I stayed here as a friend was having a 40th birthday near by. When I checked in the service was great. Nice and friendly from the guy behind the counter. My room looked clean. However that's when the good stuff ended. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, which meant a poor nights sleep, but on top of that the hotel is so badly sound proofed I could hear doors slamming all night. I could hear people's conversations in other rooms and in the corridor. I could even hear people plugging and unplugging their devices in the room next door. It was a very poor nights sleep. Only thing that made it bearable was the great shower in the morning.

We were at this hotel for 2 nights while attending a family event. The first night (Friday) we had dinner in the restaurant: not a vast menu and portion size too big for us but well cooked and presented. Our room was at the back overlooking a lovely large field and even with windows open, and therefore sound travelling from TVs, we were fortunate that residents went to bed at a reasonable time and the quiet was very welcome. Staff were very good and when something went wrong it was quickly put right. Plenty of parking and wifi works! Room very clean.

My husband and I had a Groupon deal for this hotel and didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and the staff were excellent. The grounds were really beautiful too. We spent one day in Windsor which was about 30mins away by car. I would highly recommend his hotel. Location is good and the grounds are also nice and relaxing.

Nice clean hotel well situated between reading and thatcham. The resteraunt is nice and convenient for evening meal if staying for business, the breakfast is very good with a wide choice. For a short stop over you cannot fault this hotel. Would be nice to have gym facilities on site but then the price of stay reflects that.

Visited and stayed here many times with work, the rooms are getting tired but are clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. The food is good and is very quick, slightly too quick for a couple of my colleague whose spring rolls were not fully cooked. Breakfast has a good selection and is also of s good quality.

Just spent a relaxing weekend at West Grange Hotel, near Reading. The food was delicious, loads of choice on the buffet at breakfast (the scrambled egg was creamy and delicious). Very good service, and our room was comfortable, quiet and spotless.

Stayed for a couple of nights on a Groupon offer...Not disappointed! Beautifully kept gardens to front of property, ideal spot for a pre-dinner drink, and a central courtyard style garden with plenty of comfy seating. Great views over open countryside to the rear of the hotel. We were greeted by Richard who explained the meal times layout of hotel etc and even offered to help with our luggage. Restaurant offered great value for money..With huge portions. All the staff were friendly and helpful but a special mention to Richard who really made you "feel at home" Rooms were very clean with everything you needed. Would definitely stay again

Just spent a w/e end here and could not have asked for anything better....really good staff, breakfast 1st class and plenty of it,free newspaper,,free drinks, lovely well. kept grounds(ideal for a wedding).thank You.

On a coach trip visiting London , overnight stop, nice setting in attractive gardens bordering fields. Slightly 'dated' hotel , not a criticism just an observation of what is a clean and pleasant hotel with all amenities in a two-storey building. Nice bar/restaurant and the 3 course meal we were served was good. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were polite and helpful. Our room was a decent size and the en-suite clean and adequate (shower in bath the only thing that some folk might not like - hence the 'dated' bit). Nothing to dislike here

This West Grange Hotel is situated out in the country, east of Newbury, just off the A4. This must be one of the hidden gems in the hotel business. Yes, it appears to be in the middle of nowhere, yet it is only 10 minutes into Newbury and the A34 and 20 minutes into Reading and M4. It is "PERFECT". We arrived at the hotel on a Groupon offer and were immediately taken by it's ideal location. It was smartly presented, set in it's own grounds with a wonderful area to walk and explore. Parking was easy, with all spaces in a close proximity to the hotel. We were warmly welcomed by a charming young man, who was willing to lend a hand with whatever we required. He explained the set-up of the hotel, giving us the time schedule for dinner and breakfast, pointing out to us where the bar and dining room were situated. 1st class service! He led us to the lift, opening the relevant doors, making our 30 second walk easy. The Best Western West Grange Hotel has only 2 floors, ground floor for eating and drinking, 1st floor for all accommodation rooms. All room numbers were clearly sign posted, impossible to lose your room. On entering our room, everything was spotlessly clean and laid out well. Plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe area, with plenty of coat hangers of decent strength. The bed looked enormous, and was, fresh linen everywhere. Bathroom facilities were included in the spotless category and included all the necessary items required for your stay. Our room was on the inside run of the hotel, so we were rewarded with a lovely view of the internal courtyard, complete with a delightful running water fall system. There was no intrusive noise to be had anywhere. My mother's room was situated just opposite ours, on the outside of the hotel. Her room was much the same as ours, spotlessly clean, all where you expected it to be including the tea/coffee and biscuits alongside the kettle. If there was any advantage with her room, it was that she overlooked open countryside. On our 1st night, I wanted to have something in my room instead of going down to have an evening meal in the dining room. This was solely due to the fact that Wales were playing Ireland in the rugby 6 nations tournament. So, at 19.00, I rang down to reception and inquired if room service was available, " no problem sir, what would you like? ". I placed my order and expected to wait at least 30 minutes for delivery. By 19.15 I was sat in front of the TV, enjoying my starter of chicken and malt whisky pate, with a lovely salad and 2 pieces of warm, buttered toast. I opened my 1st bottle of Speckled Hen beer and waited for kick-off. During the match, I also devoured my main course of mature cheese and chutney on ciabatta bread, along with a further 2 bottles of beer, thoroughly enjoying the food, which was excellent and fresh, the beer, one of my all time favourites, and the crowning glory, Wales beat Ireland! My wife and my mother went and dined in the dining room and both commented, " excellent meal " Breakfast the next morning was also top class, laid out invitingly with virtually all that you could desire. It was the customary, ' self service ' type that you commonly get in the majority of hotels nowadays, but everything was hot and fresh, even though we weren't in for breakfast until 9.40. Nothing was any trouble and we were treated well and politely. The second night we all ate in the dining room and once again the meal was " excellent ", the wine was extremely good and the service was second to none. The following day, at breakfast, we were all talking about how good the staff were, how courteous and polite they were, but mainly how ' happy ' they all came across. I cannot recommend this Best Western West Grange Hotel highly enough and would say that if you were looking for a good value, comfortable, quiet few days away, then this is most definitely top of your list. If you want a more " upbeat " few days away, then this hotel must be in serious contention as you have Reading only a short distance, Newbury even closer and even the attraction of Windsor is no more than a 45 minute drive away. You certainly won't get a better quality stay in 95% of hotels in this country and be able to walk away with a great big smile on your faces.
