Wonderful property with lots of charm and access to public transport in walking distance. Many cafes and restaurants nearby and the staff was delightful.

This is a hard hotel to review. In many ways we really liked it -- fun and trendy, friendly staff, nice breakfast -- but there were also some issues with our stay. I would not recommend the loft room -- at least not during winter. It's a fun layout, but the temperature regulation is terrible. When heat is needed, the upstairs loft is too warm and the downstairs is too cold. The difference is several degrees. We could never really get the downstairs thermostat warmer than 18C. With the bulk of the hot air seeming to go upstairs, overheating the loft. I don't think this would be as much of an issue in warmer weather when the AC is on and heat naturally rises. It seems to be the setup of the vents causing the problem. We also received a 5:30am wake-up call our first night that we had not requested. That really defeats the number one criteria of a good hotel stay -- a good night's sleep -- but I'm assuming that's an unfortunate mix-up not likely to happen again. Overall, we'd still recommend the hotel, but not the loft room.

Great location. 5 min walk to Darling Harbour, 30 min light rail/train to airport (very easy), access to commuter ferries, and cheap for Uber to get around. Clean hotel, free happy hour, snacks all day, breakfast in the morning, on-site self-laundry (they'll swap loads for you if you ask), the comfiest bed of ANY hotel I've ever stayed at, a courtesy umbrella in your room (which came in useful on several occasions), modern facilities, and the list goes on.

Great hotel for staff and clientele plus room and food quality.

I stand for 4 days on a business trip. It's a great non-conventional hotel with lots of included goodies. Ask what's the shortest path to Darling Harbor :)

I really enjoyed my stay there. Friendly and helpful staff! Great location to get around the harbour but not to the point of being so much in the middle of things that it was noisy or uncomfortable to relax. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

The 1888 far exceeded our expectations, which were quite high. We arrived several hours before check-in (because of an early international flight), and though the hotel wasn't ready for us to take a room, the staff members escorted us to a space where we could clean up and change after our 15-hour flight. They provided us with maps, bus passes and great directions on how to navigate the city. They even suggested neighborhoods we might be interested in visiting. The room was immaculate and trendy, the bed wonderfully comfortable, and the iPad a nice touch. The location is extremely convenient we were able to walk or take a bus nearly everywhere we wanted to go. It would have been nice to have a fitness facility in the hotel, but its absence didn't detract from the experience. Should we ever return to Sydney, I don't think we'd even consider staying anywhere but the 1888.

Hotel is very modern and the design is cool. Rooms are of a bit small (stayed in Queen room), but they get the job done. Nice bathrooms. Wifi was a pain as there are individual login IDs and passwords for each devise - seems there are better ways to manage. No workout centre but restaurant and lounge is nice. Just a 5 minute walk from Darling Harbour.

Had a great time . Rachael at the front desk was a legend. Bed was super comfy . Hotel is very chic and well designed out of the old wool factory . It is a little bit of a walk to the " rocks " area where the bridge climb is .45 mins . Loved the clear elevator .

Great hotel in a really good area with excellent staff and quality of accommodation.

This is a really well located hotel, with very friendly staff and the rooms are well appointed and spotless, as well as very comfortable. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed here recently and really enjoyed the hotel. The staff were excellent. The service was excellent. The room was awesome. We would love to stay here again.

i loved my stay in this hotel. it is very carefully designed. Every detail inside is interesting, contemporary and fun. The color scheme, the furniture, the rooms, have a perfect match. It is also very comfortable. Our breakfast there was also delicious. Every room has an Ipad with all the information you need to get around and enjoy your visit to Sydney.

PRETTY IMPRESSIVE GREAT LOCATION NICE STAFF COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN ROOM

The bed was comfortable , but did take up most of the room space. We loved being provided with an IPAD. the rain shower was great! Staff took care of any questions or problems promptly. location was great, only a short walk from great eateries and the harbor.

Good location, friendly helpful staff, cool unconventional rooms - great value
