This is a well presented and professional hotel that requires a few changes. The entertainment in the evening is non existent and with families with young children they are missing a trick. A little kiddies disco for an hour in the evening would keep families at the hotel and eating in the restaurants. They also need to drop the trouser dress code for the restaurants!!! What's wrong with tailored shorts - it's people's holidays after all!! The set up with the pools is also rather strange. They require a more comprehensive area for families at the pool. When we stayed the kids pool was closed most of the time to accommodate private functions. Why?? Overall a great hotel but lacking some vital resources.
As hotel itself has plenty great aspects regrettably some of them really deteriorated over the last years: Spa: You have to pay for flip flops. You don't get glass of cava anymore. Housekeeping: dirty balcony, and bathroom full of hair (on arrival) Bar: inconsistent quality of drinks Next time we try Ritz
If you want a friendly no fuss quiet hotel with the perfect facilities look no where else. The buffet restaurant is superb and the staff are more than welcoming and helpful. Thoroughly recommended. The poolside facilities are superb. The room was spotless and the facilities and grounds immaculate.
There are some good points about this hotel such as the communal areas and our sea facing club room. The buffet restaurant was a nice place to sit and eat dinner and from a far the pool areas look very nice. I found the men's dress code for the buffet restaurant to be ridiculous, my husband was not allowed in unless he was wearing long trousers, however, I was allowed to wear my scruffy denim shorts, and some of the other younger girls were wearing hot pants and belly tops, none of which I have a problem with, but if you are going to have a dress code it should be sensible and universal. The ground around the large pool needs to be resurfaced, it's in a dreadful state, it is only a matter of time before someone has a very nasty accident. This has been mentioned in previous reviews and the general manager really should take note and address it, I have never seen the path and walkways where sun loungers are placed in such disrepair. Whilst the waiting staff were all very friendly, there were never enough of them at breakfast, lunch or dinner to provide a good service, I found this particularly frustrating in the restaurant by the pool during lunchtime. I wanted to get my toddler fed as quickly as possible and I never enjoyed lunch because the service was particularly slow. In addition, our orders were wrong on several occasions, we were brought bread and olives that we had not ordered, we also ordered a sandwich without bacon, it came with bacon, and my husband ordered a linguini that came covered in prawns, the menu states that prawns are an additional €4 and we did not order them. We do no eat any bacon or any shellfish and it is a real problem for us to be served food containing either, we didn't but make a fuss because it would have taken far to long to sort out so we just didn't bother eating our lunch and looked after our son. There is a sign on the reception desk stating the costs for a late checkout, when we were checking in we said we'd like to pay for a late checkout on the day of departure and were advised that we should come back and sort it out the day before our departure. My husband did just that, however, he was initially told that our room had been allocated to someone else so we could not have one and we would have to vacate the room. My husband asked them to allocate the guests who were yet to arrive to a different room and was told it was very difficult and complicated to do that, it took approximately 30 minutes of my husbands time to get this arranged. It was possible, they just couldn't be bothered unless they were pushed. In a 5* hotel I would expect to be told, no problem, of could we can do this for you, I don't need to know how difficult or complicated it is, if it is possible, and we are happy to pay for it, then the guests should not have to push for it. The biggest problem I had with the Sheraton la Caleta was when we were checking out. We booked with jet 2 on a full board basis, our booking stated that we would receive a credit for lunch in the pool side restaurant, and the menu in the pool side restaurant stated that my husband and I would have €24 credit each and my son would receive €12 euro credit each day, this is explicitly stated on the menu in the restaurant. We spent nowhere near that amount on food each day, sticking to salads that cost between and €11 and €15 each, I am 20 weeks pregnant so didn't have a huge appetite, and my toddler had pasta from the children's menu that was €8 and ice cream that was €4. We also ordered a bottle of water that was €4.50 each day, occasionally my husband ordered a coffee or a beer but that was not every day. We made sure we were always within our allocated €60 daily credit. When it came to check out we had a €300 bill, €60 of the was from drinks we had over lunch, coffee and water in the restaurants are expensive. Due to what we do for a living, may husband and I are sticklers for the fine print and contractual details so we questioned this we were advised that it was hotel policy not to include drinks in the daily €60 lunch time credit. We said this had not ever been explained to us and asked if we could have sight of their policy. They made no attempt to show this to us but kept quoting it, we were able to show our booking, a copy of their menu as well as all of the receipts from each lunch we had, none of these stated that drinks were not included in the daily €60 credit so we advised that we'd like the amount removed from the bill. The initial guy we were dealing with was very professional and pleasant said he could not remove the charge, I am sure he could have, had there been some incorrect charges assigned to our room he would have been able to remove them, right? We expressed our disappointment and again asked to their policy on this, again, they could not show this to us. My real disappointment came when someone more senior came to speak to us and was what I can only describe as cocky, so much so, it really annoyed me. He actually argued with us, this is 5 star hotel, and in this instance they could not product the policy they continually quoted to us and were completely wrong, eventually after 45 minutes of us standing our ground he removed €40 from our final bill. Customer service is what really makes a hotel 5 star, the Sheraton la Caleta does not do this well. Our holiday ended on a very unpleasant note and we would not return or recommend staying here, spend your cash elsewhere. And jet2, this was not an indulgent escape!
