This hotel is very central indeed. Compact is the key word, the bathroom is absolutely TINY, no room for two people in it but everything is spanking clean and the staff were very friendly. So all in all it is functional and for a two day stay perfectly adequate
About 5 minute walk from JR Takayama station. Though there are several hotels much closer to the station, I think this hotel still has acceptable walking distance. The lobby is a bit small but is well decorated. The room is typically small for Japanese hotel of this nature. The hotel is located very near J-hoppers Hida Takayama where you can easily book a day trip tour to Shirakawago. This hotel also has a self check-out machine at the lobby where you can just insert the keycard for the check-out.
I believe the hotel delivers what most of tourists desire - good location (about 6min walk from JR Train Station, and right in front of an useful SevenEleven), and clean and new rooms (though the rooms are not so big, they are very confortable and the bathroom is ok). Since most of tourists don't usually spend more than 2-3 days in Takayama, Alpina is a good option for visitors, for the price they charge. Ps: the onsem at the last floor is amazing and a bath is definetly worth. Ps2: Staff's english can be improoved
Great location because it’s near the train station. The town is walkable. The room was clean. We got the two person room so it’s small but very comfortable. We enjoyed the onsen spa on the roof top everyday!
I chose the hotel given its proximity to the train station (the Nohi bus station to go to Shirakawago is just beside the train station). It is like the usual business hotel so the room I got was small but adequate. But we were really surprised by the arrangement of the room for triple. It was like a twin room so the couple (my parents) have to squeeze on a bed that was of the same size as mine! As it is only for a night, we did not raise the issue to the management and my parents were tired from the day trip to Shirakawago. There is also no laundry within the hotel for those who might need it. Nevertheless, the staff was lovely and helpful while the outdoor hotspring pool was a delight although small.
History: Originally built and opened in 2008 Location: East side of Takayama train station, approximately 5 minutes walk from there. Easily within walking distance to many Takayama tourist attractions. Interior Décor: Better than average Japanese business hotels, though not luxurious by any means. Exterior Appearance: 9 story hotel in a mix of commercial/residential area Outside view from the room I stayed at (828): East side of Takayama city with old residential houses with lush forested hills in the background. Room Description: Functional but rather Spartan appearance. Electrical outlets near the bed. Light switches near the bed. Sofa is there but not for inviting look. Room Size: Approximately, 20 square meters. Average size for Japanese hotel chains that feature 160cm width bed. Room Cleanness: Clean. Bathroom: Clean. Compact size. For better bath experience, go to the 9th floor public bath. Noise Insulation: Quiet and peaceful. Price and Value: Reasonable Friday night off season price considering the condition of the room and the location. Breakfast: Good all you can eat buffet featuring some local Takayama food. A bit crowded. Bed: Medium softness. Slept fine. Public bath: 9th floor: Spacious and clean. Open-air bath features good panoramic view of Takayama. Services: Professionally trained friendly hotel staffs. 2 drinks in a small refrigerator are complimentary.
A Morden and convenient hotel in Takayama! Very close to JR station and Nohi bus station! The staff of Hida Alpina Hotel all are helpful and polite to clients! The receptionist can speak mandarin whose can give clear information to me! I’ll stay in Hida Alpina Hotel again next time!
I stayed two nights at the Spa Hotel and was very pleased. The staff was terrific, the room was reasonably sized, and the location was convenient, only a few blocks from the Takayama Station and an easy walk from the Old Town. The included breakfast was so-so, although the selection of foods was good. The rooftop hot bath was very nice, although it was overcast so there were no stars visible.
Locating close to Takayama JR, clean and tidy rooms. Excellent service with English speaking staff who are very nice and helpful. Many small restaurants and convenience store around hotel, no problem in settling meals. Slight draw back was small toilet but overall the room was cozy. Didn't got chance to visit rooftop spa as we arrived late at night. Will recommend to other travellers.
A clean comfortable hotel but very basic in facilities. You know it's a budget hotel when the toilet paper is single (see through) ply. The bathrooms are small and would require anyone over six feet to duck to fit in the room. No lounge area, restaurant is just for breakfast and not really aet up for westerners. Clean with very friendly and attentive staff.
