While the room was pretty standard, it was clean and the staff friendly. Originally we were going to stay 2 nights, but a snow was coming and we had to get back to Denver to catch our flight. We couldn't risk getting trapped 4 hours away. I highly recommend America's Best Value Inn.
Perfect location for my business trip.Very nice people.Variety of room sizes.I had a 2 bed with refrigerator and microwave for a very reseasonable price. Very comfortable, clean.Had a good night sleep. Continental breakfast:Hard boiled eggs, cereal, danish, muffins etc. Plus there are a few smoking rooms available. Restraunts, stores near.Major hgwy to sightsee or travel on.Wonderful small town to visit. Easy parking for R.V.s,campers and semi drivers.
We arrived at 8 pm, quick check in and found we had 2 double beds, in a small room comfy room. It was very clean, had a pretty comfy bed, and 4 pretty firm pillows that gave me a sore neck by morning. Nice bedding. Bathroom was spotless, lots of towels and best of all...HOOKS!!! Such a rarity in most hotels. They had a big over the door one, and then a double hook next to tub. I was in heaven to be able to hang my stuff. We did hear the nearby trains thru the nite, but I kinda like them. Breakfast was not served till 7am , but we were able to get coffee by 6:30am. Very nice selection of muffins, bagels, hard boiled egg, cereal and juice. We really appreciated it.
We stayed here on a trip between Denver and Rapid City. The room was average for this type of motel, and the front desk girls were friendly and helpful. They recommended a couple places for dinner that were within easy walking distance, so we gave one of them a try. Although the train tracks were within yards of the hotel, I don't remember hearing the train after bedtime - maybe twice the whole time we were there. The next morning we walked across the tracks again over to the old main street and ordered some stuff from a print shop. While waiting for that we walked around and found a hairdresser with an opening and my husband got a haircut. We picked up our print order and STILL checked out on time. Gotta love small towns, and this hotel was a perfect fit for us on this trip. Breakfast was good too, nice selection. Bed was comfortable, we'd stay again when passing through. They also have parking for big rigs.
Stayed in Torrington at America's Best Value Inn. The room while sparsely decorated was comfortable with a good mattress and okay pillows. While on the older side it was clean and fairly well taken care of with one glaring exception being the bathroom. Dirty sink, one of the smallest toilets I've ever seen, dirty floor but what really defines the bathroom is the yellow stained caulking around the toilet and the lack of a plug over the sink drain... it's really a shame that should have been a 4-star hotel but the bathroom was that bad.
Other hotels in Torrington doubled their prices during Eclipse-mania, but Americas Best held to its normal rate. I was impressed by the continental breakfast, which included brand-name foods, gluten-free muffins, surprisingly good coffee -- and all laid out in a clean and attractive array. The desk clerk was friendly and efficient.
We traveled to Torrington to view the total eclipse not knowing where we could stay and prepared to sleep in the car if necessary. Another reservation we had made well ahead of time in another town was cancelled just before the event. We happened upon this hotel and miraculously were able to get a room. The price was inflated because of the eclipse but not nearly as high as some. The room was clean, well maintained and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Continental breakfast wasn't fancy but the quality of the items was good, and the artisan raisin bread was very good. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
I told clerk that checked me in that I was leaving at 0500. She told me that she couldn't give me a receipt because I did an online reservation but that there would be no problems getting my copy at 0500. The night manager informed me that I was not allowed to checkout until 0700 when day shift started and that she was not able to do receipts. The room was clean and shower hot with a decent bed
The only redeeming qualities were the wifi and a reasonably comfortable bed. There is a very active train crossing 100 yards from the hotel. Between the terrible night's sleep and the fact that the coffeemaker in my room didn't work, I Can't give the facility more than one star.
This is a nice, older hotel that has good, basic updates. My room was very clean, with newer carpeting and bedspread. The room had all the amenities -fridge, microwave, coffee pot, flat screen TV, hair dryer, grounded protected business outlet box for computers & phones, and a nice brand of cosmetic / hygiene products in the bathroom. With the wall unit fan / AC / heat on, the white noise blocked any train noise there might have been. Window opens if you want fresh air. The bed was too firm for my taste, as were the pillows, but that's personal preference. Friendly check-in. There is a pool area and continental breakfast, but I didn't use them, so can't review. There are only three hotels in town, and a small motel a bit out of town, so choices are limited, but I thought this was a good choice.
