We went with another couple for a Christmas break. Both drivers had difficulty finding the hotel, which is one street back from the front. We both managed to park in the street, but we were fortunate to get parking nearby. The hotel is located a short walk from the front and the main square in the town. Accommodation is in 3 blocks and both couples were in different blocks and 3 minutes away from the restaurant and reception Our room was spacious and had self catering facilities. The only criticism we had was that the room was cold at night and the mattress needed replacement. Fortunately we bought a small fan heater with us. The outside pool and the gym looked good , but we did not try them out. The staff were excellent and the food was good even though the hotel was fully booked and catering for Christmas.
Just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel with a friend. We opted for a "studio" . The "studio" consisted of spacious bedroom with two single beds which when pushed together made a king size. There was also a small kitchen area which had a table and two chairs. It also had a two ring hob, a microwave , an under the counter fridge, a kettle, a coffee and an electric juicer. The bathroom was also spacious with an over the bath shower. The balcony also had a bistro style table and two chairs which is where we ate breakfast, the only time we cooked. The hotel grounds are well kept and the pool area and gardens are the ideal place for sunbathing 'tho I suspect when that hotel is really busy sun loungers would be at a premium. Take care though not to walk on the artificial grass bare footed as it is even hotter than the black sand. I can't comment on the food as I didn't eat in the hotel but was advised that breakfast and dinner were euros 13 and 18 p.p. respectively. If thinking of a studio bear in mind that the hotel do NOT equip it with the following:- tea towels, washing up liquid, dish cloth !!! Another concern was having a shower. The bath was very, very slippy and would have benefited from having a non slip mat in the bath. Something the hotel might think about. Whilst the room was serviced each day, with the exception of a Sunday, I suspect that the bed sheets were NOT changed as requested !!! One slight irritation was having to pay to use the safe in the bedroom which cost euros 30 for two weeks. As I didn't want to carry passports, air tickets etc I had no option other that to pay. As most other hotels I've stayed at offer this for free perhaps this hotel should consider doing likewise. You might be wondering if I'd use this hotel in future. The answer - YES I would
The hotel has a great location, its a 5 min walk to both the city centre and to the beach. There is no parking, which was a bit confusing since some booking pages says so, and it was difficult finding street parking. I booked a room with a balcony, but didn't get it. The rooms are refurbished and nice. The bathroom was pretty big and tons of closet space. BUT there was no AC! This made sleeping really difficult, i had to open the windows and there was a lot of traffic noise outside my room at night, even though it was a generally quiet street. On top of this housekeeping didn't change the sheets. They made the bed, but didn't change it and we were there for a week. They also kept taking back the extra towels i asked for so we had to ask again all the time. They dont have any towels by the pool. There was also no minibar/fridge so we couldn't buy anything that needed to be in a fridge and drank warm water. We had breakfast included, but only ate there once. It was OK food. The pool was pretty big wich was really nice, and the temperature were perfect, i dont think it was heated. Saltwater. I would consider staying with them again if i visit, but only if i can't find anything else of same quality and location with AC and minibar.
This hotel is located 5 minutes walk form the black sand beach and 10 minutes from the centre. We had a large room with a massive bed. The hotel has been mostly refurbished, our room was of modern decor and very comfortable. The breakfast offered a large choice. There were plenty of sun beds and a good sized pool. The town had plenty of restaurants and shops. We went for a chill so spent a lot of time relaxing around the pool and soaking up the sun. I would say once the refurbishment work has been completed this could be a 4 star hotel.
I stayed in the hotel San Borondon for 5 days, it's a nice and clean enough hotel in Puerto de la Cruz, but it has some big deficiencies. The biggest problem in our case was that rooms lack of air conditioner or fans, so you MUST sleep with all the windows open meaning you will have plenty of noise during night. First night we listened for 1 hour how a neighbor or someone on the street was having sex. Second night we hear a long fight of a young woman and his drunk boyfriend. Third night some guys fouling and doing botellón at the street. The hotel is cheap, but if you are staying at the latest floor (we were on the last.. The 4th) expect it to be really hot until 3am when everything starts to chill. BTW I asked for a portable fan, they say they only have 1 fan for the whole (ridicule I think...) hotel and it's taken already. The best thing about this hotel is the pool and its cheap, the food and drinks are regular you can eat much better downtown and cheaper, the worst is the lack of cooling system or simple fans on demand for the rooms. Service and employees are very very kind.
