Wonderful house near the beach

Great house. Hot water faucet was backwards in upstairs bathroom. Ice maker on refrigerator needs to be repaired.

4 day stay in July-August 2024

We really enjoyed our stay. The family room was so comfortable for a large group. Those that wanted to watch the Olympics did so. We had several that enjoyed quieter areas for reading. The walk to the beach was nice. Evenings in the hot tub and s’mores at the fire pit. Did not have to travel too far for shopping or ice cream. The kids loved the basement full of toys and games. Nice storage in kitchen. Dinings areas in several places worked well for our large group. Also enjoyed short trip to Warren Dunes State park less than15 minutes away.

Another wonderful family experience

Family stay at Union Pier

Nice property, roomy, great kitchen, pool players could play pool, tv watchers could watch Olympic trials, sports, etc. We enjoyed the screened porch a lot even when it rained. Hot tubbers had good soaks. S’mores all around one evening, great restaurants and shopping in New Buffalo (10 min), plenty of easy walks to beach. Short walk to bakery and corner grocery for yummies and breakfast sandwiches. I guess that’s enough? We had a great time!

Great family reunion stay

We have a lovely stay over a weekend in June for a family reunion. The house is about a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the public beach. Union Pier is a very quiet area but not far from New Buffalo with restaurants and a big grocery store if needed. The house had everything we needed. We loved the kitchen and the back porch and the outside dining area. Everything was in great shape. Check in was super easy. Bernadette responded promptly to any questions I asked her. We really loved the stay.

Best Experience on VRBO

Bar Down was hands down the best place I’ve had the privilege of staying via VRBO. The house was represented well via pictures and description. The owner was readily accessible if needed and was very helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend staying at Bar Down if you are visiting SW Michigan. Only ask is you let me k ow when you plan on booking so I don’t miss out on this property next time I’m in town. 😀

Book Club Weekend

Our book club was looking for a special place to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We wee 8 senior women. The facilities were excellent. Wonderful location. Quick walk to the lake. Lovely Beach Vacation Home

Communication was excellent from the beginning. The home was outfitted with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing trip to a small beach town. It was extremely easy to pop down the road for food or a walk, and the local public beach access was beautifully kept and a short walk the other way. Our only complaint was cleanliness: the home did not meet our expectations for cleanliness of floors and there were a significant number of ants and spiders who found us to be a nuisance to their typical activities. This is somewhat to be expected, seasonally and in a home that isn't occupied all the time, but it did make the stay a little less enjoyable for us. Overall, it was a good place to spend a few days away from real life.

Greeted by Cardinals

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Such a beautiful home we have already booked for next year. Thank you for the delicious pie and checking in with us during our stay. We were greeted by a male and female Cardinal when we arrived in the sunroom. My niece said it was my parents who used to come to Union Pier with us 😇😇. The outdoor space was wonderful, which is where we spent most of our time. Lots of laughter, good food, and memories made❤️. Until next year……

A great gathering place!

The house was spacious and beautiful. The giant basement with pool table and tv center was A+ The outdoor yard space was perfect for after dinner gathering! A short stroll to a wonderful beach. Located within walking distance to a fabulous bakery and neighborhood grocery/beverage store. Just a few minutes from New Buffalo, Warren Dunes and many other area attractions. Guest/owner communications were excellent.

Great Place and Accomodating!

For years, the boys lived a fast paced lifestyle. A new city every weekend, a different club every night. Fast forward to 2023 and we were looking for a change of pace. Enter this beautiful Union Pier property. The house and property were exquisitely maintained and ready for us upon arrival. Our resident bougie boy (let’s call him Shawn) even remarked upon the quality of the stay. All in all, this was a five star experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a getaway. If you don’t wanna work and just bang on the drum all day, this is the place!

Great getaway for family vacation

Great property. Plenty of room for family of 10 with kids. Kitchen stocked with more tools than my house! Great screened porch. Basement filled with pool table, air hockey, foos ball, and other fun stuff! Short walk to wonderful beach. Also short walk to bakery and market. Quiet peaceful neighborhood. Just a great place.

Family Reunion in Union Pier

We loved our time at Sun's Up - Bar Down! The house was lovely, and well-suited for multiple families and different age ranges. It was a kids' (and parents) dream in terms of games and activities - Bernadette literally thought of everything. We also appreciated the little extras - amazing sheets and towels, hand soap in every bathroom, and a pie to welcome us! The outdoor spaces and screened in porch were my favorites - with ample room for play and relaxation. The beach was a short walk too, which was great. We can't wait to come back!

Great family vacation

We had a great stay! The house was well equipped for our family vacation. Very short walk to the beach and to the little town. Easy drive to New Buffalo, as well. We had a couple rainy days but the house had plenty to do for the kids to stay entertained. We also enjoyed the fire pit at night.