We are able to holiday abroad very regularly and are always looking to add to the stock of hotels we use. This one is definitely one we will add to our collection The hotel oozes quality from the minute you check in and it is set in very pleasant grounds in one of the quieter parts of Tenerife. Check in was very pleasant speedy and efficient and we were lucky enough to be up graded. The room was on the 3rd floor in a corner position looking out to the beautiful gardens with the sea in the distance. The room was very large with a comfortable double bed and ample wardrobe space and drawers with a full range of amenities including separate shower and bath a free safe and fridge and large TV with a full range of UK channels. The inside and outside bar and relaxing areas were all well attired to a very good standard. The main dining area opened up onto a pool area and gardens. The dining room ambience was very pleasant and comfortable. We however were very surprised how many young children and babies were present particularly at breakfast so this made it much less relaxing. With Jet2 this hotel is billed as an 'Indulgent Escape' package perfect for adults. So this aspect I would somewhat question. We paid extra for evening meal which was of a good standard with plenty of choices even for a couple who don't eat red meat. We ate out on a number of nights and in future would book bed and breakfast only as there are many quality restaurants in easy walking distance of the hotel. The big problem in the dining room however is the constant presence of birds flying in and out and often sitting on the food. I have reported this food health and safety issue to the hotel and Jet2. I understand it will not be an easy issue to resolve but it does need urgent attention. The pool areas are well maintained and there was always a good supply of beds and an easy system of free daily towel change. At the weekend when the hotel was busier there were always plenty of pool staff available and extra beds were added on the grass. The staff throughout the hotel were always very friendly and nothing seemed too much for them. The daily room service was to a high standard with no inconvenience. Despite the issues I have referred to we will definitely return to this hotel. In summary it is a quality hotel in a quiet location with easy access to the seafront and nearby village of Caleta. Many holidaymakers may want the hustle and bustle and nightlife of Playa de las Americas but we don't.
Love this place , people are friendly. Staff are very helpful.. Jasmin is a wonderful host , very bubbly .. it's difficult to get everything right all the time, but when we did have an issue or a niggle it was dealt with quickly and very efficiently.. I'm going back in a few months !!! Can't wait .
Can't recommend enough, the room was perfect and spotless, cleaned early each day. Facilities were fab, pools lovely and clean and gardens were immaculate. Staff were very friendly. We'll be coming back.
The stay at this hotel was excellent. It is a beautiful hotel, very modern and spacious. I am an SPG member and was upgraded to an ocean front room which was very big, clean, bright and comfortable. All of the staff in the hotel are very polite, friendly and respectful in the entire hotel. All of the guests that stayed at this hotel were respectful. All of the guests with children and their children were respectful. I ate in this hotel for my entire 12 day stay. The food at all of the restaurants for all meals were excellent. The service was excellent. The weather was always hot and sunny. It was a great stay and I could not have asked for more. I definitely plan on returning with my family, including grandsons. I would like to mention that these individuals went beyond the scope of their duties: The Duty Manager: Piotr Danilewicv and Christina Sanchez (Guest Relations), Jasmine Fiege (Host for breakfast and dinner), Mariana Paulo (check in receptionist) and Caludia (Consierge). I highly recommend this hotel to all. It was again an excellent stay, very peaceful and relaxing with excellent service, food and ambiance. It is well worth it!
