JUST RETURNED FROM THIS HOTEL A VERY ENJOYABLE STAY . a few things people need to be aware of is the hotel is at the top of a hill and over looks the ocean it is not on a beach. so be aware if you have a disability. the maid service is clean towels everyday and your bed straightened NOT changed 1 a wk . AND WE did order and pay for a superior room thank god as would'nt have like to seen standard or there service. hotel has no shop, for the bare essentials so be sure to bring your own . there is how ever a small shop about 10mins away or lidil at the very top of the hill 20mins away.
we upgraded to a sea view room, which was well worth the money if you want a beautiful view of the sea. the balcony was small though large enough to enjoy. being a fussy vegetarian, i was pleased with the options at breakfast. a full buffet and large choice of foods. the evening buffet was ok, but limiting but the chef often cooked me a special pasta meal on request. there are 3 swimming pools, we usually used the middle one as it was quieter at the time we were there and has a nice little bar for cocktails. the hotel is a great location, there is a Lidl just up a small hill which is handy for bottles of water and anything you may need, there is a small fridge in the room to store any essentials. there is also a free bus to take you to the main area with all the bars, restaurants and beaches are. great hotel, very clean and friendly helpful staff.
This hotel was nice to stay in but it's a bit out of the main strip of Puerto de la Cruz. It's about a 30 minute walk and there is a steep hill up to hotel. Not ideal for people with walking difficulties or small children. The hotel does offer a free shuttle bus service into the town but it was restricted times. The food was plentiful and good range. The bedrooms were a bit old fashioned and there was no main light in the bedrooms just side lights. The outside balcony of the bedrooms has a brilliant view of the ocean but this can be noisey at night. The bar was nice and it has 3 pools so they was always plenty of room at the pools.
My husband, 18 month old son and I stayed in a 17th-floor suite with a sea view. We had two balconies and the view and sound of the ocean and the coast was amazing and quite relaxing. I was quite obsessed with it and went out there at every chance I got! The suite was lovely but the sofas in the living room could do with some re-upholstering or some sort of revamp. The decor in the room was fairly old-fashioned but classic and clean - I didn't mind this as I quite like that style. The balcony doors need fixing or replacing as the doors wouldn't lock and the handles were slightly rusty. There is no wifi in the rooms - only in the hotel lobby (which, by the way is very nice - large, clean and pretty with some turtles and fish in the centre) The rooms only have cable internet and the hotel doesn't have cables for Apple laptops. This annoyed me at first, but in the end, it made for more quality time with my family as I spent less time online and only went down to the Lobby when I really needed to do something important. The hotel has a couple of bars and restaurants with great views. It also has two pools, and a lovely little garden. There is also a shuttle service to and from the town centre, where you can also get to the beach. One thing I also loved about the hotel was how close it is to Loro Parque. My family and I had planned a visit there and were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel is a 10 minute walk from Loro Parque Finally, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. Overall we had a great time and I would stay here again
This is a large complex with several high rise hotel blocks. I would hazard a guess and say it was built in the 70-80s but the hotel is clean, modern and has nice decor with good bars and food. The rooms are big, terraced and have a fridge which was handy. The bathroom and sleeping area is also more than adequate and very comfortable. There was nothing in the mini bar but you could order in or buy your own. There was also no tea or coffee facilities or wifi in the rooms...I think the hotel could do with supplying the former but not the latter. This is I can understand as it is such a huge hotel...we were on the 11th floor. There are several very large pools here (one was being painted on our stay) and also a very good gym. The down side with the gym was there was no water vender, sweat towel dispenser and only one running machine. I was very surprised with the latter as the gym is very large. Apart from that the gym is excellent. The food, standard buffet breakfast which was first class and the evening buffet (18E) with a free small beer was likewise. No complaints in the food department. Anyway...I liked the hotel but some reviews have intimated that this hotel is anti British and that there are a lot of old Germans here. Well to this I will say that I loved the staff...to the barmaid who knowingly gave me a big smile every time she filled my glass with Baileys and the barman who bought me the smallest wine glass of beer when I asked for a 'small one' (see photos) and he found it totally amusing as did I. I thought all the staff we met were wonderful...very friendly and accommodating. As for the Germans...I love them, old or young, I thought they were charming. All in all the hotel dropped a star because the gym deserved the little things that matter as stated and the rooms could really do with tea and coffee facilities...I would actually give 4.5 stars if I could. Well done though Mariitim...loved your place, the staff and the guests we met. I would definitely return... Ohhh the balcony views are great...a rocky coastline with waves crashing in all over the place!
