Was a nice ski lodge with a ski like atmosphere in lounge and restaurant area.
The primary reason for a poor rating/review stems from noise level and the management's response. First, it was 945pm and the guests next door had music on very loud. The walls are thin and I fully respect everyone's right to have fun but thought this was excessive. I did ask them to turn it down but they did not really do that. I called management and their first respoonse was its quite period after 10. They did not care to address it at all. Also, staff was generally rude...also I get it, hard to hire quality people these days. This was a bit extreme though. I will never stay here again.
Super quick and convenient shuttle to the village, and great restaurant. Very Covid safe
The shuttle service to the mountain and the village was the best, so convenient and frequent.
Convenience in regards to the event i was attending
We loved the location and the staff was friendly and great.
Overall positive experience. I don’t understand the negative reviews. The rooms are clean and stuff is very helpful. Close to town and shuttle to the lifts.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were hard and uncomfortable and I woke up several times during the night. The breakfast needs an overhaul. Cold cereal and cold danish don't cut it for a day of skiing.
Great ski lodge. Familial, clean, quiet. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is good. Not too fancy, but completely satisfactory for a ski trip.
Nice hotel with restaurant, jacuzzi, very close to Stratton village and slopes. Friendly Staff
This is a satisfactory hotel except for the fact that there is little sound proofing in the rooms.
Typically when we've stayed at Stratton in the past we've done so with friends, so we were looking forward to trying one of the base hotels off season. Given how well conditioned Stratton Village is, we were all shocked at how downtrodden the Black Bear Lodge was in comparison. Lesson learned off-season when the room was discounted, but if I had paid top dollar for this place during the ski season, I would have been furious.
The location was great and the room was perfect for us on our 2 night stay. Only compliments are the free continental breakfast which lacks quite a lot. For $20, we got some decent food though (pancakes and omelet). The lack of fridge in room also meant that leftovers had to be tossed out.
When reserving room, we requested a king/twin only to discover that they did not have this combination and we ended up with two queen beds. Going into the room, the door was extremely warped and it was extremely difficult to open (I am disabled and this proved impossible for me). When we got in the room, we discovered there was no refrigerator or microwave. This motel was also pet free (I love pets and had to leave my beloved Chihuahua home) and the first night two dogs barked continuously for two hours and then woke us up early the next morning, along with someone's car alarm. We went to breakfast the next morning and there was little to choose from. We went to the Peru Craft fair and had an excellent day. When we returned to the hotel, we were exhausted and when I turned back the bed, bugs were in my bed whereupon I called the front desk and asked that my bed be totally remade. I was extremely upset. After my husband returned with dinner, we tried to relax and watch TV, however, another dog was across the hall and barked continuously for four hours. This was ridiculous. I called the front desk again to see if they could do anything and they said they would look into the situation but the dog only continued to bark. During this time my husband had to use the bathroom only to be confronted with a large, bigger than a half dollar, spider. Therefore, we will NEVER stay at this hotel again and will tell our friends no matter what, do not stay at this hotel.
The hotel was clean and basic. It looked nicer on the internet than in person but I definitely enjoyed my stay. The price was reasonable considering that I booked with only a few week's notice for the 4th of July holiday.
great location, clean rooms, 2 minutes to Stratton mountain
Everything was wonderful, staff was great, hot tub was awesome. price was right! Thanks!
