We spent a fortnight travelling in Latvia and Estonia, and this hotel was far and away our favourite. Everything there - the hotel decor, our room and the service - was excellent. In particular our room was spacious, characterful and very comfortable. We are delighted to recommend it heartily to future travellers who wish to visit Tartu (which in itself is a beautiful city, well worth seeing). The hotel is located right in the centre of town, near the town square. We came there by car: there is no hotel car park, but it was easy enough to find a parking space nearby. The hotel will help you sort out parking charges (which are very modest).
After visiting several different hotels kn Tarttu, Antonius is number one. Hotel is located just in the center of the city. Rooms are spacious with very romantic appearance. Rooms are noticeable quiet, service is super friendly and breakfast is a treat.
You stole my heart. The hotel is so idyllic and beautiful, my bathroom was bigger than my first apartment. Bed was good and breakfast was fine, even though little slow (there is an excellent a la carte breakfast, but service was slow). Location is excellent, other side of the road is the university main building. Hotel is in the heart of the old town. Warning: if you hate flower pattern, maybe think again.
Stayed here for several nights while on vacation in Tartu. The hotel has a great location, immediately adjacent to the town square. There is easy street parking available nearby. The room was large, and comfortable. The bathroom was similarly large. There is free, fast wifi in the hotel. The breakfast served each morning is great (and included mimosas!). My only complaint is that the interior rooms are directly above a restaurant courtyard, so you can hear dinner conversations/drinks/parties for much of the evening.
I spent my wedding day morning at this hotel. Beautiful, clean and unique hotel. Very helpful and friendly service. We used suite with the balcony and I can say, this is the most beautiful suite I have ever been. Thank You very much for Your contribution to our special day!
Hotel in romantic style. Friendly staff and very nice restaurant. I think we where not lucky with our room, nr 102. The whole bathroomfloor gets wet when you shower. The bathroom also smelled of sewer when it had rained a lot. Maybe this last issue is a temporary problem.
We really liked Tartu: a coherent and graceful Old Town, with the green of Cathedral Hill close by and an absence of the (cruise ship) hordes that throng through Tallinn. This hotel fits perfectly, with its roots in the past and every modern comfort. We were there over Saturday night (during the World Orienteering Championships, but not as participants), so parking outside was easy: I realise it might be trickier during the working week. Breakfast was as good as other reviewers have identified. An excellent boutique hotel at a reasonable price.
We went to the Antonius as it calls itself a 'boutique hotel.' We went on spec, and on arrival were told be the reception clerk that the only rooms left were €145. We asked if there was anything less expensive, and were told no. Back at the car, we looked at a hotel site online and found rooms available there for €99. We booked one. Back to the Antonius, and a surprised desk clerk didn't really offer an explanation or apology. Our given room was right up under the eaves, with no window, just a very high skylight. (It was supposed to be a 'superior' double room). Huge beams crisscrossed the ceiling. It was a bit oppressive. The bathroom was large, and nice and it did have a window overlooking the rooftops. Bed comfy. Location central. On street parking, which cost us €10. Breakfast in the morning was very nice indeed, with an excellent choice. We did not stay on, but went to the hotel London for the second night, which we preferred.
We liked everything in this hotel, especially breakfast, which was great. Champagne at breakfast was very good! Nice room, mini-bar, bathroom and interior were excellent. We will come to this hotel again and again.
We have stayed in the Antonius three years in a row. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is centrally located, its rooms are spacious, the service wonderful, and the breakfast ample and tasty. They aim to please. The showers take a bit getting used to, but it works out just fine.