Last minute deals is ion. Never been Tenerife before and picked hotel off Internet because I liked the picture of building. I was not disappointed. Beautifully restored.with lovely room overlooking an outside bar and restaurant pool area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Well stocked inclusive breakfast. 5 minutes from sea(be prepared for black sand).5minutes from 1st area square with bars and restaurants and 15mins. From main sea front area. All walkable and beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed my time. Will be back.
Puerto de la Cruz is such a small town, so that where ever you stay, you are close to everything. Hotel San Borondon is located on a quiet street, with only local traffic. The rooms have been renovated: they are modern, fresh and clean, but very basic. Nice pool and garden! The service at the reception is rather mediocre (not because of a language barrier, as I speak Spanish), no wifi (except at the reception, and still you have to pay for it) and the breakfast was really poor (not quantity, but the quality). Would I repeat? No, I would not. There are a lot of other hotels available in the town.
Nice clean hotel in a good location. It is close to the centre, the bus station, and the sea. The standard room was clean and modern with a confortable foam mattress. Average breakfast, swimming pool not heated. Recommented!
This is a very nice hotel. Much more personal than many of the big hotels on Tenerife and its located in a less "touristy"area. Very friendly staff and clean rooms. The only thing that could have been better was the breakfast. I was missing a healthier choice here :)
My wife and I stayed here for 12 days in September 2016. From the first few moments we were disappointed. The room was terrible, unbelievably terrible. The mattress was rock hard, the locks on the balcony doors did not work, the curtains were ripped, no air conditioning!, the bathroom window was broken, the hand towels were filthy with black marks, there was no refrigerator (where the hell was it in this day and age, it had a crappy safe though!!!), a 25 year old television, the construction noise was constant every day and judging by previous comments it has gone on for years. The cleanliness was sufficient, not great though. These are not things that we should complain about when we get there! They should be fixed before we arrive. Does the Hotel even check the rooms before guests arrive? Do they even have maintenance? Who is managing this hotel? The food. WOW. It was a nightmare. It was pretty much the same tasteless breakfast every morning. Dry eggs, inedible bacon, rock hard potato churos, processed ham, bread rolls that could beak a window, cheese, cereal and passable machine coffee. I’m not even going to list the dinner on offer. Occasionally there was some fish that was edible. The deserts were not edible. My wife is a chef, she knows what she is talking about. There are no comments that management can make to excuse the disgusting ‘dishes’ on the buffet, that we were served. The prices at the bar were okay, not cheap but not expensive. The staff were super. They were polite, well presented. The staff spoke mostly Spanish and a little Deutsch and English. That was fine with us as we were visiting Spain. The overall hotel was clean and tidy except from all the construction going on. It was extremely noisy during the day. The facilities, aside from the pool, were very bad. The Gym was never open. The spa was never open. The tennis court looked unused for 5 years. There was no fun to be had. There was no music to liven things up. No laughing. Not a happy place. The location to the Town centre and coast was very good. There are no excuses for many of the problems we found staying at the San Boronden Hotel. We are not people to complain at the time and whinge about something we have paid for. But after the fact, we have every right to let other people know what they are getting for their money. I am Australian and have seen Hotels all over the world. My wife is German and she has also seen many Hotels all over Europe. Our opinion is that we did not receive anywhere near a service what we paid for. It does not matter that you are a small hotel, that your staff are a family, and that you have different rooms /different prices, different this, different that, blah blah blah. We paid good money and we were not happy. Puerto de la Cruz was an amazing town and Tenerife was great to explore. Just look for another Hotel. Good luck in the future.
