We booked 3 superior rooms for 2 nights in the end of December, the location is good, just in front of the central station, and less than 10 minutes walk to the city centre. the superior room was big in size, but really looks dated, we were looking at the hotel website before choosing the room category, and the pictures on the website show like the superior rooms are renovated, and look more modern, the bathroom area, was really old, and need renovation. breakfast was OK, typical for 3 stars hotel in France. parking is like 5 minutes walk from the hotel, they have an arrangement with this parking area for reduced rates. overall, the hotel is good for what we paid, but be aware that pictures on their website are misleading.
during must business trip I stayed for 2 nights here as always the staff was warm & cosy as always breakfast was great and as always I had a great stay I had 6 am train so it's best ace in city go be at as station is 30 seconds away
Location --------- Top marks for location. This hotel is right in front of Strasbourg train station and its ideal for business stay. Breakfast ---------- Good breakfast with good variety of items Staff ----- Very friendly and helping staff. Many restaurants and food outlets nearby and if you want halal food then there are Turkish restaurants that serve delicious food.
We stayed at "the Grand" for a nice citytrip and thought the place was good value, mainly because we did not pay very much. Hotel names like 'the Grand Hotel' usually suggest former elegance and style and this is just what you get in some areas of this hotel. Modernisation and bringing up to standards of comfort have reduced the charm considerably, but still made it a rather pleasant place to stay for a few nights. The car park where you can easily get to from the motorway is about 400 metres away and the hotel arranges a reduction. We paid about thirty Euros for four days. The station is comfortably situated just in front. Fifteen minutes' walking take you to most places of interest in the old town, tram stops to the European quarter are across the street. We found a friendly, well-priced restaurant with a Provencal menu just round the corner (La baie des Anges). We were happy to have a room at the back, as patrons who slept in front complained about street noise. Room size was OK, bathroom a bit tired, but sufficient. Breakfast was OK and everything was amply and promptly provided for. The breakfast area though, was tight on a busy morning. I like to mention the provision of two free daily newspapers in the lounge. Nice complement to following the news on your tablet or laptop via free WiFi. Serious doubts about professionality with which the hotel is run arose one night, when two needless fire alarm evacuations (due to a technical failure) were managed in a way which could have inspired John Cleese in scripting Fawlty towers. A complimentary glass of bubbles at breakfast and an Alsace mug were well-meant tokens of goodwiil. .
We spent 2 nights at this comfortable reasonably priced hotel when attending a family wedding in Strasbourg. The rooms, facilities and breakfast were all good and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel is very close to the station and we could leave our bags in a secure room prior and post check in, very useful.
Loved this central hotel. Quiet, comfortable rooms and near to all attractions. Perfect for a short visit to this beautiful city. Breakfast was plentiful. Very pleasant welcoming sraff throughout. Great choice.
Stayed at the Grand Hotel towards the end of September for a wine tasting weekend in the Alsace region. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the railway station (we travelled from London to Strasbourg by train) and approx 10 /15 minutes walk from the medieval town centre. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was plentiful. We had a standard room which was of a good size, but looked a little tired and would benefit from updating. Having said that, it was very clean. The wardrobe space was limited, but ok if like us you are only staying for 2 or 3 nights. I would stay here again simply because of the ease of access to all the amenities of the town.
Grand Hotel has had his best days in past, but nothing to blame, it´s worth for the money paid, and every need for a tourist are available including helping and kind stuff. The location is really good opposite to the main railway and tram station. From railway station there is no harm or noise because between the hotel and station is large square/park. So, you can have a room also from station side.
We were travelling with a small group(28) for one week tour in Alsace and Lorraine. The hotel was descent, a bit tired looking: carpets, bed cover, etc. The soap container was empty. It was very quite overnight, despite the large windows towards the railway station. The location is pretty good, 10-15 minutes to downtown. Good start for a walking tour. Satisfactory for one night. Our bus had trouble parking for loading us plus luggages in front of the hotel.
Room was old , tired and well overdue a refurbishment, long net curtain at window was grey at the top with years of dirt and neglect. Had to shuffle around my side of bed as in a caravan due to lack of space. Poor standard of house keeping alround. No restaurant facilities so had to troop round to ibis hotel next door, where food was simply diabolical, when asked for drinks at le grand , staff had to come from reception to serve, then disappeared back and forward to cellar. Please do not use this hotel.
