Julia is conveniently located in downtown close to the market square and railroad station. Although it is pretty basic, you will have all you need. This hotel is not suitable for a romantic getaway due to really unpretentious ambience, but perfect for a business trip. Absolutely wonderful breakfast is a huge plus! I added one point especially for that. They serve food suitable for vegans, kids, lactose intolerant - any person won’t leave hungry. An important hint: ask for high floors. Some rooms overlook a rooftop parking lot of the neighbor building which makes the vista really creepy!
Hotel is located in very central position of the town, they serve a very nice breakfast The rooms are quite standard but a little bit out-dated Some traffic-noise if you have a room on the front side. The staff was very friendly and helpfull!
The lobby is under renovation and only one of the elevators was working. Had to wait very long to get to the room on the 6th floor. The room was ok, but nothing special. The neighbourhood was unpleasant with alcoholics hanging out by the supermarket downstairs.
This hotel is well located for exploring the city of Turku. The lobby was under renovation when we arrived & the lift difficult to find meaning we struggled with our luggage & the baby in the pushchair. Check in was swift & we were allocated a huge family room overlooking the front street. Breakfast was plentiful & self serve - would have liked a greeter to have been there though. There's nothing I would change about the rooms but it would have been nice to have bigger and softer towels in the bathroom & help with our luggage.
Located in the heart of Turku, this is a very price worthy hotel. Rooms are OK with good beds, individual AC and a spotless bathroom. Very good breakfast. Basic, good stuff = value for money. We stay here always when in Turku!
On a chilly morning, we arrived in Finland and Helsinki airport, where we then caught a flight to Turku, where our daughter is studying under the Erasmus system. We got to our hotel, the Scandic Julia at 1:00 am, and up to our room, 516 and a view of the snow covered street. The room was a little full as our son was to use the fold out sofa bed, but after a comfy night, we used a very welcome shower and put our valuables in the free to use safe. The breakfasts were of the international buffet style, but it was good food and very easy to access, never seemed to be a rush. The staff were courteous and got on quietly with their tasks, the receptionist was very helpful giving us directions and a free map. The hotel was undergoing a bit of a makeover in the lobby area, and we were warned they'd be drilling in the morning but it was still a bit of a shock to hear the work so early and five floors up, but it did not spoil our stay. It is a clean, warm centrally situated hotel perfect for the sightseer or the business person, and we found it easy to navigate from and to. It cost us, @€100, for 5 nights for 3 people in February, in a good room, which had tv, wifi, bath/shower facility, free safe, and although it had a mini bar it had no tea coffee making facility. It felt safe too, as you had to have a key to go up to the floors in the lifts. We would use it again when or if we can afford to visit our daughter again, before she finishes her course.
Hotel is situated in the center of Turku. There is Lidl food store and R-kiosk downstairs of the hotel, so it is very easy to buy drinks and snacks to your room. There is also inside parkingplaces if you come with the car. You pay daily fee for parking. For children you will find playing place near the hotels restaurant. Service is always excellent. I can recommend the superior plus room with sauna. There is 2 tv, one doublebed and sofabed so 4 people will sleep there. This hotel is our first choice always when we visit in Turku.
The staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. Check in was easy, although its always a faff filling in all the forms they ask for with passport details etc. We had rooms on the third floor which is actually quite high up as there are two car park levels between reception and the room levels. This was nice because we were away from the street but irritating at busy times because they only have two tiny lifts and these got full quickly and we ended up taking the stairs a lot. The room was lovely and big though, with plenty of floor space, a desk area and a sofa. There wasn't much in the way of space to put clothes though. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were lovely. The room temperature was just right and there wasn't too much noise from the corridors at night. The bathroom was a little tiny but with a heated floor, and a walk in shower area. The shower was nice and powerful and the temperature easy to adjust. We had breakfast every morning and the choice was huge. A really lovely meal. We also ate there in the evening once, just snacks. This food was nice but quite expensive, as were the drinks. The pub just round the corner had more atmosphere and slightly cheaper drinks. All in all, though, it was a good stay and the location right in the middle of Turku was excellent.
Close to Turku market square, adjacent to all central town main attractions such as Turku Cathedral, Aurajoki river and shopping district. About 1,5 km from the train station. During our visit the hotel was undergoing a main hall renovation. The reception was still working just fine albeit the receptionist had very loud voice. Our room was very nice and silent. Double bed was very comfortable. Nice view to the Cathedral and to the southern neighborhood. Some black hair on the floors. A/C did not deliver much warm air although we set it to the maximum. The bathroom was warm but use of the bidet shower was strange as the faucet was not reachable from the toilet seat. Breakfast is quite plentiful and surely fresh. One needs to arrive to the breakfast early enough as some items can be consumed to the last bite pretty fast.
Scandic Julia is a perfect choice for peaceful accommodation in the heart of Turku, location is very excellent, walkaway to main topics in the city and quite near the riverbank which is one of the main attractions in Turku
