As frequent visitors to Mount Wolseley, we're used to the place and we always enjoy our stay. We come mainly for golf but we also enjoy the pool, dining and a few drinks. We were satisfied with our room and dinner at Fredrick's was enjoyable too. On this visit, a noticeable negative was the drinks prices. A pint of lager and a G&T almost €15 in the lounge. A bottle of Kapuka, Sauvignon Blanc €40! This wine is available in wine shops at €12.50. I know resorts will mark up the drinks prices but there is a limit to what the customer will tolerate. This customer is less inclined to be the donor of any more golden eggs.
Just back from a couple of nights away at Mount Wolseley. We stayed with our 2 year old son and I couldn't fault anything! The room was clean and spacious. We had a travel cot set up and still loads of space in the room. (Room 339). The food was AMAZING! Everything that we tried was great and everything that we saw being brought out for other guests look great as well. My husband loved the cantalope melon salad. Breakfast had so much choice, the pancakes were the best! The staff were all brilliant. So friendly and efficient. A high chair was always brought over immediately for our son and they were all so good at entertaining and interacting with him. The facilities were great too. We used the pool loads as well as the indoor playroom and the outdoor playground. Next time I'll definitely use the spa. I'm 9 months pregnant so it was great that everything was easily accessible. The lifts were always quick and although the hotel is really big nothing was too far a walk away. I read another review saying the playground was a 10 minute walk away... It's just across the car park, a 2 minute walk away! Everything from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was perfect. Really looking forward to returning!
Just back from a 2 night stay in your hotel have to say it we had a fantastic time as usual!! We have become regulars in staying with you with just having a couple of days away or doing the Rathwood experience package. I have to acknowledge your reception staff especially Liz and Tony who are so pleasant and helpful an absolute credit to your hotel they are one word to describe our whole experience is fabulous. ☺
This is a beautiful hotel the staff are very nice and helpful I cannot say enough about this break the swimming pool the Jacuzzi and the steam room were spotless clean we had a four course meal in the dining room which was to die for better than any 5 star hotel the breakfast was buffet and the chef was making pancakes to order also fried and poached eggs everything was scrumptious I do not play golf so I cannot comment on the golf I WOULD REALLY RECOMMEND THIS OFFER WHILE IT IS ON THE DEAKS GRAB IT I HSVR BOUGHT TWO MORE DEALS AND HOPE TO RETURN IN AUGUST there is music in the bar 5night's a week from 10 to 12 😃 enjoy
Best breakfast in a hotel in a while . Room was very comfortable and clean. Pool area was ok and spa was nice but expensive .. Where the hotel really lets its self down is the bar/lounge area. Service is slow staff are for the most part pleasant. Food not great neither are the choices. They seem to get really busy then you have to wait for ages for food then it arrives cold with things missing. So they go to get them and it's 15 minutes before they return or forget. Poor.
We spent three nights here and had a wonderful stay. Our room was lovely overlooking the golf course. Food was very good especially the rib roast on the bone. Very clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Good leisure and spa facilities too. Would definitely return to Mount Wolseley.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the entrance to reception is amazing. After that, it got pretty average. We had booked dinner in the restaurant, food was good, not amazing. Our dinner was charged twice which caused an issue in the dining room, and once resolved there, caused an issue on check out the next day as we were again charged twice. Check in is 4pm (never seen it so late) and even though we had 270€ worth of Spa treatments booked, coudnt be checked in earlier, so we had to use the thermal suites on Sat and do our treatments on sunday morning, not ideal. The Spa area is nice, but not Wow. The "relaxation room" is a waiting room for your next treatment, staff bang the door on the way in and out, and there is no peace there. Overall a good experience, massage was nice - althought not relaxing as could hear everyone walk outside as treatment room is beside reception, dry flotation was extremely warm, uncomfortably so and balenotheraphy was like a jacuzzi bath at home (and needs some cleaning around the handles). Rooms were clean, old style decor. Wifi while free, was very slow. Overall we did have a good stay, but was the 28 hours worth €550 +? No, definitely not. Wont be returning.
Stayed here for 3 nights with hubby. Very impressive driveway to the large hotel. Parking was ample and first impressions of the foyer was stunning. Checkin was fast although very little information was given by the receptionist. Take your bags find the lift and off you go. Corridors are quite dark but clean. Finally found our room it was large enough for the two of us decorated in cream colours separate toilet from the shower bathroom area. Tea making facilities fridge wifi tv all available. Have to mention the shower was the worst no pressure just a trickle of water not good enough. We had two wingback chairs and a table as well in the bedroom. Went to the bar area a large room which doubled as a bistro area too. The dining room was very busy on the two nights we ate there. Have to say the food was delicious both nights and the bar food was equally delicious. I dont know how the staff can present such fantastic food to so many well done. The drinks are expensive but your on holiday there is music some nights which is good as you are out in the country. Now for the spa I had booked a special treatment afternoon so looking forward to it. Went down to the spa area receptionist gave me the usual form to fill out then asked me to wait in the relaxation area for the therapist. Surely that was not the place to wait the therapist finally arrived quietly calling my name this is in the relaxing area !!!! I was not informed at any time the sequence of my treatments as the first therapist after my massage which was relaxing told me to close the door after me and bye. Back to reception told to go back to relaxation area which by this time was not a relaxing place anyway the rest of my treatments were a mystery until they started working on me as I had different therapist every time. The relaxing afternoon I envisaged did not happen. would not recommend this spa disorganised and a lot of loud talking between staff not good enough. The golf course is in great condition and the club house is very grand. Overall would recommend the hotel and golf course but not the spa.
Three of us went here for bar food recently. I went for open beef on sourdough bread ,which was on the menu. What I actually got was beef sandwich on sliced bread. Not good. My wife had a BLT she got what she ordered alright but the toast was cold . We ate them but said we would not be back. The chicken burger which my son had was very good. We had one mixed berry crumble which turned out to be apple crumble. The bill was way off the mark too. This was rectified but we will not be back. Shame really as the service was very good.
Hotel is not bad clean and is nice inside the foyer etc is lovely the room was clean and spacious though lacked a few things we had a family room but no fridge, no bottled water, TV was small and outdated the only channels were the rte plus bbc1 and bbc2 that was it no other channels worked. The evening meal in Fredericks restaurant was not good at all the menu was poor and we all struggled to pick something it was a set menu but most hotels are and I've never struggled to find anything I liked before, it was ment to be a 4 course meal but we were only offered 3 no tea or coffee was offered at any time to us. If you are going don't eat in the hotel go into the village its ment to be far better. The breakfast was fab it was self service the waitress did not explain anything to us other than it was self service by luck I found the home made pancakes you need to ask for those of the chef who makes the ommlettes. I also forgot to mention at the evening meal the waiter takes your order for all 3 courses at once no coming back to check on anything not great for what's ment to be a 4 star hotel would not go back.
