We spent three nights at the Royal Pita on our honeymoon. The villas are large with incredible views of the property and the private pool is a great size. The property is unlike anything I've seen before. You really do feel like you're in a jungle and the detail and design all over is beautiful. However, the food fell far far short of expectations with the lunches and dinner almost inedible and extremely over priced (the free breakfast each morning was actually pretty good). You're much better taking the shuttle into Ubud and eating anywhere else. I've seen a few people comment on bugs etc and there are certainly lots of ants/lizards etc around your room but that comes with a jungle setting. Don't leave your doors wide open and you shouldn't have any issues inside the villas themselves (we did have a large lizard get in the room through a vent and the staff were happy to come and deal with it for us). We also spent some time at the spa which I was very impressed with. Overall it's a beautiful property but the staff and food could use some serious improvements.
Royal Pita Maha is a lovely-looking resort in Ubud. You'll come from the airport and wonder, where is this paradise? Be patient. It'll come. My wife and I were here for my honeymoon and the beginning of the trip did not go as planned due to the airline notifying us morning of that the connecting flight in Doha would be pushed back due to a plane arriving late to NYC. I emailed Royal Pita Maha right away to notify them that we would not be able to arrive until the following morning, but they had refused to refund nearly USD $400 in the nightly cost! A 26-hour journey turned into a 35+ hour journey from America, and they could not take immediate notice of our inconvenience and return the one-night credit to us (1 month later!). But let's continue this review, knowing that the resort is unreasonable (some might say greedy) and not as hospitable as their counterparts elsewhere (from what we experienced in Nusa Dua). To-date, the hotel management is 100% uncooperative with credit card issuers and guests alike, so hope you don't fall into similar circumstances. To me, this is terrible hospitality for a country that relies on tourism so heavily (shame on you!). Back to it ... all of the folks on the staff responsible for luggage, cleaning up the room and premises, and preparing breakfast were great! Only exception was noticing the dozen empty wine bottles on the side of the path to our villa each day. We tried to spa and were disappointed due to faulty doors to the sauna, a mediocre massage with masseuses who did not provide disposable clothing for our swimwear, and freezing pools (and "jacuzzi") that had no heat. We loved the brunch buffet, the lunch was just okay, and dinner left much to be desired. People staying elsewhere aren't going to RPM to eat or enjoy the spa, at least if they have done their research. The resort was pretty empty in early September but it's vast and beautiful. Views from our villa pool of the Uyung River and jungle landscape were great. Again, if only the pool was heated in the slightest bit, we would've been able to enjoy it more. You'll hear roosters each morning, which is nice if you're from the city, but then hearing the birds on the bamboo/straw roofs above where you sleep peck their way through was not something we needed to encounter. Lastly, they provide a shuttle service but it's very limiting with their schedule and capacity. You'll want to be in touch with a driver, because it's really challenging to get around Ubud without a motorbike. Would've been nice if this place didn't nickel-and-dime guests as much. But hey, you live and you learn... and then try out other neighborhoods like Nusa Dua and discover that on a scale of 5 (being great), Royal Pita Maha gets a 2 for gorgeous facilities, a great complimentary breakfast buffet, and an incredibly lackluster hospitality. I don't always write reviews, but when I do, it's to express truth to fellow travelers in order to help them mitigate a poor experience. Looking forward to management's comments of denial!
Very nice and clean resort with stunning views. Great service with a smile 24/7. Delicious food with eye to detail. If you would like to stay in Ubud you certainly should consider to stay at The Royal Pita Maha. Thank you very much Mr. Made and team. Next time visiting Bali we will certainly come back. Kind regards, Angelique & John
My room is Royal Pool Villa the viewing is so nice. the breakfast have not much choices but the taste is delicious. All the staff services is so friendly. The hotel location to UBUD town is not far by car about 15min, the hotel also provide shutter bus.
Thank you RPM Team for a wonderful time there. The Yoga, the venue, the Jungle, the private Pool. everything was just so beautiful, well maintained, and Service was nice and the Food excellent. I will recommend this to friends and family !!!
We spent 4 nights @ The Royal Pita Maha and the experience was very good. The Deluxe Pool Vila we stayed in was very big and the private pool offered complete intimacy in the middle of the nature. The resort is quite large, with many stairs to climb, but worth walking around. The whole staff was always nice and helpful. Highly recommend this place for the all services it offers and the great view over the jungle you have from each room.
We went to the Royal Pita Maha on a day pass for 350,000rp each person. This provides full access to all the dining and pool areas. It was a difficult choice where to dine but it was so beautiful by the river and lagoon pool we had a very relaxing swim and lunch by the river watching all the people rafting. My pasta lunch was delicious but my husband didn’t like his tomato juice, The staff were pleasant but not overly friendly. It may seem pricey to some but well worth it. There’s a cheaper package with just a juice and pool towel included. For a day trip to Ubud, I highly recommend doing the Champuhan Ridge Walk and Ubud art market in the morning and spend the afternoon at Royal Pita Maha.
While the stay was nice, it could have been better. We stayed at another hotel in Nusa Dua prior to moving to this area and hotel and it was no comparison. The ground are nice and villa was spacious, but the service was not very friendly, the food was not exceptional especially for the prices and when we called on Room Services it took a Good long time. The spa was only open for a one hour treatment, rather than the options shown and offered in the manuals. Along with this, on the last day of our stay the outlet shorted and shocked one of us, leaving us with a very bad experience in the end. The view was great, but villa was not very private or quiet. Appreciated the stay but will probably not reccomend to anyone.
No word can describe this magical hotel. I I booked a Villa for honeymoon. To my surprise the receptionist upgraded the villa to the royal villa category which has all what you can dream. The scenery makes you feel that you are in another planet. So clean so tidy. The food is amazing. Pick your ready made options to surprise your love with romantic dinner. Walk around in the gardens all the way down and take photos as much as possible because you will never find a matching place. Buy some handcrafted souvenirs because it is cheaper than any other area. Enjoy the delicious food. Enjoy each piece of it to the max. I have a treasure of a beautiful memories and I wish these lines may mirror this magical place and services.
An amazing hotel with charming and helpful staff. We had a superb villa with a gorgeous pool with the most incredible view, absolutely breathtaking. The villa was huge with excellent amenities, beautifully presented and well maintained. The whole hotel and everything about our stay was outstanding. Thank you for a wonderful few days.
