long, hot day of competition. There are many restaurant choices within walking distance, you can always find something to eat. Lots of grass around, so dogs and handlers didn't have far to go to pee (the dogs that is). Solid construction, so even close to elevators and on the ground floor, noise was not an issue. I would stay here next time.
Really like the hotel and location. Since we were visiting family we had plenty of things to do near buy including the movie theater and quick access to the Trans Canada highway. Staff were super friendly and I found the room clean and comfortable. Lots of places to dine near by. The hotel had no problem granting us a late checkout which we really appreciated. We will stay here again when visitng family.