Good sized rooms, friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of choice regarding food, drink and amenities. Is clearly up there competing with other large chains, although they still retain the friendly charm. Breakfast buffet a bit chaotic, but that was more to do with the residents
We stayed at the Sheraton La Caleta in June for an extra long weekend and we weren’t disappointed! We booked as we are SPG Gold members and were keen to increase our points balance, plus the service we had received from staying in other Sheraton’s was a huge factor in our choice. We had told the hotel that we were arriving at 12 and had pre-paid our room in advance, so we were disappointed that checkin seemed to take so long – the hotel also seemed to be fairly empty on the first day of our stay, so this was more bizarre. After a pretty long wait, we went to our room which was pretty spectacular in size, the only disappointing part was the view from the balcony as you can see from the picture – whilst there was a view of the sea, it seems to be badly designed so that the view is restricted and fairly dull. I don’t know if this was an upgraded room (as is tradition with SPG gold) as we paid for the cheapest one – I preferred a better sun lounger than a room. We received some welcome chocolates and water on arrival and free premium wifi for our devices as part of the gold membership rewards, which worked seamlessly on all devices in every area of the hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable and large, the room was really large with a lovely bath, shower and double vanity in the bathroom. Plenty of storage and a fridge for anything you may purchase, and you are delivered two small bottles of water and chocolates each night as part of the turn down service. One huge plus for me is also that the safe has a power point in it so you can charge your valuables whilst they are locked away – this is such a good idea and should be adopted by so many other hotels! We loved the relaxed pace of the hotel – it was quiet, lots of space to relax (more than ample sun loungers and space between sun loungers) and no shouting advertising aerobics/diving lessons etc which you have found at other hotels. The towels were of great quality and as we asked nicely we got 4 instead of 2 towels so we were amply covered! The pools were lovely – there was a beautiful salt water pool at the base of the hotel near the beach which had lots of different areas via snaking around so you never felt like you were swimming with a load of people. There was a Jacuzzi as well over the little bridge, but you kept having to push the button as it only stayed on for 2 mins or so – so that could be improved. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had included. The selection was fantastic – everything you could possibly want including cava included! There was a cereal bar, fresh fruit, ample choice of yogurts, delicious pastries (including wonderful custard tarts!), hot food, every type of egg you could wish for, baked beans, vegetables, breads, juices and cold meats/cheeses. Even if you had any type of food intolerance or preference you could eat here so that was a huge plus! The menu in the pool bar area was varied and the salads were fantastic and fresh. Beers by the pool were about €4.50 and with your 15% SPG discount they worked out to be really reasonable. Unfortunately if you preferred a spirit you were looking upwards at €10 for the spirit alone which was a bit steep, so beer it was. The bar at the top of the hotel was lovely and relaxing – the seats were spaced well so you weren’t overhearing everyone elses conversations and the evening DJ/singer seemed reasonable, although we did go out for dinner and drinks each night. We didn’t eat in the restaurant for dinner, but I believe you needed trousers for gents (not shorts) in the restaurant areas. I had a massage but forgot to use the spa facilities that came included for one visit as part of the room - my therapist was lovely and provided a great massage! There is a supermarket as you come out of the hotel turn left and by the church there is a complex there – you can buy water/drinks/snacks – its literally a 3 min walk. You have to try the tapas place Secrets there as well, but that’s a separate review! In terms of into Adeje main areas, we got a taxi which was about €10ish from memory… Overall – we couldn’t fault the service in the hotel – it was outstanding and huge kudos to all the staff who are so polite and so willing to accommodate. I would really recommend a stay here at the Sheraton – you wont be disappointed!