Stayed at the Maritim Tenerife for 7 nights in early June. This is a huge hotel. 18 floors - we were on floor 9. The view was spectacular - over looking the wild Atlantic crashing on the rocks below. Beautiful views all round. Clean large room with fridge and loads of storage space. In fact so much we didn't use it all! Large bathroom with shower and bath. Once again loads of storage. Very comfortable bed - one of the best hotel beds i have ever slept in! Yes, it is a little dated ( we had similar curtains in the early 90s ) but it was clean and functional. On 1/2 board basis and the food was excellent. We expected to eat out, but no need. Wide variety of dishes and always hot and fresh whatever time you went. Restaurant was very nice in appearance and staff attentive. Receptionists either spoke Spanish or German but very helpful and pleasant. You can get by with a little English. 3 huge pools to choose from and one was being painted while we were there. But no worry plenty of room at the other 2. There is a lot of walking round to do and the area is very hilly so maybe not suitable for the elderly or infirm. A few local bars and restaurants are within walking distance and the centre of Puerto De La Cruz is a short and cheap taxi ride. Or take the free shuttle but the times are a bit limited. There is a huge Lidl at the top of the very steep hill and Loro Parque is 5 minutes walk away. Only downside is the poor wi-fi as only available in the lobby. Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms would be a bonus. Excellent value for money especially on 1/2 board. All round a very, very good hotel and an enjoyablepleasant stay there.
Even though the hotel is not the newest built, it was very clean and the food was great. There is something for everyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even though some of them answer in German if you ask them something in English. We still worked it out...The view from the balcony is breath taking, however, it is quite a walk into town. The taxis are cheap though. The door to the balcony could not be closed all the way and due to the height of the building the wind was making it rattle a bit at night time.
1970s boring and uninviting on the outside, the inside of this hotel was probably very nice when it was built. The reception area has broken, shabby, uncomfortable seating and a small reception area. It took over 20 minutes to check in. Our room was a "superior" room on the 14th floor with sea view. The furnishings were shabby, the beds uncomfortable, the bathroom was tiny with nowhere to put toiletries. The bath had been damaged at some point and the toilet had limescale stains. Tiling was dirty, all in all a very poor room. The single glazed windows did not keep out the noise of the crashing waves. The only evidence of "superior" was bathrobes and water/fruit (which was not replenished after the first day) The breakfast was ok, but the buffet dinner was tasteless and boring. Some staff were abrupt and some just plain rude. To add insult to injury, there was an offer during the month of a free water or a glass of wine with dinner, we did not qualify for this even though we had paid full price!! A shuttle bus runs into Puerto de la Cruz several times a day, but not on Sundays or Bank Holidays .... helloo! This is a holiday resort! This hotel is in a beautiful setting shame it is so ugly and rundown.
From the moment we arrived the service offered by the hotel staff was friendly, courteos, very efficient and prompt. We decanted to the pool side restaurant for refreshers and immaculately presented food. We then decamped to our very comfortable rooms on the 11th floor with spectacular views of the coastline and the atlantic ocean before we went to the padel courts *there are four" to challenge each other and stave off the threat of physical demise. We then changed attire for dinner then a round of trivial pursuit before retiring for a very good nights sleep. The next day we played "golf" and discovered two more lovely swimming pools and the grounds of the hotel. We failed to play tennis and would recommend booking courts at check in as the courts are popular.
The other reviews are right in that the Maritim is caught in a time bubble. If you really loved the 1970's and want to relive it, you can at the Maritim. It's quite fun actually The best bit though is the Garden pool. There are three pools and the Garden one is the furthest away from the hotel so is really quiet. Strongly recommended
