We stayed here on our first night in Ireland on 22 September 2017 and we are so glad we did. The hotel was a last minute rush booked via the tourist information office in Carlow as there were no available B&Bs left. Receptionist was fantastic and very welcoming and we were booked into the 'Crofton Suite', very plush and we felt presidential. Room was massive but comfy, free wi-fi, everything perfect. We went into town and had a meal at Reddy's Bar and Restaurant on recommendation from the receptionist and they too were absolutely lovely. What a great welcome to Ireland. Breakfast was everything you'd expect despite it being very busy due to a bus load of German Tourists, the staff handled it exceptionally and professionally well. I'd love to go back, thanks for a great stay and some great memories.
My New Zealand friends and I stayed here for 3 days to visit South East. We loved our stay here. Rooms are super cleaned daily room we highly recommend it's very comfortable we were on second floor. Staff super so helpful on everything. I read negative reviews the fact I am Irish the negative reviews are totally out of order. It's a great hotel rooms are great staff wonderful and so helpful. My only recommendations is for them to review their muselli. I love muselli and am fussy but it's me I accept Other than that breakfast is simply wonderful. All choices available and staff prepared to accomadate all choices. We eat in the restaurant for evening meal and it was delicious. We highly recommend their evening menu. Simply delicious. So do not zone in on negative reviews I've read them and they are totally out of order. It's a beautiful hotel maybe not to everyones choice but definitely ours we had a great time here including all meals. To the hotel get your muselli menu on par with the Irish in us all. Great stay loved it and a thank you to your wonderful staff the very best.
Coach partly from Wales. Really good hotel, excellent service, the restaurant staff were amazing, so helpful and nothing too much trouble The food was excellent, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and plentiful. The dining room had such an atmosphere with their huge tiffany lamps, I really like it. The rooms were very warm, clean and spacious. The entrance to the hotel was very welcoming. Would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
This stay was a pigsback offer for my friends birthday. The good points are we got to check in an hour early, the room was huge I loved it and it was quiet. We had lunch and it was nice, we had breakfast in the room the next morning and wasn't charged for it which was great. Now the bad points are parking isn't great, if your a guest it's ridiculous to be honest. I wasn't offered what I was entitled to with the pigsback offer and too be honest the receptionist looked and acted like she'd rather be somewhere else. When we came down to the bar around 9.30pm it was dead, I know it was a Sunday but there was no sign of life. I've stayed here loads of times and maybe I'll stay again.
So cold, unbelievable that the heat only goes on at fixed times in bedrooms. We had to ask the waiter to switch on heat in bar. The reception area really cold. I would not recommend this hotel, and I am extremely disappointed.
The nice waitresses and the decent breakfast saves the hotel from getting a 1. The shower water was never more than lukewarm over the weekend when there were many guests. The toilet refused to flush properly in spite of several days of complaints to the management.I had too fill the waste paper basket with water to augment the flush... Since the hotel was full, changing room was not possible. Carlow is also a sad place with people begging on the streets and a miserable town center.
I have been staying in this Hotel twice monthly over the past 18 months and find it to be a very good hotel to stay in with very efficient friendly management & staff. The bar / restaurant has a very good menu with something for everyone with great service. The gym & pool are nice very well managed with help and advice on hand if required. I have not attended any of the dances or music functions but I see promotions for many of the top Irish acts.
The hotel is nice but it's a maze! If staying request a room on the second floor. The third and fourth floor are miles away and a bit of a trek. They allocated my room to other people and we had the whole embarrassing walk in on me when I wasn't dressed.. oh well! The shower didn't have hot water but the bath did.. The walls are pretty thin in the hotel and my neighbour had the tv on all night.. The food was really good though and I really enjoyed my meal. Big portions and hearty! The pool was really nice, the tiles are exceptionally slippy though so be careful. It's a nice hotel and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Was nice enough and good value for a group.
Nothing to write home about. Not particularly friendly and alongside the orange bedding the hotel came across as a bit tacky/cheap looking. We were also woken by a fairly loud gym/fitness class outside booming out a series of 'classic tunes'.
