Original Sokos Hotel Hamburger Börs4.0 out of 5.0

It is not often that one can stay in a hotel in hometown, so naturally I was excited to spend one night in famous Hamburger Börs with my husband. Reception was busy but friendly when we arrived, our superior room very well cleaned but obviously old. The room was somehow very dark, lighter furniture would make a big difference. A nice view to the market square, naturally a lot better in the summer time. Even if the hotel is right in the middle of city our room was very quiet. Breakfast was very good, and not too crowded. The only negative thing is about sauna and the pool. Sauna is small and dated, and the room and pool very, very cold. Not a pleasure at all. In all, I still want to give four stars but in my experience this hotel is far from five. A facelift and renovation, especially in sauna, is needed.
Room is ok with the basics, nothing special. Even though the room was facing the square, no noise reached our room (3rd floor). But it is December we're talking about, so... The breakfast was fine with friendly staff to match (recommend the porridge, if one is into that kind of approach).
Stayed one night and everything went well. Building is old but mostly renovated. Some places you are able to see history. Room was clean and spacious and quiet from back side of the building. Several restaurants in same building. One minus was TV where I couldn't find channels but web worked well.
Very buzy hotel, rooms and breakfast area. See many using by rooms ;( And noise about night when club closing clock 04am at morning. Airconditioner macine pour. Exellent situation at city. Lobby bar ok.
Basic hotel with good location. Been here often and will still use it in future. Sauna is one of the best I have ever been. In business days it is better to go to breakfast after 9. It is much relax then.
I went here for work for 1 week. The staff is really unfriendly for some people as I look a bid more for lander than the normal Finnish people. Example, I was waiting at the bar for a drink, they served the other people faster than me, also as she saw I was waiting, she first serves other new incoming people. The bar closes at 10.30 pm, I asked for a beer at 10.25 pm and no was the answer and directly a big guy came to ask if there were trouble...... Same with the breakfast, very basic and all putted like a buffet but not looking appetite. They eggs were floating in grease, fruit salade with only pineapple and some oranges, tables not clean, coffee in paper cups. The rooms are ok but not worth the money. For 166€ a day you expect a nice modern room. Never again this hotel, I even didn't tried the hotel restaurant out of principle. Really not worth his price.
For Finland, this hotel room was quite spacious. we faced the car park and while the view was rubbish, it was very quiet. Comfortable beds, good shower pressure but again, would have preferred a shower only room, rather than one over the bathtub. The hotel is very well situated...for the universities, shopping, riverside restaurants. Yes, the rooms are dated, as others have noted but the room was clean and felt cozy. We didn't have breakfast but the menu for the pub looked good and we would have eaten there had we had the opportunity. Would recommend. Nothing fancy but no surprises.
The Hotel is very good located at the square in Turku. Stayed there for a couple of times and the room toward the square can bee quite noisy. An annoying detail is that the two last times there has been no reading lights at the bed and not possible to operate the lights from the bed. When i asked about it at the reception they just said that they are waiting for new. So they must have waited for more than a month... Plus for the Sauna on the top floor.
I stayed one night during week for business. I had heard the Hotel should have a nostalgic feel to it and I was looking forward to experience it. The staff was friendly and room clean, however there was no old glamour in the room, just old and worn out. The breakfast room has the magical old style nicely preserved. As it was during the week it was fairly quiet so no chaos or queuing, basic continental breakkie, no complaints there. My whole stay was ruined because of noise. My room was in the 2nd floor meaning close to the Nightclub. I was literally up several hours during the night. And you can image how fresh I felt the next morning in my business meeting! The staff brought earplugs in the middle of the night but it did not help, and it continued till 4am. I would never ever stay here again unless I get a room as high up as possible. The french restaurant is worth to try, tasty and value for money.
Old hotel middle of Turku. It has been there always, but now it needs renovation. Room and bathroom are clean, but needs facelift. Continental breakfast, lots of choices. Several possibilities for lunch or dinner, very busy bar in the evening.
