Hilton Evian-les-Bains

To be frank, I chose the Hilton Evian-les-Bains purely as a result of 1.) my departure point back to the US from Geneva, CH (a couple hour train ride away) and 2.) my Hilton Honors Diamond status (and desire to use Hilton points for the stay). Despite the surface-level reasons for choosing the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised with a very nice property along the coast of Lake Geneva. Evian-les-Bains is a cute town (home to the famous Evian mineral water) just across from Lausanne, CH via a 35-minute ferry ride. I enjoyed walking along the water across from the hotel, snapping shots of the snowy Alps off to the east, and refilling my Evian bottle from one of two flowing taps in town (for free). The hotel itself was a quick, five-minute walk from the CGN ferry station (a bit further of a walk from the rail station, which is further west in town but I believe still walk-able). However, the trip up a small hill to the main entrance might be a problem for some visitors, particularly those with a lot of baggage. As mentioned above, the hotel property faces directly out onto Lake Geneva with a very clear view to Lausanne. The desk attendant that checked me in was very professional, thorough, and friendly. I was pleased to receive a room upgrade to the executive level, but I was a little less enthused with the explanation that the Hilton Honors lounge was closed for renovation and an alternate space was being used. I checked back on the Hilton app and saw no mention of this, which was surprising because Hilton is normally good about these notifications. The alternate space was located downstairs in the conference area, which although it was much less convenient from my room than down the hall, the hotel still made the lounge experience happen (even if the conference room setting was a little sterile). I would also note that the canapes served during dinner were truly that--canapes rather than a broad selection of heavier appetizers as I commonly find at other Hiltons. In other words, do not expect the evening service to satisfy your cravings for dinner. The only real issue I ran into on the stay was that with the usual lounge closed, the lounge space was only open for the evening service; I was stopped by the hotel staff when I attempted to go down to grab a water around 1p as the room was totally closed. This was a bit disappointing. I walked about 5 or 10 minutes to a nearby grocery store (with some of the cheapest Evian prices you will get worldwide), but still, it was a bit of an inconvenience to have to run out for a snack when compared to other Hilton stays. The room was acceptably clean and somewhat large by European standards, with a nice, two-piece desk and two chairs with a small table. The bed was adequately comfortable, though potentially too firm for some sleepers. The bathroom was clean and updated, although the shower stall was quite narrow, making for a bit of an awkward washing experience. I really appreciate the balcony, even in January, as it allowed for some relaxing moments enjoying a hot or cold beverage and staring out at the sea and faintly-lit Lausanne. The breakfast buffet was nicely done, with an adequate selection of hot and cold dishes and beverages as well as breads and some pastries. I ordered room service both nights from downstairs, and each time the food arrived within half an hour and the delivery server was very friendly and even called back afterward to ensure that I was enjoying the meal. The fitness and spa facilities were located in-house, though technically at a separate doorway from the hotel. Either way, the space was large and updated. The gym equipment was respectably plentiful and updated for a hotel fitness center. There was an indoor pool with adjacent wet and dry saunas and locker rooms. I will admit I was a bit disappointed by the small, tucked away wet and dry saunas near the indoor pool filled with families with younger children. There were supposed hours of when children were allowed in the facilities under adult supervision, but clearly those were just suggestions rather than rules based on the hours that I visited. I did not bother really with these areas therefore, but I could imagine it would still be enjoyable under slightly different circumstances. Overall I was pleased with my stay at the Hilton Evian-les-Bains and would consider returning in the future if my plans brought me back to this quaint town. Thanks to the staff for the friendly and consistent service.

Having spent 100 nights of the year in hotels (usually Hilton) for work purposes, we decided to head here for a winter break betweek Christmas and New year. It was great to find that the Hilton Brand at this hotel fulfilled all of our expectations and more. The hotel staff were fantastic from check-in to check-out. Making sure that we had everything we needed, including spacious, quiet and well equipped room close to the Kids Club (another pleasant and unexpected extra). The Pool time for the kids during the winter is limited but we made full use of it, and the other spa/fitness facilities that were of a good standard. very difficult to find anything to criticise about this hotel, other than perhaps teh slightly expensive parking (16€ per day), but street parking opposite the hotel costs half and is easy to use. A walk to the city centre from the hotel is less than 10 minutes, and within 5 minutes you are spoilt for choice of restaurants. Definately planning a visit in the summer to experience Evian (which btw is a wonderful Christmas experience), and the outdoor part of the hotel that was of course closed during our stay. Looking forward to it already...

A excellent hotel with excellent facilities and very helpful and lovely staff. I highly recommend this hotel. Location was excellent and the room was very well presented. The executive lounge could be a little better equipped but overall an excellent experience

Had a few days to relax after Christmas and New Year skiing. Lovely town with a great selection of restaurants and driftwood sculptures. Hotel is perfectly located on the Lake, exterior is a bit tired but gardens and exterior make up for it. As mentioned in other reviews the staff are excellent and could not be more professional. Would highly recommend and will return in the future.

We spent two days at Hilton Evian and we have been very disappointed from the quality and service of this house. Starting from the welcome, the organisation of the breakfast, the handling of Hilton Honors Gold Members, the unrespectful communication with guests and so on. In our opinion Hilton Evian is a shame for the brand Hilton.

Booked this hotel because of good reviews for the executive lounge. Turns out it’s horrible. Simple food like any housewife in France could make. Not clean. Found some food from the other night on the floor. Returning customers where also complaining. Hotel could need better cleaning and maintenance. My bed was clean at least. I also found the complete hotel customer list with all their preferences in the public area of the hotel... Staff was helpful. Service good. Food ok, nothing special. As a diamond member I was not upgraded. Apparently the walking distance to the executive lounge would have been too much for me?? (Wtf) I would not stay there again. And if I had too, a simple room would easily do. Their executive rooms are tiny... The pictures are not up the actual state of the hotel. Many Chinese tourists with busses staying there. Maybe the label Hilton will go away, looks like a horrible holiday inn... I’m sitting in the Munich Hilton executive lounge now, much better....

I had a very pleasant stay; Hotel was very nice and staff very helpful and receptive to customer needs. Nice lounge and spa areas. Very quiet during wintertime, only drawback was the outdoor pool closed!

Another great stay with Hilton! We had a one night stay in Evian and we were given a big room to fit my parents and i. The room comes with a balcony and we were excited to experience our first snowfall of the year from the comfort of our balcony. The room is clean and spacious, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was also great. Overall ambience was good and quiet. The lakeside view from our room was a bonus. Would had been better if the weather was good when we were there.

I always thought it somewhat strange to find a Hilton in a small town in Europe but being a Hilton Honours member, tend to gravitate to them when available. I was not disappointed and while it is nothing special, it lived up to Hilton standards overall. Pretty good for the money.

Beautiful hotel on a tranquil lake in France. Heavy snow upon arrival and heavy snow upon departure. The snow created a winter wonderland on the property and was truly beautiful. Our stay was quite enjoyable.
